I wish they never discontinued the Road King (FLHR).
They still have the standard 2024 Road King in a wide variety of colors with standard 114, ABS, Cornering ABS Traction control and more for about 22K it's called the R/K police model.
can you find this model on the HD site?
@@motorman857
@@motorman857 Can a civilian buy a new 2024 Road King Police model? Is it a special order?
I have a 2018 RK, it truly is a road king out on the road
@@jeffboyd3391 yeah, I have a 2019. They’re gone from the Harley lineup.
I just bought my Hydro-Glide. It came with the wide white walls. Wish I could send you a pic of it. A++++
I just love old school, my ride is a 06 883 sportster. Also a 72 Volkswagen Beetle all original as was from factory. Just like simple no bs.
I own a '99 Heritage Springer. She rides like a dream.
I would stick whitewalls on it too, but I really wish it had a 2 into 1 old style exhaust. That would really give it the panhead look.
It looks a lot like my 2006 softail deluxe, I just need to add studds to everything
Beautiful. Love retro styled bikes.
It’s a nice bike but I think it’s missing the wow factor, like the Electra Glide Revival and Highway King. They could have put the tombstone or beehive tail light on it, and also had it in a teal colour. I feel like we had enough red bikes last year with the anniversary models.
Agree. The only thing I like better about this bike than my Highway King is the seat height. Other than that, I’ll take my Highway King over this.
Very nostalgic for sure. Wishing I was going to Daytona, but will have to live vicariously thru watching your videos. Hope you get to ride this one. Still like your blue one. 💙
This bike isn't going to ride any different than a base Heritage Softail 114, which BTW ride very well. The only difference is there's a crash bar added to the front. Although built on a touring frame, lasy year's Electra Glide Highway King had substantial differences than a base Road King which would make a difference in the ride.
That good old classic look!!
Correct. And they aren't retro bikes, bacause H-D has always sold at least one model every year with this form of styling since the Hydra-Glide and Duo-Glides. Just Google images of any year H-D you like.
The tassles on the bags look too much like indian but you are right whitewalls would make it pop.
That is nice now put the 1957 price tag on it.
Website says they start at $30,000
Ain't met a scoot yet worth that to me.
@LtJackboot Who's adding the $5k to the list? It that a dealer website? More power to them if they can get it. I'd get a Road King special for that money, but meanwhile I couldn't part with my Road King and all that chrome. I'm making my own Icon 😅
They did. Check out what a 57 Hydra Glide cost in 1957 dollars and account for 2024 dollars. 3K IN 1957 is 33,927 dollars today.
@@motorman857 thank you for this analogy, I use it often when people bitch about new H-D prices. Harley has never been a cheap motorcycle. But when you factor for inflation their prices have remained about the same for decades, if not some models being a little less expensive today than in the past.
@@MarkPalmer1000 From 1995 or so, to 2008 the demand was quite a bit more than the supply. Of course, dealers took advantage and charged 5K to 8K over list for big twin models. Some dealers wouldn't sell you a new Harley for any price unless you had a Harley to trade in. A dealer in Clearwater FL. charged 1200 dollars just to put your name on a list and said you had to take whatever color came in or you'd lose the 1200 bucks. And that 1200 didn't go towards the price of the bike. Once your bike came in you'd have to spend 1500 bucks in accessories or they wouldn't sell you the bike. Taking that into consideration, the 2024 bikes are thousands less than the past 25-30 years.
Gotta have the white wall tires to complete the look!
Of all the Icon models, this one to me is the best.............. By far!! But I'm a little partial to the 50s look. It reminds me of my Daddy's generation of motorcycles. When men were MEN. Nice job Harley Davidson. Great vid Jerry
Don't take this the wrong way,
But you're the best advertisement
the Motor Company can have.
Well done Jerry, keep it up.
Wow! That's got more leather and studs than a Pride parade!
😀😃😄
There is nothing wrong with Pride parades. 😎🌈
😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
😄
Just new paint and cute little studs on the bags.
That's what I saw too.
and a big price tag.
If the price is too high, they won't sell. If people are willing to pay the price and in many cases, above MSRP, then Harley priced them too low.
exactlyThe original had a 2 up seat that you could ride a passenger they cheap out and only put a solo seat
@@splodge5714 it's not really much more expensive than a base Heritage with two tone paint. The additinal $1650 adds a crash bar, a custom tinted windscreen, the custom solo seat, special paint scheme and badges, farkled out saddlebags, and a different air filter.
