Zack, this is by far the best video dealing with the LG Front load. Between your video and the lint trap comment, I saved a lot of money. Thank you Sir!!!
This is one of the best and most informative videos on the internet. Especially in regards to actually testing parts to ensure you have the problem correctly diagnosed. I didn't need the parts mentioned. However it helped me diagnose a break in one of the wires within the wiring harness. It was a big help and saved a lot of time guessing at the problem. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
I could not get the meter readings Zack got and thought the motor or control board might be the real problem but went ahead and tried the least expensive fix and bought a new motor position sensor and that turned out to be the fix. Great video Zack, and your info on getting into the diagnostic mode is great.
Made my brother's work. They were about to call a mechanic. Needed to drain it manually. Awesome work!!!!! You nailed it mr scott
Thank you! My husband followed your instructions to diagnose our washer's problems and reinstall the control board.
Found this video by chance and it saved me! I had replaced a failed board with a used bored that was “tested”. Everything powered up but drum wouldn’t spin and I would get LE error. Tested voltage and that was the problem. Got a new board and washer works great.
Great video. Wasn't about to pull panels and test stuff, (Since I don't own a multi meter) but went into diagnostic mode and it spun. Then hit the pause button and it started into spin mode and jumped all over the place. I immediately turned the machine off, andf then back on and set it to wash a normal load. Everything seems to be working normally again. WOO HOO
Very well done, excellent. Clear, good pace, good approach and filmwork. Thank you.
A stated earlier my stator Ohm'd out at 8.9 to 9.0 Ohms, so 7.5 - 7.8 may not always be correct. When I got into diagnostic mode I saw the same "0" RMPs. As soon As I moved the wire harness to check power coming from the control board the RPM went from 0 to about 46. Luckily I don't need to replace parts, but I do have an intermittent somewhere in the wire harness. Thank you Zack.
Really appreciate you showing me how to access the LG washer Auto-Diag test!!
ANOTHER IMPORTANT TIP - when you are checking the ohms on your stator ... check it from the CONTACTS ON THE STATOR not the plug as shown in the vid ... I did it the way shown in this vid (from the wiring harness plug) and it showed a bad stator ... then checked it from the contacts on the stator and it showed the stator was fine ... did a continuity test on that part of the harness and found one wire had none ... traced the wires from the plug to the stator and found one that had cracked and the wire had broken off completely ... you have to remove the white sheathing tape to find it. A bit of solder and some shrink tubing and the washer is working like a charm again.
Yes, if it had show good at the harness, you then work back towards the motor.
The way he did it is fine, as after checking the contacts at the plug, and then the contacts on the stator itself, the fault is isolated after two or three steps.
The key point is you need to follow a logical series of steps, and do not make assumptions.
At each stage of a troubleshoot, you are narrowing down the cause of the problem.
Biiiiiig brain! Thanks for the tip and heads up
Very well and easy to follow tutorial video! This video was very helpful in repairing this machine!! 💯 % recommended
excellent video. Mine has no issues except an odor issue. while i was researching info on mine, found your vid. if I ever have this issue, I will know how to replace the control board. great job dude! Robert
IMPORTANT TIP!! When my LG washer wouldn't spin I called the LG Customer Support line and the woman guided me step by step through cleaning the water filter from a small door on the front after she told me how to drain the tub manually (important). Evidently thread and lint and stuff can clog the filter then it won't drain or spin. 10 minutes and voila it drains, spins and NO repairman or cost. TRY THIS FIRST!!
Robert Scott yes the filter was clogged on my lg called them the woman was very helpful..10 min fix.
Great tip! I thought I had a major project ahead but checked the lint filter and although there was very little lint in it, a small amount had tangled into a quarter inch long cord. I doubted that could be the problem - but it was.
Excellent advice because if the water has not drained the spin function will not operate in diagnostic mode. Even if its a failed pump, these are readily available for $25-$30 and easy to install.
I was able to get mine spinning by unclogging the filter also. I had to use a little snake to go into the tube about 8 inches total, doggo hair!
Robert Scott this fixed my issue OMG
Thank you for the video. My washer is not a year old yet, but the spinnig is stuck on 6 minutes. The information in your video is great. You just gained a new subscriber.
How did you fixed yours?
thank you for the knowledge,i will buy a meter to test motor, thanks again for taking your time on making this video.
