    The GAR Canteen is a souvenir from a Civil War Reunion. The Grand Army of the Republic was a veteran's group that held reunions for Union soldiers that fought in the Civil War. These reunions were very popular and were held annually for many years until the soldiers all grew old and passed away. The old soldiers had reunion uniforms made and would receive a Reunion Pin or Badge which they proudly wore. That is an awesome find.

    The bone you found looks very familiar to a bison bone that my dad found in Billings Montana in the mid 70's. He was the project manager building the Billings water treatment plantt. It was found down very deep right near the river that was just on the outside of town. They sent it up to one Universities in town and had it carbon dated. It came back as being 500 to a 1000 years old.

      Awesome 😎 glad you enjoyed the video. I just got home yesterday and pulled it out of the cleaner this morning. I toothpicked it a bit but still a lot of buildup on it. I am able to make out a few letters or something definitely on it just can’t tell yet. Feels heavy like silver but possibly a copper token or something related to the veteran perhaps. Was found several minutes in same location as that mini canteen medal. I will keep you informed though for sure.

  • @patrickjensen6688
    @patrickjensen6688 4 місяці тому +1

    I searched it says it's a medal of honor some were put at graves you should seek a veterans of war hall said they were unique to a purpose its truly priceless looked like some had chains some had a badge above it some were ribbons says" we drank from the same canteen" simular to "medal of honor "non are pretnear as fancy as that gem but there was more to that you should have used a mineing screen sifter paid for by another soldgier any veteran medal is priceless no matter what side they took orders from
