“Daniel” makes me cry every time
I think of my son's when I hear Daniel! It made me cry before I had kids, now, I just can't help it... One of my all time favorite songs!
@@jesswebb588 😍
I don't know if this is true or not but Daniel is about the Spanish civil war...
My eldest son...is called Daniel....for that self-same reason.
I went to Spain at about the time this single came out! It made my mom cry, because I was in love with a Spaniard named Alberto and almost went to Spain to live with him!
You have to admit us “ older crowd” grew up with the most fantastic singers and musicians ever‼️ Thank goodness I was fairly young in this great era. Thanks for playing our memories.
Brockhampton's Saturation albums 1-3 in 1 year would like a word.
Elton John & Bernie Taupin were a musical combo well beyond their time
Timeless.
Timeless indeed!!!
Made it seem effortless, too. In my all time top ten artists.🥰💕
Elton John and Bernie Taupin = Global treasures :))
Geniuses for sure
"I guess that's why they call it the blues"
K C NO!
Yes!!!!!
Elton wrote all his songs within 1 hour of getting Bernie Taupins lyrics. Musical genius
Jay- you need to watch a few documentaries on the Bernie/Elton duo. How they got together is an interesting story, and the fact that they never even occupy the same space while writing a song is mind blowing...
Indeed! No question!
amazing colab between those 2. AMAZING
Elton wrote all the music for the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album - perhaps his greatest album - in one weekend.
@@tektoniks_architects e;ton is amazing in every way. love the guy
You summed it up perfectly...”Elton John sings right through you” 💯❤️😘
I still, vividly, remember the first time I heard "Your Song" on the radio, while standing in my best friend's kitchen, looking out the window. I fell in love with it, and it's still my favorite EJ song nearly 50 years later. It's perfect.
This is from the album 'Madman Across the Water' and nearly every track on that LP is golden.
Probably my favorite album of all time.
Has anybody here seen Razorface?
@@domeshine69 He was laying down when I saw him.
@@domeshine69 Yes, Razor face, and Rotten Peaches are both underrated songs.
definitely
Who besides me can't help but see a scene from the film Almost Famous in their head anytime you hear this tune??
Yes! Every single time.
I can’t. I see him onstage which I have. Twice. He’s a genius as is Bernie Taupin as a poet.
@@benclarke8500 That is my favorite scene in the movie cuz it rang so true for me. When I was young I was a member of a very active and successful marching music organization. Every summer we spent 15 hours a day practicing only to jump on a bus and wind up in some strange city hours later ready to perform. As in all musical "families" we didnt always get along but no matter how deep the riffs they always seemed to instantly dissolve under the weight of our shared love of the music.
Me. It was the first time I heard it! And it gets bigger, when it reach the chorus and the guitar player is completely in the mood, and when the kid says:I've gotta go home, and she replies: you're home. And then I can't stop but think: music is home, wherever we are. The good one
In a movie full of memorable scenes, the scene where this song plays stands out.
"I have to go home."
"You ARE home."
I think that's what we are all looking for, "home".
Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding, Levon and Daniel...epic.
Oh yes !!!! Forgot about that one. Great song
Excellent choice.
I Feel Like a Bullet in the Gun of Robert Ford is another not so popular one.
I love Kevon too!
M May All excellent choices!
Classics, man doesn't get better than this
Elton John "Philadelphia Freedom" I know you'll bop to that one! It was so good he was invited on Soul Train to perform it and rocked the house!
'
Love that song
Yes, I agree♥️♥️
You have only touched the outer boundary of Elton John's huge catalog of songs that received significant air time on the radio. The number is more than you probably believe it can be. It is a very, very deep rabbit hole.
So true
Someone Saved My Life Tonight,LOVE!
Almost 50 years listening to this song and will never get tired of it. Elton John is my favorite artist and Tiny Dancer my favorite song. Thanks for doing it.
"Border Song" has the best verse that I think Taupin ever wrote. Its even more important today than its ever been. PLEASE.
Gallery 96 incredible song!
Ditto
Elton wrote this about Bernie Taupin's wife. And she was the "seamstress for the band".
I love Elton John’s voice. Tiny Dancer is my favorite.
There's a man over there. What's his color, I don't care. He's my brother. Let us live in peace.
Bernie wrote the lyrics. He was a genius. And Elton's voice and piano playing are unlike any other.
