- ⬇️ Click SHOW MORE ⬇️ to see everything in the video. Hi, beauties! Welcome back to my channel. Now, before we dive in, let me just say, our faces are as unique as our stories. What works wonders for me might not do the same for you, but when it comes to aging, certain makeup pitfalls seem universally unflattering. I'm talking about blocky brows, harsh heavy lip color in drying liquid formulas, and the trifecta of heaviness: foundation, concealer, and powders, not to mention overdone highlighters. As my skin embraces aging, that heavy makeup I adored in my younger years just doesn't do me any favors anymore.
In this video, I'll walk you through common makeup mistakes that age you, from makeup application for mature skin that can accentuate rather than flatter our changing features, to the right and wrong makeup that can either add years or take them off. Whether it's makeup mistakes for beginners or mature makeup mishaps, I'll cover it all. And yes, that includes navigating the realm of over 50 makeup, where less is often more, and natural makeup reigns supreme.
But here's where I need you - yes, you watching this! Share your makeup tips, tricks, and triumphs in the comments below. Let's build a community where we celebrate beauty at every age, swap stories on common makeup mistakes, and guide each other towards makeup for mature skin that truly enhances our natural elegance. Remember, it's not just about avoiding makeup mistakes that make you look older; it's about embracing and highlighting our beauty So, let’s chat, share, and grow together.