I fixed mine. Remove the cover in the back and there is a 17mm bolt
that holds the stater on the shaft that spins the drum. Remove the 17mm
Bolt and slide the stater off. The splines on mine were sheared off
after my wife washed some sweaters that were really heavy when they are
wet. Any way I thought it was the bearings and took the whole thing
apart but it was what I just described. Repair clinic wants you to buy a
whole new stater but there was a replacement part on amazon that is
just the plastic hub. The part from amazon also had the splines made of
metal where the LG part is plastic. The Repair clinic part was $120
and the amazon part was like $27. Easy to fix, if I had just removed the
rear cover I could of trouble shot this thing in 15 minutes. It was making noise when it was trying to spin but the drum was just rocking back and forth while it was making a grinding noise. Maybe you have the same problem. Good luck
I snapped the little hose from the little compartment down in the front of the machine accidentally whilst draining excess water.. then when I put a load of washing on, the water just poured out of the bottom of the machine and has flooded my freshly painted laundry 😱 is there a way for me to reconnect that hose or do I need a technician to install a new one? Please help me xx
@@renegademaster6736 All of the parts in the machine can be hooked back up or replaced if they are broken. I'm not sure how capable you are when it comes to taking things apart. There are lots of youtube videos that can guide you. You should at least take the top off and see what's up. Getting the door seal off and back on can be a bit of a challenge. If it doesn't work out a technician can put it all back together for you if need be. Good Luck!
@@michaelbarrett8803 thanks for responding Michael! I’m pretty handy with my tools, I just wasn’t sure if it was going to be a waste of time trying to open or not, I’m not sure if I’ve snapped the whole tube off or just part of it, and I’m thinking that’s if it’s only part of it, I will most likely need a new one.. I’ll see if I can find a video on it and go from there. I really appreciate your help mate. I wish I had of checked UA-cam before trying to fix it in the first place. My issue ended up being that the child lock was on and simply pressing two buttons was all it needed in order to fix it.. I had no business poking around and pulling hoses out lol but by the time I learned that, the damage was done 🥴🤦🏻♀️
Can you provide a part number or some more detail how to find the part on Amazon please..?
Hello Zack, Great video!
Just a quick question.... when you take ohm reading from the motor connector how you know how many Ohms you should read for good or bad?
Zach this video was great - really clear! Our LG WM2075SCW shows 0 in diagnostic mode! (it also makes a whining noise when trying to spin) The best part was that by putting it in diagnostic mode (thank you for showing us how) the washer finally drained! I think testing the Ohms and AC is a little beyond our abilities particularly if it means finding, buying, and replacing the control panel but seriously - this video was a life saver!
Noises when turning are usually the bearings.
It didn't spin but it was the rotor not the computer part that was easily tested by taking off the back panel removing the rotor which was a lot quicker and easier than pulling all the wires loose which you told me to do and took me time and everything was working there fine Silex Mo and found another video but I do appreciate the video you made it was very helpful in least I know what to look for in other issues
This is an old video but did he do leave it plugged in to the electric supply or UN-plugged it. VERY IMPORTANT to us who are not familiar with these procedures. I also would like to know where to place the dial if you don't have one of those expensive meters that are automatic. Most of us novels use cheap ones.
Have same exact washer. When i do diagnostics mode stays if81 after i hit start an washer keeps going as it should . Will that show me what is bad if i let it run? Im trying to figure out why it washes the whole load ,drains water but wont do final spin cycle an keeps throwing Ue code. So far replaced lid switch, hall sensor on stator an waiting on tub to pump rubber hose thing to come next. Even open the plastic enclosure around the drum to see if anything was in-between the walls.any help is really appreciated
Could you show how you disconnected the blue three prong connector? I noticed you had to use some force to separate it. I don't want to use excessive force and damage the connector.
IT WAS THE WIRING HARNESS!!! LE code was intermittent and increasing in frequency. Wiring Harness OHMs were fine throughout. Read somewhere that inspection and OHM test will not necessarily reveal a failing motor/Hall sensor wiring harness. He was right, suggested it be changed out every 5 years mine lasted 14. GO LG WM2007-CW!!!! GO! GO! GO! By the way replaced the HALL SENSOR a couple times in the last couple years and then the MOTOR STATOR to no avail old OHM 7.6 new 10.4 all the way around. I took the expensive scenic route to repair. Hope this helps.
Same washer. Any idea what would make it work mostly normal. But spin super slow and then after awhile of slow spinning it just fails .. What would make it spin slow as the only symptom
Why (when testing the voltage) do you say "no voltage, when your multi-meter was showing number values?
My first thought. Had to stop watching right there.