SO true. I saw him three times in concert. Two solos and one with Billy Joel. They were transcendental! The first concert was with three different pianos; the second one was at the time he did Yellow Brick Road and he was very flamboyant. They were all so phenomenal!
You might also like Elton's songs "Your Song," "Goodbye, Yellow-Brick Road." "Daniel," "Philadelphia Freedom" and "Don't Go Breaking My Heart." (And that's just some of his bigger hits between 1970 and 1976! :-) )
Candle in the Wind? Marilyn Monroes song...
@@BritishFreedom and reworked for Lady Diana.
Levon, Madman Across the Water, Indian Sunset
Marcus Oh-really-yes Some good choices though you missed the best like, Burn Down The Mission, Come Down In Time,Madman Across The Water, Sixth Years On, Levon, Indian Summer,Daniel , And much more before he went and sold out and later due to an operation lost the high range of his voice!
mark tuchscherer I love LEVON. The words tell a sad story, but not depressing.
My vote goes to Madman Across the Water" and "Someone Saved my Life Tonight".
lona burgess Definitely Madman.
I wish I would have scrolled here first, Thanks for reminding me the name of the song I was trying to think of, Someone saved my life tonight.
Someone Saved My Life Tonight is the one I have been asking for.
I can see, very well, there's a boat on a reef with a broken back...and I can see it very well.
This song was a hidden gem for awhile, then it was used in a key scene in the movie Almost Famous and then it became popular again.
You are home
An underrated song, in my opinion, from Elton is "Levon".
LEVON!
Another quite underrated song is Sartorial Eloquence
It’s funny that you played this just after Neil Diamond. Elton got a big break from Neil Diamond, who backed him in the early 70s.
Bennie and the Jets is a brilliant Elton John song. It's my favourite too
Great video! 👏👌
Good song
What movie is Bennie and the Jets from ?
@@peterkelley4346 I don't think it was in any movie.
@@spider-man6088 Aloha Bobby and Rose was the movie i knew it was in a movie i remember seeing the movie. It came out in 1975. Three of his songs were in it "Bennie and the Jets" "Your Song" and "Tiny Dancer"
Someone Saved My Life Tonight you would love. His library is deep! Another rock icon!
This man is such a master. An awesome song. YOU GOTTA REACT TO: Elton John and George Michael singing, "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me".
God yes. He would LOVE that.
That’s a great version. I also like Roger Daltry’s cover on the lost boys sound track.
1,000% YES!! Best request EVER
I've requested that a few times
JV, the light is bursting out of your soul tonight! Elton does that to people. Thanks for making my evening. Love you!
Elton John... so many amazing songs ... saw him in concert in 2014.... best concert ever. Benny and the Jets... great song... whole arena was singing it with him. He played his piano for 3 solid hours... with only 1 break for 5 minutes.
From his show in 1974 to his tour last year! Were so lucky to have seen him play live! Watching the master at work is like nothing else
Elton John is so good! Extended version of “SOMEONE SAVE MY LIFE TONIGHT” would draw another great reaction I’m sure!
Elton will put you in the zone. His lyrics paint a picture every time. 🕊💖🕊
Great song! The violins are so fine to elevate the emotion.
Any of these will do...
1. Candle in the Wind
2. Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting
3. Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word
4. I Guess That’s Why They Call it the Blues
5. Sad Songs Say So Much
6. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
7. Don’t Go Breaking My Heart
8. Crocodile Rock
9. Circle of Life
10. Can You Feel the Love Tonight?
11. Daniel
12. I’m Still Standing
13. Your Song
14. I Want Love
Yaassss!!!!
Bennie and the Jets!!!
@@PrincessLaMala1 Candle in the wind... Goodbye England's Rose. A must see and hear.
Don't forget ' Someone Saved My Life Tonight'
also throw in Little Jeannie
Funeral for a Friend / Love Lies Bleeding is a masterpiece
My daughter chose this song for the bride portion of the photos video at her wedding. Hearing it always brings back wonderful memories. I was blessed to see Sir Elton perform this masterpiece in person!
Don’t Go Breakin My Heart is an awesome song.
And Kiki Dee !
Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me, Someone Saved My Life Tonight.