$2500 up charge for different paint, different stuff on seat & saddlebags. Not for me but they will sell.
Beautiful machine,love the,old style,harley davidsons,sheer class,best wishes to you Jerry,and family,regards mike,United Kingdom, softail, deluxe, owner
That hydroglide looks really cool 😎 but I would like a black one. Yes agree it needs the whitewalls. Luv the Elvis pic and bike 🏍.
Agree about the whitewalls!!
Beautiful bike!
Thanks for sharing with us pal.
Thanks for sharing that is a beautiful bike i agree the White walls would have topped it off . take care have fun at the rally
As someone who owns a 2017 heritage, I like that they are bringing back the look. Having said that, I also love the ‘24 road and street glides.
Agree 100 per cent jerry, whitewalls would make this bike ! , i would expect it as standard for the price tag. Hate the single filler petrol cap ,it upsets the beautiful symmetry of the tank, even
a false one on the left side would look better.
When the Heritage Softail came out in the mid 80s, it was a revelation, myself and other riders sold our Shovelhead Electra Glides to get the new Heritage ,
and then spent a 'shed' load of money customising them to look like 50s Hydra Glides, 2 into 1 fishtail exhausts, vintage tank badges, whitewalls, two tone screen , buddy seats etc.
This bike looks good and no doubt will be flying off the showroom floor.
Thank you Jerry! Nothing about a new Panamera or a not too heavy scrambler? A little unusual for HD, but who knows...
I would love to see the hydro glide as a standard model, not a limited production, since the removed the base road king (yes I know about the police version, but it is a pain to get, particularly if you are not in the USA), and I really dislike the panniers and plastic studs of the heritage classic.
You know what Jerry I seen that yesterday in the email and to be honest if I could buy a 24 model it would be that. I absolutely love this bike
Why would Harley limit production on a classic bike, priced reasonably by Harley standards, that would likely sell very well? White walls would work very well on that bike, no doubt.
People don't want that style, they want the blacked out, hard guy, bikes.
@@darkiee69 I certainly would want it.
@@phiberoptik232 I'd prefer that over the gray bikes they have now.
They do limited production bikes for Franklin Mint Syndrome, and because they really don't know how the market will be. If it sells hot enough, they will do another run of a similar setup (but enough different to keep from angering the people who bought the original limited edition), but they don't want to be stuck with a bunch of them if they don't sell.
It's nothing but a Heritage that's a wannabe icon. All you're doing is looking through the side of the punch bowl at the actual turd.
That's pretty! They have a winner there.
Great looking bike! Only wish the pipes were different - two out the back with fish tips!
nice bike but your right no wide white walls. that would have made it really loook good
Love the nostalgic look,I’ve got an 03 Heritage Softail Classic,100 year anniversary, love the look
Have fun at the races.
All that's missing is the "kick start" peddle.
As much as I love it, unless you're rich, I wouldn't hurry to buy one. You'll just pay more than it's worth. Example - the Revival was selling for almost 40k at it's peak and now you can find them for 25K. My dealership had a used one, mint with about 1500 miles and it was sitting there for months. Finally sold for 24k.
Thx Jerry
I thought the whole point of Harley coming out with the Heritage in the eighties was that they looked like a HydraGlide? In fact, I remember some great two tone retro paint jobs. And remember when you could send in your tins to Harley to be painted with early model paint jobs? All good...but this one needs soft leather bags to really look like a HydraGlide.
1986 if I remember right.
@@atcjoe1600 Yes. In fact, when I first saw one back then, I thought it was a HydraGlide. That front fork, headlight design is my favorite.
H-D never stopped making bikes in this basic style, they just changed the names around as the engines and other technology changed over the decades. The latest rendition of the "Heritage" came out in 2018. More are waking up to see that there are other equally cool bikes from H-D rather than the latest trendy touring models.
I’m going tomorrow to the dealership long branch nj got one in today
Thank you for the video beautiful bike as they used to be on the good old days 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍
I have been saying for years they need to do a retro Harley line where they just use S&S Panhead & Knucklehead engines on REAL rigid frames with slightly larger tube frames they used back then since the used to crack after so many miles.
You have great videos!
Amazing! I was at Graceland last year and I didn’t see any bikes like this inside the auto museum
Destination Daytona has one of the custom Elvis bikes they made in 2007 on display on the 2nd floor of the dealership. If you google Elvis on a motorcycle there are dozens of photos.