He should have said low voltage, plus he was being too impatient.
You need to make sure you get good contact and a steady reading, then double check each value.
It is obvious he already knew what was wrong, which is fine if you are just doing it for yourself, but if you are trying to educate someone else, you need to be clear, deliberate, and precise, so the person watching you is clear on what you are doing, and why, and what it means.
And if it was not known what is wrong, that was nowhere near enough info or explanation to conclude anything.
The way he did it is not how you teach someone who does not know how to do something.
Terrible video.
How to video are supposed to explain, and must be clear in order to educate.
I'm sorry how many fix it vids do you guys have?
I did all the test and they passed. Washer was still making noise and not spinning with clothes in it. I tightened the bolt on the back of the housing that contacts the tub and now the washer works fine.
thanks for the video, in case mine needs a control board, do you know where I may be able to get one? Thanks
Is there a video on balancing issues? Thanks great video by the way
Thank you for a very well done video. My LG has a different problem, but I found your info to be helpful in getting in to the machine, and for getting into diagnostics. My machine will not stop filling, even when off or unplugged from the wall. Checking the inlet filters, they were very dirty (covered in scale), so my guess is that mineral deposits have blocked the valve from closing. I have tried to find a video that covers this, to no avail. Any suggestions other than toss the machine over the balcony and buy an old school top load Kenmore?? Thanks.
replace the watervalve and it should not do that anymore. Common problem with water inlet valves. see it in dishwashers and washers all the time. solenoid fails and will not close.
I have had my LG front load washer for 13 years it is never off i5s only this year it has needed new bearings and now it wont spin, but hubby having a look. Its the best washer ive ever had and ive had a few
Nice video , My lg was having trouble agitating. Would try to but would not. I did not think there where to many clothes in it. I took some out and unplugged power and plugged back in and it worked. This happened about a 8 months ago. I have don't loads that are a lot larger without a problem. Is the stator a part that gets weak or wears out ? Any ideas ?
So LE typically means that the hall effect sensor has failed. Did you run the machine on diagnostics mode and which way is it not turning?
I just bought a General Electric Steam front loader and my machine washes good but it won’t rinse the clothes out good enough. The machine pauses and then shuts off, how do I drain the water out. I’ve had several overflows of water on my floor. WhT do I do?
Same washer issue but my terminal wire is reading 11.2-11.5ohms on the first step test what dose that tells as your shows reading 7.2-7.5ohms
Hello,
Hoping you or anyone could help - My LG machine (F1247TD) is not turning on at all... so can't even get into diagnostic mode. Have checked power is coming from the socket, and swapped the fuse in the plug and still no power. Is there an internal fuse perhaps?
The machine was mid wash and I've drained all the water/clothes etc. Can't tell if there were any error codes because the machine was off when I returned to it.
TIA!
hey ! I have problem in a LG F8068LDP
It star with turn Left then right Tow times then it just turn to the left 3 times the make a sound of stop
what is the problem thank you and am waiting your responce thank you agin!
No I went to that test mode, and when I pushed the play button to lock the door, the drum began spinning at 50 rpm, but when I pushed it again, it stopped. What does THAT mean?
good video! Time to see why my washer wont spin I cant even spin the drum by hand anymore.
How do I remove main circuit board from base mounted board as No screws in it can't remove to replace
How do we get service manuals for lg washers?
Zak,I'm getting a 46 on the spin diagnostics?what could it be?
Great video! What else should I check if the drum only spin one direction? Thanks.
zack great video. I have a wm1812cw that I just had toe replace the drain pump. After doing so it did two loads of wash fine. Now it keeps coming up with an ue code and will not spin up before timing out. Have tried every thing with loads but same thing ue. What would you suggest?
Thanks Robert I really appreciate it!!
Why do you say Zero Voltage when it looks like you had around 130V on the second coil you tested? Am I missing something?
Zack why dose my washer spin only one way and not the other way while washing. everything else is working and it seems like its not spin drying as good
Zack, thanks so much! Boy, do I wish you made house calls in my area. I just washed a heavy jute rug, now it won't drain the water out. I'm going to try the diagnostic, as a repair person cant come for over a week. THANKS for this great video!
my lg wm0642hw just went out and was attempting to run a diagnostics test and in the middle of the test it completely turned off with the door locked and now will not turn on at all now i even tryed to unplug the machine amd hold down the power for five seconds followed by holding the start button for 5 seconds and it still will not turn on nothing comes on do you happen to know what this problem may be and can let me know what i have to do thanks in advance god bless.