Rocket Man 🚀🚀🚀🛸🛸🛰🛰 Also, Candle in the Wind (Lyrics by Bernie Taupin with music by Elton John). It is a tribute originally written in 1973 for Marilyn Monroe who had died 11 years earlier. Elton also sang a rewritten version of the song in 1997 for Princess Diana at her funeral. R.I.P. Marilyn and Diana. ❤
Once again Thank You for bringing back so many memories . All my girlfriends would sing this as loud as we could 😊
"Count the headlights on the highway"...So glad that you are savoring the songs of my childhood in the 1970's! Bernie Taupin and Elton John, one of the greatest songwriting partnerships.
The 4 guys in the Elton John Band are sooooo underrated. They really were extremely talented and creative.
Elton John & the Who..Pinball Wizard ..This is amazing.. You need to watch his movie..
His catalog is SO deep you could be listening for days! This is one of my favorites of his! I love when the drum beat drops!
The 1970’s had the best music!!! Try Elton’s “Philadelphia Freedom.” It’s a little faster tempo. 💜💗💜
I agree.!!!
Elton John hits my #2 favorite band/artist of all time. That brings to mind that the soundtrack for the movie, Almost Famous is excellent, has a lot of great bands from that time period.
Elton John has lots of great songs. One of my favorites is "I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues"
Elton John must really love Tony Danza...
Ha!
😃
I love this song but I hear Pheobe say Tony Danza every time I hear it now! 😂
Ay Yo, AAAnGela?
Hey, MOna?
Hey, SamanTa?
Ay Yo, JonaTin?
I loved Tony Danza, in "She's Out Of Control".
Drummer is Nigel Olsson......playing on many of Eltons songs.
Not on this one. This would be Roger Pope on the recording. Nigel didn’t play on the Madman album. Did play the promo tour however.
@@javamusik Ok....thanks for the correction Jeff. I had no idea.
One of hist best Albums.....Madman Across The Water. Saw him in November WOW!
Elton John was asked one time, how is this transition made between you and Bernie Taupin when it comes to the lyrics and the music you write to them. He was asked if him and Bernie got together and discussed the lyrics. He said Bernie hands me the lyrics and I write music to them, no discussion. He said most of the time I don't even know what the lyrics mean. I just write music.
“Funeral for a friend/Love lies Bleeding” isn’t a bad song - it’s kinda like Elton’s own Bohemian Rhapsody.
This song will always have a special place in my heart. When I was young my dad would put this on the record player and dance around the living room with me and my younger sister. Always brings the nostalgia.
Also, Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word and Empty Garden are some of my favorites!!
Please react to "Someone saved my life tonight" by Elton John. If I remember correctly, the song was based on a dark time in his/personal life. Listen to the message carefully. Such a beautiful, sad, touching, and emotional song. A true masterpiece. Thank you. OleHead
This song for sure all time classic
I had the pleasure of seeing Elton John in 1999 in NC! Just him and his piano!! No words!
Team Elton John up, w/George Michael & watch the outcome! George Michael sings in concert (Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me), an Elton John song & then Elton joins him on stage. AN ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE!!!
There’s no end to his talent. Great singer/songwriter and a living legend. Unique voice you recognize right away. Thanks for your reaction.
Thanks for the Elton John reactions! Some favorites of mine are Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Levon, Crocodile 🐊 Rock, Saturday Nights Allright for Fightin', Daniel.
So many great songs sung by Elton. Listen to Bennie & the Jets, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Crocodile 🐊 Rock.
This was from Elton's singing/songwriting heyday! Yes, he is a world treasure!!
Some of Elton John's hits are :
1. Sorry seems to be the hardest word
2. Goodbye yellow brickroad
3. Sweet painted lady
4. Someone saved my life tonight
5. Rocket man
6. Daniel
7. Nikita
8. I guess that's why they call it the blues

And you've done it again.. Love this!!!
Elton John - Bennie and the Jets! - Crocodile Rock - Rocket Man - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Don't go breaking my heart - Candle in the Wind
Come on ! I never forget to like. Keep up the good work.
Thank you 🙏
Elton - modern day Chopin and Bernie Taupin's writing, what a duo, very hard act to follow
Oh I love Elton John. All his songs are W0NDERFUL and BEAUTIFUL. Thank you for playing Jayvee
Just gotta say, There Will Be No Another "SIR, ELTON JOHN" HE'S BRILLIANT, AND SUNG WITH PASSION AND SOUL.. EVERY SONG IN THE 70'S...WERE HITS "MAD MAN ACROSS THE WATER"..✌
Don't let the sun go down on me.. listen to it. Elton john... Peace
There's great live TV performances of 'Madman Across the Water' and 'Mona Lisa's and Mad Hatters'. Stunning piano.
