If you win huge amounts like that they take almost half in taxes. There’s an option to get it paid within like 10 years so that the tax is much less since it’s considered income

what a joke, you buy a winning ticket then it's puzzle after winning to fit the pieces together and go through a bunch of hoops, and then find the offices to go to and again spend a day or 2 trying to reel in just what you need to claim your winnings, and IF you get that far then, bless california's no state tax on ticket winnings, but they keep 24% that's 240 dollars on a thousand to hold for the federal government taxing of their percentage which is going to be a bit more, between 26 and 30%, that can put you in another tax bracket if your taxes are already near a change point. then they send you a check or money order that you have to have again perfect id to prove its you and you didn't steal it, and then i cost you 8 dollars there to cash that. so you get lucky to get 650 dollars on ticket that you had to spend 2to5 days of systematic steps to redeem it by a bunch of security tactics that some don't understand, they keep your money for 3 weeks??? i got an idea, why do you make it so easy to just scratch the ticket, why not have an algebra test, breathalyzer, and a background check and a book report to do before you have to scratch the paint off the ticket. leave it to government to get their hands on anything so they can ruin it. the instructions on a ticket "PLAINLY" state to claim it, fill out the claimform and mail itto the address on the form.

You do not have to send your ticket via "regular mail" thru the USPS!!! You can send it via "REGISTERED Mail" or "CERTIFIED Mail: Return Receipt Requested." (Personally, I would prefer sending my ticket via "Federal Express" -- insured!!!!!!!!)
The payouts are very bad if you win 5 or 4 numbers out of 6 numbers on super Lotto, Mega millions, and Power ball. So ridiculous, for example if you win 5 numbers plus the mega number you will win $10 million on super lotto but if you win 5 numbers you might win $35,000 and if other people win the 5 out of 5 it gets divided, same is true for winning 4 out of 5 numbers, or 4 numbers and mega on all games too.
