Plus I don't think Gaijin will ever add the propeller version (The R2Y1) into the game at all, even though there was a full working prototype built before the end of WWII.

The problem is the R2Y2s werent even prototyped. They were purely blueprint only, just like the Panther 2 and Tiger 105. There are many tanks in Warthunder that are prototypes that have been built. The ostwind 2 was built

Play simulator as bomber and you get there fast as fuck

You have more than enough time to grind them legit.
I've grinded all 3 of them in about one week, starting with the ki-44 at 2.7 last month. No premium vehicles, no premium time, nothing.
You can do it. I did have about two days where I played from sunrise to sunset. My advice is to completely ignore the bomber line, find a fighter you enjoy playing and keep playing that until you unlock the R2Y2s. Personally, I spammed the hell out of the 4.0 Ki-100.
I understand why the are removing them, but isn’t this kinda boring? Instead of having these unique aircraft you get to grind out even more copy paste aircraft…
Japan should be exempt regarding of experimental/half built planes or even ground vehicles. Without them there will be nothing left. And I personally hates sub nation thing.
agreeed they should keep and even read the coealian and panther 2 and all that i just think its more fun to have more vehicles why remove fun stuff? its a game

What makes this infuriating is that after the R2Y2s are removed, Japan will have NOTHING at BR 8.0 anymore.

@@brentonlee5535 No, all you have to do is put at least one RP point into any of the three R2Y2s variants and you get to keep them.

Do they even have anything at that BR in ground? No.
Then why does it matter? The new Thai F-84 does its job (The R2Y2 is *supposed* to be a bomber, lol) much better, at a lower BR, and with a semblance of a lineup.
The R2Y2 is a postwar fake in almost its entirety, the only truth to it is Japan *considered* putting jet engines on the R2Y1.
You have to put at least 1 rp in everyone you want to keep. This means you have to research V1 and V2 but can wait on the V3
To be honest, with Gaijin removing the R2Y2s, to me, it's complete bullshit. I'm convinced that Gaijin, at this point, they want to get rid of unique vehicles. I mean, what's next? the Horton HO-229? Is that gonna get the chopping block? Who knows? I hope that isn't the case, but I really never see the point of Gaijin doing this. I didn't see the point of them removing the Tiger II 10.5, the Coelian, and the Panther II beforehand, and I don't see it now with the R2Y2s. I mean, the Coelian, they removed that and replaced it with a vehicle that flat out never existed, neither on paper nor in steel. To be honest, the Oswin II, it makes the P1000 RAT look real. I wager a guess I would rather have a fucking Nazi UFO than some bullshit modern copy-paste.
Because the R2Y2s were literally postwar fakes. The R2Y1 was the only one ever built and that was unarmed, the ingame R2Ys are postwar speculation- Aka, once again, complete fakes compared to prototypes like the HO-229.
The Tiger II and Panther II were also fake, given their guns *physically couldn't fit in their turrets*, though removing the Coelian was questionable at best.
Agree, besides War Thunder is just a game, there's no point on being this attached to "realism" since a lot of stuff isn't already

@@gustavosb115 Yeah, pretty much, because a lot of stuff in War Thunder isn't real to begin with. Prime example, the Japanese F-16AJ, and a whole host of other things. But yet again, I still think Gaijin are fucking idiots for doing this. These vehicles have been in the game for years.

There's no fkn harm to just leaving them in on the side. Removing vehicles is stupid and punishes people who were grinding in the past. I was looking forward to the Coelian and Panther II and Tiger 10.5 after getting partway thru the Panther line and Ostwind and took a break for a few years, and crap getting removed is part of the reason I rarely come back.
That's it, 5000 more copy past vehicles to every tree 🤑
Ahh, so the Japanese TT will have less aircraft again, i just finished researching them lol
Japanese air tree to me feels like the punching bag in BR increases.
Just look at the Zero, overtiered af you might aswell just play the Ki-43.
Then theres the J6K1 going from 6.3 which was fine to 6.7...
Then theres the mediocre J2W1 having bad climb, no turnability, gun gets nerfed (especially the Air belt), and not even an Airspawn despite being designed as a Bomber Interceptor.
Heck i even heard R2Y2 was 7.3 and had airspawn. Then it got removed and kept the 7.3 BR until its in 8.0 and hasnt been decreased since.
They really like USSR and Germany tree alot more.
First ever jet I unlocked was the R2Y2 V1, and I’ve loved the R2Y2s ever since. I’m glad that I have all three variants now, but it will be a little sad that no new people will be able to get them.
If they want to take them away, at least the should give us 1 day a year to research them like the maus, it is not fair for the player who came too late to remove the r2y2s
They didn't do that with Coelian and the others, so that's very unlikely.