I like. I like to get back to classic, I don't like blacked black
It's a lovely Harley-Davidson for sure!
Its even better looking in person
Blue would have been Exponentially Better. My opinion.
Nice Harley!
Wow that looks great!
I love it! I just wish they used the regular blinkers rather than the bullet-shaped blinkers.
It's nice. And us older riders are going to like it. But what about younger riders and the future HD? I guess since they're limited to just 2 per dealer these have a chance of selling out. Looks like a nice ride to me. I'm not much for the chrome stuff any more, but all-in-all seems ok.
That’s a beautiful and classic looking bike.
Looks great 👍💪🔥🐐
I got a email from Harley-Davidson a few hours ago. Good looking motorcycle.
...agree, it's missing the white walls ✌👍
This icon looks cool and unlike the previous two years where the seat height was way too tall this looks like people under 6ft can actually ride it.
Seat height on this bike at 26.1 inches is even a bit lower than a base Heritage, which is one of the lowest seat height H-D models.
@@MarkPalmer1000 sweet!
Not much into "red," but looks great...
Been on bmw n ducati for 25 years walked into a HD dealer and saw this and bought it, im a huge elvis fan, I liked it so much i went and bought a ultra limited as well
Could've just kept the Deluxe.
Minus the new star trek style blinkers the last few years😉
Yeah it would look better if it had the wide white bordered tires. I was just looking at the promo for this bike. I love it... did you get to ride it? How did it perform?
I didn't ride it as I said in the video because it was already sold. But it will ride just like a standard Heritage.
Beautiful bike. You didn't mention the motor they're putting in it. I assume it will be a 114 or 117?
114
Beautiful bike .
I want one!
Damn that looks really old school.
What's truly missing is that carburetor, the heart and soul that made them and the chain drive
Great review so so right about the white walls
I like it. It's a cool, classic look. Anyone know how it is with tech oprions/upgrades? For instance, is GPS and stereo available?
ABS and Traction control only.
Hopefully I’ll see you in Daytona. That bike is nice, but not my style.
Slick looking bike.
Beautiful bike
Cool looking bike
Nice styling for certian. I am still enjoying my '23 Highway King. Say would you know where I can get a larger seat? The motor company has no options.
Yes. A custom upholsterer. Mustang makes a pillion for police seats and that's what you have on the Highway King.
TYVM @@motorman857
Instant collector’s item
Really just a Heritage with special farkle treatments, but it works and the price isn't absurdly above that of a Heritage.
That's exactly what all the H.D. Icon models are. A modern interpretation of a classic Iconic Harley.
I like it ya saw this few days ago
What an awesome looking Harley! I missed MSRP.
1:18 - $24,999
Dealer add ons will bump that up to $29,000.@@rickdff62
Very cool
I like that bike!
Yes,i agree, needs white walls,to finish the nostalgic, appearance, regards mike,United Kingdom
cool.
Oh wow!!!!
Just add a black version and a turquoise version please.
i like this one nice job on it, except it dose need whide white walls that will really dress it up nice
Bring back the Deluxe
Any coming to Australia?
Every dealer will get 2 of these models.
A left tank gas cap is missing too. 😢
Looks like the deluxe classic
The beard is looking good Jerry. But the tires on this new Icon, not only are they not whitewalls, they seem a little bit too low profile.
Did they give you the white bike today? Also, what bike is similar to the heritage that is $5,000 less?
Yes, They gave me the white CVO St for the day. What I said was the Heritage is the same bike as the Hydra Glide for about 5k less.
i wish i could.
I would like to see a black and white one , but only 1 color this year.
Quintessential Harley.
What size motor??
114
Is it built on the Softail chassis or the Touring chassis? Good looking bike.
Softail. I showed that in the above video you didn't watch.😒
@@motorman857 I watched it. Guess I missed it. Thanks for the video.
Awesome looking bike! Can you get it with an Evo engine?
Looks like a dolled up version of my old Deluxe. FLSTN
Don't like the look, bring back the Road Kind Standard .
I like it without the wide whitewalls. 25K isn't horrible for an icon, BUT every dealer will add a 10K markup.
B.S.
How much $$$
Jerry do you have a trike class?
Sorry, no.
@@motorman857 Well I have rode on two wheels for years then the wife decided to ride so I bought a new 21 Tri glide a couple of years ago.
Wanted anything I could get from a true pro.