We all have different faces and unique styles so I’d love to chat in the comments about what works for you!
New Subscriber. Great video! I also love your earrings! Would you mind sharing where you got them?
I put the link for you in the description of the video. It is the first link.❤️❤️
Personally, I am appalled at some of the viewer’s comments you mentioned!!! Frankly Laura, I think you are beautiful and always look amazing!
I love finding this tutorial.
I am 86 years old
, so yes I have challenges! However, I have no desire to agonize over losing my youthful beauty.
I wear foundation well and really like a dewy look. My biggest challenge is my very sparse eye brows and gone are my lush eyelashes. I would wear light lashes but my vision is not actuate. All this to say to all who think age is a downer... it's actually quite freeing!!!
I appreciate your kindness and encouragement so much!❤️❤️
I couldn’t agree more! I don’t wear a lot of makeup but I do wear some. Yours video is the absolute best I’ve ever seen. I’m 69 and don’t want to look like a clown😉 Thank you!
For me-could well work for others-I no longer use mascara on my lower lashes or line underneath my eyes. And I rarely use black mascara.
I am very careful about bottom lash for sure . Don't need the mess .
I never use mascara on bottom lids and I have been using a wonderful matte primer from Essence line . It's inexpensive and I absolutely love it. They also have an 18 hr long last mist you use after your make-up. My eyes are creases and I have a hard time finding really nice eyeshadow palette.
I have a hard time as well with using natural color lipstick because I have a cleft lip and palate. The darker shades actually camouflage my scar. When I don't wear my liner and stay on forever lipstick ppl ask about my lip. I have very heavy lids on my eyes so I am going to try your tips Laura. You're absolutely stunning. I'm almost 53 and ppl have asked me if I am in my 30's. But having channels such as yours really helps me!!! Thank you for sharing your tips. ❤
I think we have all changed. For many years makeup was heavy and harsh. Now it is all about softness. You are not alone!
Your BEST video yet!!! I have always had a too heavy hand with my makeup. I’m 72 and need to lighten up and try all of your suggestions!! Thank you!!
Me too!! Exactly. I'm 71 but evening in the evening out dancing I'm wearing too much😂
What a great video! I am 61 and started wearing makeup at 59! Love the discussion about how our face is changing. So helpful because the changes just keep coming!Keep the great tips coming!
I’m 54 and love this
one of the best tutorials for make up, and I have seen a lot
You've inspired me to go a little darker with my foundation. I believe that would help my look as well. I can't get over the night and day difference between the two looks. Your skin looks amazing.
I have been watching your channel for many years. I must say that your hair and makeup look so much better now than in the early years of your channel. You are one of my favorite beauty influencers on You Tube, I have learned so much from you
Much softer look. Something many of us of a certain age need to look at in our own makeup application. I know I’ve changes some things in the past few months and will probably change even more in the future.
I definitely keep tweaking things as I am getting older.❤️❤️
I am 58 and stopped wearing foundation because of the way it sits on top of the skin. I now wear, a tinted sunscreen an focus more on healthy skin. I still love makeup but have also changed some of my techniques. Love your video. Pickup some ideas on placement of my contour and blush. Thanks a bunch.
I mix foundation with sunscreen or some light face cream/lotion/serum and it's the best tinted moisturizer. I can control the concentration, shade and quality by mixing only things that I know I like.
That elf palette in nude mood is my go to when I have to know my eyes will look good without any fuss. It is the perfect palette.
It really is fantastic!❤️
I was watching Niki LaRose, and she was explaining that she uses Dawn dish soap to clean her brushes. She has so many brushes because she is a professional makeup artist. Basically she did say use whatever we have on hand to clean our brushes. The important thing is that we clean them. I always wipe mine back and forth on a microfiber cloth, and then I will do a deep clean every 2 to 3 weeks. The Lancome mascara is my holy grail, but now I am going to try the elf mascara. A lot of people are saying that the elf tubing mascara is a dupe for the Thrive mascara. I am 59 years old and have never used concealer. I don't have dark circles so I just don't have a reason to wear it. I have to say you look absolutely beautiful. I think you always look nice, but you are right. Using a bit darker foundation at our age makes us look more youthful. Great Video!
Milani has an awesome dupe for thrive. The tube is even the same blue/green color as thrive! I love it
I use dawn dish soap too. Works fine
Fool proof brow products are Maybelline Build a Brow that has a pen on one side to draw in hairs and a gel on the other side, and their Tattoo Styling Gel which gives these beautiful full brows with just a few swipes of the wand, looking like real thicker beautiful brows. I have never done brows because they always looked crazy but since getting these two products I've been able to actually do my brows and not look like Groucho brows, those real harsh brows or like I took a marker to my brows like 2016 brow craze that I've always hated on everyone.😂
My 57yro. face can't do anything heavy. For everyday, I typically skip a color corrector. A good rule to remember is that dark recedes and light brings forward. I do not use concealer. Wet-N-Wild Tinted Hydrated applied from a cushion compact and starting from the center of the face working outwards works for me. I use a taupe shade to recede a prominent brow bone on my hooded eyes and use a champagne shimmer on the lid. I apply setting spray on my hand and dip my brush in that before dipping into the shimmer. (no fall out) I only line the lower lash line with shadow; dark brown/navy/green with the same technique and only carry it to the center of the iris. I use a bit of Essence bronzer in Sunday at the hairline, under jaw. I use Elf putty blush in Caribbean, sheared out and top with a powder blush for longevity. For Spring Summer, a blush with shimmer adds an extra glow without the need for highlighter. I'm currently using the one in the Milani All in One Face Palette Volume 110. Mascara is Essence Bye-Bye Panda Eye. Lips is Clinique Pink Honey. I do not use a liner for an everyday look.
Lovely effects with great tips. Thank you so much. I am 78 years old and trying to find that good balance between aging naturally and gracefully, and enhancing the features that will make me look most presentable. I don't like "harsh" looks of overdone makeup, and you really have it figured out!
I love watching and learning new tips for my 65 year old face.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
The Queen Bee has coconut oil in it, and it is very irritating on my skin. Can you recommend something without coconut oil?
Your face looks beautiful!👍🏻
I noticed my skin tone has changed - I'm wearing subtle pink shades of blush and my eyeliner pencil is a warm brown shade now. Thanks Laura for sharing 😊
I am 60 years old and just tried castor oil. Love it so much for night time use. Leaves your skin so hydrated and wait and see how good you look when you wake up in the am. Also good for inflammation.
hi there, do you just put the castor oil directly on your skin, and that's all? no other products?
I put my nighttime skincare on first and then the oil on top
It is super thick so you might want to cut it with another oil such as rosehip, coconut, argan etc. You don't have to but it makes it easier to spread. I bought Queen of the Thrones brand.
Hello, please don’t use castor oil if you have a dog, because they will lick your face, legs, etc., and it is poisonous to the animal. They get violently ill and usually die! Check with your vet, if you’re not sure of what I’m saying. Thank you.
Great tips! Makeup is my creative outlet.
❤❤❤❤
Wish you could advise Priscilla Presley, her make up is SO ageing 😌
Hi Laura, I really like the darker foundation, It is more youthful on you. I think I'm going to have to darken my foundation. I think you should go 1/2 a shade lighter on your under eyes. It appears 1/2 shade to dark. You turned out a beautiful look. I really enjoy when you do tutorials I learn so much. As a 62 year woman my face seems to change every week. It's so helpful when you show us new techniques. Your new techniques make you look healthy and beautiful. God bless you and yours.
Thank you so much for sharing Laura!!!

Love this video, Laura Rae! Like you, I used to have big eyes and now they are small. I've had to adjust my eye makeup application to what works better for smaller eyes. I still love black liner/pencil, but use less.
You look amazing in the updated version. Have a blessed week!
Excellent video! You’re beautiful and your softer look is gorgeous❣️🤩

You look so beautiful in your makeup you did today. I really like the deeper shade of foundation on you, and I like all the makeup you used today.