I replaced the spider. Washer still hummed but no tumble. I suspected it was wires. Harness to motor good. Then I dropped the top with the control board down into place and it started to tumble. I had given it a hit here and there on the side of the panel and it started (had previously experienced no tumble). The spider still needed to be replaced. I suspect the wire harness to the control board has a lose wire. I'm just going to order a replacement and have it on hand.
Good evening sir, my name is Peter from Egypt and I am a technician in electronics and I am happy with your explanation because I learned a lot from you Would you allow me to be a friend to learn from your experiencesAnd I encountered a strange malfunction in the L.G washing machine. The malfunction opens water without closing And I unscrewed the board from above and took the measurements and found that there were shorts on it And I installed the board again, but the defect exists. What is the solution? I listen to your advice I forgot to tell you that I changed the level unit and the hose, and the defect is present
When I press the bottoms like you said I should do the number displayed is 41 and at times moves to 42... can you tell me what thus means?
Thanks, do U know how to check the water level /pressure switch?
any help with my watching machine?? model lg w3j5qn4ww it's not spinning LE error
I have an LG WM2487HRM It starts for about a minute then shuts down, I reset it spin the drum but does it again. now it just wont start any suggestions
Thank you! I hope it helped you out!
Thanks for the upload, fixed my washer!
My 212kwat5u504 LG washine machine won't drain. It spins but won't drain. I removed the motor pump assy, applied 120VAC and it pumps. There is no blockage in the hose or the filter. Control board maybe?
My Frigidaire front load washer not spin at all j had replace control broad still not spin ,it has a motor protector but I can not found it , could you help thank
I think the IU 02 is your software version and not sure what IN 80 is but it sounds to me like your control board is the problem! Do you get any error codes after you put it into the cycle? and does it just stop after water needs to drain?
When I try to enter diagnostic mode after if:81 when I press the start button I get “be” code and it will not do anything else. What does this mean?
After reading these comments, I really don't think I'll ever consider an LG product... thanks for saving me some time guys :)
Except that the other products are just as bad.
My LG worked for about 10 or 11 years from 2007 or 8 until this post. Using this video to try and fix it.
@@daveyboygee Mine is 14 years old.
Just saved me a repair call. Thanks Zach!
My washer does not drain or goes into the spinning cycle, I tried the diagnostics mode and it says IU 02 and In 80... if I press start button again while in diagnostics mode it drains the water and spins very fast... Can you please tell me what could be causing this problem? I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
I have the LG WM2455HG Front loading washing machine. If I put the drain hose in to the drain pipe which is at 5ft off the ground, the machine makes a loud buzzing sound and wont drain completely. If I take the drain hose and lower it to 3ft off floor and drain into a pail, it works fine. Checked the drain pipe and its not clogged, checked the filter and its clean
Thanks a lot. That was great. I’m in the diagnostic mode and it is spinning. But when I tried to start it in the regular mode it just makes a big loud noise and doesn’t do anything. The problem started with the FE error. I turned it off let it sit all night, the error went away but then it started doing what it is now. Maybe it’s the pump? Sure sounds like something like that
What was the cause? Same thing is happening to me
Thanks for the post!
Make sure your checking the plug that goes directly into the motor and if you get the same resistance between all three windings then I would suspect your door switch or your control board. Door switch has to be closed to send voltage to motor.
I’m showing 200 volts. What does that mean? How is it even possible. Should it be around 140 between any combination of terminals?
I wish I would understand this. I don't get the list of "times". When do we do that? My washer does the first part (wash) but does not drain or spin. I have followed manual instructions but nothing seems to work :'(
Hey what if i receive to much voltage? 230 volts is what im getting! thanks for your answer!
great video btw!
Excellent video but please tell us which is the most reliable washing machine? Panasonic, Miele or LG? I use mine every day (4 kids) and I have already have enough experience to know that Bosch, Siemens & the Zanussi clan dont last much more than 4 years before becoming uneconomical to repair using a trade.
How you get new terminal ? Mine is wm800h*A lg my problème is clean well the cloth but not spin to 11 minute poof to 1 and close him self
please make more video for appliances . how to check the door lock . thanks
So how do you get a new control board
When I set it to diagnostic mode it begins to spin. When I try to put apply a wash setting it will not spin
Hi Zack. We have an LG front loading machine (WM1832CW). It spins but stops before you get to the spin/drain cycle and an LE error code appears. Any ideas on how to fix this issue? Is it the strator? control panel? motor?
