I saw some news anchors interview a guy who said the tax returns would be given cause the request cant br legally denied. Denying it would mean arrest, and he was so confident that was more than anyone would risk.
I was surprised that someone who otherwise seemed intelligent and observant thought Trump and his loyalists would make an exception and care about the law this time 🤷

It would not really require going against any norms, but it would certainly be unprecedented. Nixon resigned amidst a scandal that might have led to a guilty charge. Do you think Trump is that smart? No.
He would fight it, lose, and be declared a criminal. It would be a humiliation for the country, but it might just be the thing we need to remind government that accountability is still a thing. It very well could be the only good thing to come out of this administration.

,My admiration for Anderson Cooper began with his coverage of Hurricane Katrina. As a 15 year resident of that amazing city, I sat in my living room in Michigan and wept for the people of NOLA. It was amazing to watch this man slop around in the muck to help where he could and, yes, get the story. In this weird and frightening administration it is good to have honest comments by the team of Cooper/ Colbert.

Eh... Maybe we can hold out hope the Republican party wants to still exist after Trump is gone? The entire point of the Supreme Court is that they are above reproach from everything else. If they are not willing to slap him down, then yes. We would be doomed.
The worst thing that's happened by far during this administration is the packing of hardcore conservative judges everywhere the GOP can find a place for them to fit. The effects of this will last years if not decades and if they get another pick for a supreme court spot while the orange presidunce is in office the will of the people will go willfully unobserved for a long long time.