I really enjoyed this video so much. For me being a senior senior, I don’t use a lot of makeup anymore. However, I love your tips and uses of your makeup. I’m going to try a few of the products you use and see how they look on me. I got a kick out of how many different brands you use too. Thank you for one of the best tutorials I’ve ever seen for aging skin.
Great job and lovely look Laura. Yes, as we age, we need to tweak our application.😉

Hi Laura! I love your tips for keeping things smooth and natural looking. I really like the serum foundations more now than the traditional liquid makeup. (love your blush , too)! xo, Donna
Thank you so much Donna! So happy to see you here! I hope everything is going great for you!❤️❤️
I am thinking about my foundation being too light. I need to check on that. Thanks for the tips!!
You look great!! You are beautiful with or without makeup!
I really appreciate this thorough, careful review. I learned a lot, and I am a makeup fanatic! Thank you! ❤
Glad it was helpful!❤️❤️
Wonderful video Laura. I learned some new tips and find that I'm lightening up my application of makeup these days. I'm 69 and have always LOVED makeup, so I watch all the influencer makeup video's, but because they look great with all they use, doesn't mean that look translates to a more mature women.
Love your Gorgeous ways! Inside & Out.👑💯🌹👑
Flawless! A beautiful, natural look for you. SO much better than the other application. I love that you share the brand and color of the products you're using. New subscriber with lots to catch up on. Thanks!
Welcome to my channel. So happy to have you here!❤️❤️
Gorgeous!❤
Thank you for your kindness!❤️❤️
Really informative, nice Lady!
Glad it was helpful!❤️❤️
Laura Rae, you are lovely. Thank you for bringing attention to Bee Naturals Peeper Keeper, one of our top-selling products.
You're so right about prepping our skin, especially as we age. I used to be able to apply my foundation on bare skin when I was younger, but now, it's essential. Thank you again!
I love all of the products I have tried from Bee Naturals. My mom passed away in October and I would have to say your eye balm was her favorite product. She talked about it all the time. I appreciate your kindness!❤️❤️
This make-up tutorial is wonderful... what a difference between the do and don't!
Thank you 🙏
You're so welcome! So happy the video was helpful!❤️❤️
Love this vid❤
Thank you so much!❤️❤️
Amazing 10-15 year difference between 2 applications. You look beautiful with the light touch but deeper color. Most of my retired but busy days, I where only tinted sunscreen instead of foundation. I do think I must go darker. Also must try the higher placement. Thank you for only outlining lips, just lovely.
Great video!
Thanks! xoxo
Beautiful!
Thank you!❤️❤️
New to your channel and I really enjoyed this and have learned a few tips. Thank you.

You are so welcome!❤️❤️
New subscriber here. I appreciate all your helpful advice for us older gals ❤ Thank you
Welcome!!❤️❤️
Laura, I love the blunder comparison. But they weren’t blunders they were just how we were told what to do. I have learned a lot and do my makeup like you do! This was great! Thank you!
The darker shade is gorgeous on you!
This is something my lily white Irish complexion needs now also , as im 56 now i had noticed my usual cool Alabaster skin tones were washing me out so i bought a darker tone to play about with recently , the Revolution Silk Skin being so affordable i thought it was the one to use for shade practise & i bought F4& F8 to mix . I did get a compliment so i think it must have looked better on me.
That Estèe Lauder skin tint is really beautiful the more im watching you its looking nicer 😍 ...Im influenced!! 😊😂
Hi Laura.. Thank you for showing both applications,.. that contrast really brought out the blunders I have made..I love your natural look....I loved all your tips...Thanks so very much.. and please keep up your videos.. You are beautiful... outside.. BUT INSIDE too 🌹🌹💟💟🤗🤗
I am so glad that the video was helpful. I appreciate your kind words so much!❤️
I just stumbled on to your video and I am very happy I did.
You look absolutely gorgeous and I love your background.
I have gotten a lot of great tips from this video. The 1st product I can't wait to try is the one for the brows. I have some serious pours & will definitely try your tips for them.
Now to check out your other videos & subscribe.
Thank you so much!! So happy to have you here. Hope you will find my videos helpful!❤️❤️
Beautiful!! The other video that you shared as you were doing your new way of makeup, really did not look too good. Way too light; but now, WOW! Thanks for these great tips. I am going into my 64th year in a couple of months and definitely do not use or apply makeup the same way I did, even a few years ago. These tips are all really helpful!
So happy the video was helpful.❤️❤️
You look beautiful and great tips for me.
Thank you so much!❤️❤️
oh yes, that new foundation look looks much better than the light one you used to use. This one here looks really natural and so smooth, wow
I just subscribed. I’m guilty of all of these. I’ve always have loved makeup.
I just found your video and am loving it.
👍💝💜
Glad you enjoy it!❤️❤️
Great tips, but you have beautiful, beautiful eyes and skin. What about those of us who have naturally hooded eyes, I have found that the techniques you’re working on the great for people who have lots of lid exposure, but for those of us who have hooded lids it doesn’t really work. I love your idea about moisturizing your lips. I will definitely start doing that.
My oldest daughter has small hooded eyes. She goes to events often for her non-profit and I love doing her makeup. I usually use one beautiful eye shade or use two and go very close to the lash line with eyeliner and powder. Small brushes really help to get more detail. Most brushes I find are too big. Hope this is helpful.❤️❤️
Lovely natural look. I find the sponge hard to clean after the foundation.
I find using a deodorant soap cleans mine well.
Your skin is lovely!
I appreciate your kind words!❤️❤️
Blunders indeed! You’ve come a long way with your makeup over the years. It’s really night and day.
I appreciate your encouragement!❤️❤️
New subscriber, I have saved your advise to play back step by step for my next special event ❤ love from Australia
Welcome! So happy to have you here!❤️❤️
