This is my very first video, so if it's a little messed up I apoligize haha. If you have any suggestions for this video or for future lyric video I'll take them!!!!
Thanks for posting! Mick Jagger said he never cared much for this song (paraphrasing), and couldn't understand why Rolling Stones fans loved it so much. They still played it live many many times over the years and quite well, all the same. Keith Richards said it best: "Everyone talks about rock these days; the problem is they forget about the roll." You got to roll me. Rock & Roll on, Rolling Stones!
I thought Mick just wasn't satisfied with the mix that got used, and he would get it an argument with Kieth at the tempo it was played at live more than actually hating it. But artist can always change their minds over their creations over time
@@57mab yeah, I imagine if you have been on as many tours as them over the years and had half as an amazing catalog of songs as they do then they would both rush the songs because 1. They have a ton of songs to play if they even want to get 1/4 of what people would expect to hear at one of their concerts. and 2. They probably get burnt out on playing the same thing over n over and welcome a chance to add a little variety in the mix. But I have no idea what goes through an artist's head especially ones that are so important to rock history as they are
yes...great comment...I always felt this...from the time I first heard it from my dad playing the record and as I got older and listened to this greatness on my own...the most stonesy sounding song
A great song by The Rolling Stones! This was a featured track on "American Top 40 - The '70s" (from May 6th, 1972), & was the #23 song. Bravo, The Rolling Stones!
My favorite Stones tune as well. They captured it all in this classic!! The lyrics are so off the wall (barley understandable cool) with one of the best guitar opening bumps I heard.Stones at their Very, Very best and simply awesome. Feel like a little "gambling" tonight....
I was so blessed to grow up in the music revolution and music business. I was 7 when Elvis played Ed Sullivan and 13 when the Beatles played Ed Sullivan And after the Beatles appearance it all just exploded, with the British Invasion and Elvis again in 1968, comeback show. Hundreds of great bands and solo artists. After the Disco era it changed to a hip hop simplicity that’s almost ridiculous and ignorant.
My Family and my aunt Rose were down in Virginia at my aunt & uncle's house. It was hot so we hung out on the patio then one of my uncle's neighbors invited us to a pool party he was having. All of us went over to his neighbor's house and were hanging out together. The person also had children who were a little younger than us. We had a barbecue and listened to some AWESOME music!!!!! The man's children were dancing and were very good and all of us applauded them!!! Then they said to my aunt & uncle, " Can these kids dance"!!! My aunt & uncle looked at my mother and all of us and my mother said, " You are about to find out"!!!! All of us were " LIT UP"!!!! and ready to DESTROY the patio and the guy's children!!! My mother, my aunt Rose my sisters Nancy, Caroline, and my aunt & uncle danced to a hot song and brought the house down!!!!! Then my mother said, " Now I will call up my HEAVY GUNS and show you some REAL DANCING"!!!! When my mother said that I went "NUCLEAR""" Then my mother said to me, " LOAD THE ARSENAL"!!! My aunt & uncle said, "OH SHIT"!!! Now all HELL is going to BREAK LOOSE"!!! Then the guy played this song and I SCREAMED, " You just made the MOST FATAL MISTAKE you could MAKE"!!! Then we got out on the patio and DESTROYED IT"!!!!! Then my mother SCREAMED "AERIAL WARS"!!! and Debbie and I were flipping & flying all over!! my aunt Peggy screamed " CANNON" Then I Fired Debbie and my aunt Rose HIGH in the air and spun around while I caught Them!!! My uncle screamed "TOMCAT"!!! then I fired Debbie across the pool and she landed on her feet on the other side!!! Everyone was SCREAMING & FREAKING OUT!!! and in "SHOCK"!!!! when we got done my mother and my family were hugging & kissing us and said, " That's my BABIES"!!!! My uncle's neighbor's family was "SPEECHLESS"!!!!! Then he said, " WHO ARE THESE KIDS"!!! My uncle told him, " My sister's family are Roller-Skating & Dance Champions!!!! He then said " What is with your nephew" !!! He can get MAD DOG CRAZY"!!!! My sister Eva told him, " My brother is very NERVOUS & HIGH-ENERGY"!!! He has the energy of an ATOMIC POWER PLANT!!! When he gets EXCITED he turns people into flying projectiles!!! My sister Debbie is a gymnast and can FLY like a BIRD!!!!! We can do this on Roller-Skates as WELL!!! My mother said, " That is why they are my "HEAVY GUNS"!!! When we NEED to win a contest or tournament I call on them to DESTROY a dance or skate floor!!!!!!