Great reaction Jay! You’re right there’s so many transitions and complex arrangements on this track and what’s unusual is that the chorus doesn’t kick in until about half way through the song. I’m not a huge Elton John fan tbh, but he has a few real gems. I think much of the credit must go to his lyricist Bernie Taupin, who wrote Your Song when he 17 or something
Levon is epic. I'd also recommend Daniel.
Levon!
Best scene in Almost Famous !!!
From the album
MAD MAN ACROSS THE WATER
lots of amazing songs on this album
Came out in the 70s
Out of all the “music reaction” videos people do you, by far, are the best! You can tell what a sensitive, soulful person you are. Keep up the fantastic work, I just can’t get enough!
Elton John Bennie and the Jets...one of his best.
besides his incredible voice and piano the arrangements of his songs are excellent
So glad you're getting into his work. Captain Fantastic album! Every cut on it is gold. His best imo. Esp *Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy* His lyrics have beauty and depth.
My favorite album! Not as popular but i think one if his best!
Bitter Fingers
Whistle Blows
Writing
What am saying, the entire album is the bomb!
Elton John
Someone Saved My Life Tonight
One of my favorite Elton songs that I haven’t seen anyone mention is “Skyline Pigeon.” It was one of the first songs he and Bernie wrote together in 1968 and was on his first album, Empty Sky. (First one recorded and released in Europe, the second album released in the US.) He plays the harpsichord instead of piano.
Tiny Dancer from the Madman Across The Water album, one of his best. The track "Levon" was released on single in the US c/w "Goodbye". on UNI records and later on DJM. "Tiny Dancer" was also released on UNI records in 1972 c/w "Razor Face" but no singles were released in the UK from this iconic album. Why the track Holiday Inn was not used by the hotel chain as an ad rift is beyond me. A great great album.
I saw Elton and Billy Joel tour together. Elto was Ill but he was still incredible. What an epic pairing!
And hearing Elton John singing this live makes it even better.
Love watching you listen to the songs that move me. Your appreciation for the music shines through your eyes and smiles. 👍😊
Love this in "Almost Famous"
Your pick for tonight's line up was excellent. Elton is one of the finest musicians we have. Thanks
My favorite song of Elton's. Thanks. Made my night.
I am sure that this is true for all generations...there are artists are so talented and so iconic that it is hard to understand how the next generation has never heard their songs. This song is just one of the many Elton John songs that are just as amazing today as they were 40 years ago. Thank you for appreciating it. Just a magical sound.
You've got to do a reaction to his song, "Nikita"
“Lay back and take it in”..... it’s how I always listen to Elton’s music. The musician notes are awesome. CROC ROCKING
This used to be my favorite EJ song until I discovered “Funeral for a Friend,” which is his real “masterpiece “ IMO.
He’s a truly gifted musician. I didn’t realize just HOW gifted he was until I saw “Rocket Man.” That reminds me to watch some documentaries about him.
Love watching your reactions to all of these great songs! Thanks for sharing!😀
“Sings right through you” and to you, with you, for you..... EJ one of the greatest. Love Tiny Dancer
with all the recommendations you got on Elton John you chose this.. proud of you!!
was never that big on this song till I heard it on the back of a bus and everyone just started randomly singing along ;)
This has got to be my favorite from Elton John. Thank you for doing this
Here's an underrated masterpiece not enough people are suggesting: Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters!
Such a great singer love his songs. Daniel is so lovely 😊😊💖
"BENNY AND THE JETS" That is all.
Bradley Hart Oh yes!
...Benny...
Another great reaction. I forgot how great Elton John's voice was, I love the orchestral bits too.
Elton John is my all time favorite, you should do Sacrifice.
Island Girl, Philadelphia Freedom, Someone Saved My Life Tonight, Levon...
early 70s Elton is the best ,Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Daniel. Candle In The Wind, just a few of many amazing songs
Madman across the water is a must.
Levon is mentioned a lot. Please listen to it.
One of my favorite songs. Again, love watching your reaction to these songs. You might like these - "Goodbye Yellow Brook Road", "Daniel", "Someone Saved My Life Tonight", "Levon", Elton John's tribute to Freddie Mercury - "The Show Must go On".