Thank you.
hubertmiranda same problem
If you live in Canada it doesn't really matter how much the parts are as LG won't sell them to you anyway! LG refuses to even let American appliance part facilities to ship parts across the border. If I'd have known this I would have never decided to waste my money on their machines. I purchased a front load washer and dryer and the dryer broke down in the first 6 months the washer lasted a bit longer but now sounds like a jet airplane taking off. So if your thinking about buying from LG my advice would be save your money!
www.easyapplianceparts.ca/
Why do you say that voltage should be 140 to 150 if washer is connected to a 120 v outlet___
Hello Zack, my question is what do I do if the washer doesn't power on at all? Yes its plugged in to LOL
I got 8.9-9.0 Ohms across all terminals?
Zach thanks for the video. However, my washer has a 63 rpm spin. voltage and ohms are good. I do have water dripping from my stater. What are your thoughts?
Main water seal and bearings bad.
hi i try to fix my LG tromm WM2277HW and I think connect the hoses that send the soap
and i cant find any video or manual for that
can you help me?
allende6 I have the same washer and my problem is # 5 &7
Where is the vibration sensor ( out of balance sensor), caused by bad shocks etc on these machines?
You're a genius
Excellent. Thanks!
Mine spins. When washing I can not see soap and water. Lacking water a lot. Since is also bad. Then spin on max can't spin much faster then washing. And keeps stopping
Actualy..Yes it did :)
THANKYOU...Zack Nelson 8)
ok.. what if the control board is working and motor spins but drum does not
It does NOT have a 3 phase motor. 3 phase is 660 volt industrial electrical components. Housing electrical panels are 220 volts. A washer runs on 120 volts.
In the video when you are checking for voltage you say there is no voltage but there is 103 v &130v! What's up with that?
Rrrfrrr
you need the same voltage on all 3 terminals
Hi All, Informative video. The voltage is jumping around due to the meter being auto-ranging and picking up small induced voltages in the milli-volt range. These meters are very sensitive. So not 120V.. actually120mV. Here in Oz our motors run on 240V so the resistance of the motor windings would also be different (and dangerous for the unwary)
I assume because it's mentioned that proper range is 140-150 so perhaps 130 is considered bad/faulty when it comes to this particular machine
I replaced the worn-out bearings and seal then got this problem on a WD 12397 TD. I got help to carry out tests including this one to see what was the problem and we agreed it must be a problem with the motherboard. I was expecting a problem with the position sensor but it turned out OK (the method was from ua-cam.com/video/gV4-2l93ZzI/v-deo.html) These motherboards are not available from the LG service in my country. Took it out to an electronic technician who identified and soldered the faulty part of the circuit. Took it back and reinstalled the repaired board on the machine. I held my fingers crossed since it appeared to be a simple fix. Put in on and set it to rinse. The machine is as good as new again. Thank you so much for the clear video.
But what happens if it spins???? Mine is spinning in mode goes all the way up past 100 rpm
My Washer Grinding noise and won't spin... , when it spins i heard a sound like grinding motor a little bit, and it stopped
Thank you!!
You the best thank you
Great video anybody got a link to the new board?
Hi Zack... I have same model, mine will spin but won't ballance with clothes in it. It will spin at high speed when empty. It stays at 9 min and tries to spin up to speed but never does. I have leveled it and I have replaced the 3 shock absorbers, the pressure switch and the main circuit board. Any Ideas?
+John Longest did you ever get a solution to your issue?
my motor read 8.5ohms. when I go to test the board, I get the CE code. Sounds like the stator?
Depending on your connectors 8.5 ohms could be good. What did you end up finding out or doing?
Test the ohms of your test connectors first. My Stator Assembly ohmed out at 8.1, but the connectors by them self ohmed out at 0.6 so if you subtract that, the Stator Assembly really is reading 7.5 ohms. CE probably means it's a Control Error, probably the Power Control Board (PCB Assembly) that was bad.
Having a hard time getting the blue connector apart. Don't want to break it. Any suggestions?
So I got the connector apart and my ohms each read around 9.4. Does this mean the windings are broken?
My ohms on the first test are slightly higher. 8.3 across 3. Can you let me know what to do about that?
Depending on your connectors 8.3 ohms could be good. What did you end up finding out or doing?
Test the ohms of your test connectors first. My Stator Assembly ohmed out at 8.1, but the connectors by them self ohmed out at 0.6 so if you subtract that, the Stator Assembly really is reading 7.5 ohms.
Can I still get the ECB?