Keith Richards is probably the greatest rock and roll composer (great song writer), but the Grateful Dead is the greatest rock and roll band the planet produced. Even Bill Graham, former owner of Fillmore East said it best back in 1969-70. "On a given night the Grateful Dead are the greatest RnR band in the world." He should know. He heard them all. Peace brother.
Most assuredly, it is! I've seen them 6 times starting at age 10 lol 89 was my first stones concert, but my 2nd concert over all, I seen the who 1st lol. I think or the stones 1st it was same year and I seen em both now I forget which was 1st lol

This is always comming back to me as one of my fav songs. It comes and goes but it it has some magic; some essential stones and particularly Mick. I like your site because I sing along with it and it gives you a chance too. The historical dimention is excellent. Keep going best wishes.
You picked the finest Rock and Roll song for your first video. It stuck in my head when it came out and I heard it on my parents car radio. I was an adult before I knew who sang it and even longer before I had a clue about any of the words.
Hated this track when it was released, and hated it ever since, well, up until I was 60 yrs old, now soon as I jump in my car on goes tumbling dice, when I'm not in the car I sing/hum it, just can't get it out of my head. This all goes to prove how stupid I was at 18, now I love it.
Its like the seinfeld show.... BY MENNON Lol its gotta wotk if that guy george can get laid.... Its a great track...with an infectious riff. Happy xmas yall
One noon,in 2015,I played this song 30 times non-stop...The guy on the other side of the ether let out a very very loud Whaooo!!!!...and came around...Sweetest frenzy!!!!
I never looked at the lyrics of tumbling Dice. One of my all-time favorite Stone songs Believe it or not. I always thought through the song they were saying "got to love me" but they are saying "got to roll me" which obviously fits the song. But it still sounds like got to love me and I think I like it better. Anyway the lyrics are hard to follow through the song. Mick is an absolute master with lyrics and Melody. I wish I could rewind back to the '60s and travel through time with them all over again. The greatest rock and roll band that ever lived!
One of my favorites Stones and now one of my favorite videos to play along. Lyrics are not getting in the way great pics, and plenty easy to read if someone screws up words like Linda Ronstadt. I loved her through thick and fat, but don't mess with art.
Before I nitpick I'd like to thank-you for the upload of this great great tune and the time you spent typing. He's singing- Baby, get it straight, you got to roll me .... : ) on all the choruses beginning at 1:32
Been listening to the Stones my whole life and never bothered to find out the lyrics to Tumbling Dice. Have a feeling there are other Stones fans out there who don't know the lyrics either. Thanks for the upload. I now feel a whole lot more intelligent.
Remember listening to this song in the green light of my FM stereo at night on the 50,000 watt blow torch WLS out of Chicago....good times ,man......good times.

love it ..all perfect music harmony vocals etc
The groove in this song.....Exile, what an album. Country, gospel, blues, and rock n roll all in one.
The greatest lyric of all time
'There's fever in the funk house now'
It's right up there with "she blew my nose & then she blew my mind."
I’m kinda leaning on “wild enough to shoot at. Too high to hit.” From Tyler Childers but yeah, great line.
and "I'll be,in my basement room with a needle and a spoon."
This has got to be my favorite Stones song. Along with a hundred other of their songs. Thank you for this
