  • We must teach our children to smell the earth, to taste the rain, to touch the wind, to see things grow. Our children have always decided the future. Let them choose one that aligns with our earth.
“Encourage your kids to look for nature everywhere you go.
It’s the weed breaking through the pavement,
It’s the leaves forming small clumps along the side of the road.
It’s the sky at any given time of the day or night.
It’s the wind doing what it likes to your hair.
Look around, it won’t take long to find it.”

i see a few of those children today .... 15 years, wanna go out, nothing there, they want to the city, not enough possibilities easy to get alone there .... these are troubles for the children when they growing up. its also a point we all should think about.. i think teaching them is possible everywhere. you dont have to change the environment. children should know about all possibilities in life. we shouldnt cut them off. they can find sense whereever they are.... depends on how WE trat them and what WE teach them in my opinion. but there is nothing wrong with such decisions.

"Connecting" or re-connecting is the key word. Our civilization is based on individualism. With pseudo connections from social media. Still....the choice is ours. Abundant possibilities....recognize what you really are and act accordingly. You are free.

I agree 100 percent. I grew up running in the bush with my brothers. We made our own kites and toys. Materially we did not have a lot but we had a happy childhood. Because of war we had to leave our home and country and moved to a foreign place in the city. I have had to bring up my own child in an area where gangsterism and drugs is all around us. There are no safe areas where my child could play outside the properties boundaries. I feel like the children here have been deprived of their childhood and a good life. In order to protect their characters they have had to grow up too soon. No innocence and no joy. I have had to find ways to ground them and teach them skills such as carpentry and crafts to keep them away from the poison in the city. I have been quite successful in one way but because the children around them are invariably on the wrong path it has become a lonely life for them.

I grew up being in touched with nature whiting a modest family and completely took it for granted. As I got older, I thought materialistic things would fill the void cause by abandonment. I took me several years of depression and couple of suicidal attempts to finally realized that everything I needed in order to filled the void; I so desperately searched for, was already inside of me. Going back to innocence, having a simple life -one that feeds your soul with love and compassion for everything, not just your senses temporarily. Slowing down- taking a deep breath embracing stillness, loving nature ....no materialistic possessions can even come close to the everlasting memories we are capable of creating; when we finally wake up to the reality of our divine nature.❤️

Memories, memories! Its so important to build up our memories with all senses gained from the nature. I'm so glad that there are some parents holding such wonderful idea to nurture their children on the other side of the earth. I remember when serving children with autism, we went hiking every week with the children and their parents. These children were excellent hikers as they felt so relieve in the nature, greenery, breeze, birds humming, forest, water sound from the creek, and the undulating trail provided all senses exactly what they needed as children. I still remember their smiles with great contentment while they were walking through the forest. Their anxieties and hyperactivity were surprisingly gone. The nature demonstrate excellently to the parents that the nature is the best healer, and it is free. It also allowed them to perceive their children with special needs from a different perspective. We can realize how much potential we have locked up the children when confining them in a classroom. The nature is the best "school" for all children. Thanks for showing us these wonderful parents! This film affirms those parents who scattered on the earth but share the same values, they are not lonely.

To live completely apart from the city is mostly suited to the young. It is a privilege for the few with the means to do it. I got to do most of the things the children were shown doing in the film, but I grew up in a small industrial southern Ontario city more than 65 years ago. That way of life is now gone with the closure of the mills and plants where our parents were employed. Now only the wealthy can afford can afford the area.
The city is not a place many freely choose, but it is a place to make a living. To me living in a small town is probably the ideal escape from the extremes of city living, if you can manage it. You can have space nearby to explore and enjoy nature, but still have the community of people. People are also a part of nature. When we isolate from the community of other people, we deprive ourselves from many of the pleasures of being human. As much as family, we need friends to have a full life. This pandemic has brought that point home for many.

@Linda Parisi - Thanks, as always, for your messages that bring extra light to our day. As for the HOW - it was something that I considered bringing into the story, until I realised that it was just such a different and personal journey for each family. They all approached it in a different way, that worked for them and their lifestyles. And that's the magic I suppose - to find your own path, that works for you and the ones that you love 💚

We are renting a house on some acres. We not ready to buy but we rather rent here than own in the city. Having skill it's very important to have to be able to be free range here. I was a cook he is a carpenter. I gave up cooking to grow food, that we sold and eat last summer. We raise chickens, getting goats next week, cows.... grow food, self renovation, using anything old to make new, recycling, composting, fermenting....do what our grandparents did.

Well they don't have a fancy house or lots of gadgets. One of them is a blacksmith, one looks like he works in conservation. I expect they grow a lot of their own food and they have the space to keep livestock. They probably don't have foreign holidays and new cars so once they have bought a property they only have taxes and some utility bills to pay. In England this sort of life is expensive as property is very expensive perhaps it is less expensive in other countries?

Hi, I recently found your channel and binged watched a lot of your videos. I really just want to say that what you produce and create in this channel is really inspiring. I don't have the funds to support your patreon page since I am still in university and struggling to scrape funds for myself too. Lately, I've been really burnt out because of all the deadlines and requirements I have to meet + the pressure of friends and family to succeed, and the only thing that's pushing me through is the idea that when I graduate, I can buy things that will find me comfort. These kinds of videos help me realize that the simple things in life, the things we take for granted almost everyday, are the only things that we really need to find satisfaction. I was so caught up in the "future" that I forgot that the most important right now is myself , and taking care of myself and my sanity. I grew up in a materialistic mindset and my family pressures me to be rich and that is the only time I can be comfortable. Your videos made me rethink my life course and I might have to change it soon.. Thank you so much and godspeed.