The maus was removed because the snail hates you. The panther 2, coelian, koenigtiger 105 were removed because they didn't actually exist.

Can I be brutally honest? I hate these changes. Removing actually interesting WWII era vehicles for more copy paste cold war armor just seems like an insult to their original players and makes the game boring. Its like they dont want to try anymore.
Ok, April 30th is when they're getting removed. I just need to unlock/purchase one more vehicle to open up researching them, so I should be OK if I switch to premium or talismaned planes.
As long as you have 1rp point on any of the three, you get to keep them forever.

calling the R2Y2 V1 paper is straight up wrong, here is a quick rundown of the story: they made the R2Y1 which was a prop powered aircraft with plans to turn it into a jet-bomber, they were ready to start rebuilding one R2Y1 into the R2Y2 but the Y1's engine caught fire in tests wrecking the entire prototype, they started making another one which got promptly bombed before being finished, and while they were still making good progress on the R2Y2 by the end of the war, it was not enough to actually finnish the project.
so was it fully built? no, but that doesnt change the fact that all the parts for it were made, and the plane wasnt far from finnished
Thats still much more credible than the ostwind 2 which got a shiny new premium not too long ago but yet has no proof of ever being built.
I see no issue with vehicles like these, it adds uniqueness to nations that really need it, and shines some light on troubled projects from history.
Some may say "its hard to balance" but nowadays we have many tools that allow for simulating how such a vehicle would perform irl if ever finished.
If gaijin is so focused on removing them, then go ahead, but atleast be consistent in doing so and remove all the paper vehicles.

@grimmig13 eh, i really dont mind vehicles like the R2Y2 being in game, as long as they model them correctly and balance them correctly i see no issue...
I'd rather have them focus on decompression, and by looking at the current planned br changes, thats far from happening.
@derf5045 being able to model them correctly is the problem. So many designs work perfectly on paper, but fail dramatically in the real world. History of Soviet aircraft design is the most obvious proof of that, but it happened to every country in every aspect of warfare. From guns that shake apart the tank they are mounted on, to ships that had their CG so badly miscalculated, they sunk on launch.
Decompression is beyond necessary to keep the game worth playing in low/mid tier at this point, but if the last 10 years with Gaijin have taught us anything, it's that if it ain't making money, it ain't happening. And top tier is where the money is.
Make low tiers suck to give players hope that high tier is better, make progression slow to force people to pay-to-progress, profit.
The criteria for planes is different. it doesn't have to have just been built, it had to take flight on its own power.
The R2Y2, which did exist, never actually took flight.
I do agree however that these vehicles should've stayed in the game untouched
@@hatzgionule8037 so then why is the horten in game? It only flew as a glider, without its engines mounted, and i'm sure if that was actually the criteria they would've mentioned it in the deletion post (they just mentioned "vehicles built in steel")

With the introduction of the Thai air sub tree, the R2Y2s were already on game-end watch. It was only a matter of time.

Snail only cares about history when it suits them. Top teir should actually have decent interplay between the 3 top jets, but instead they a-historically nerf the f15 speed by roughly a third, and pretend like it belongs at 14.0 with worse missiles, and infinately worse maneuverablility than the RAF/EF2

I unlocked them like 7? years ago but never use(d) any; back than it was no point as it was a "dead end" of the tree, and later more capeable jets arrived.
Good thing I was able to grind them out the last time gaijin said they'd be removed. Pre uptier A6M5 Ko was a ton of fun
Finally!!! Have been in the game way too long.
It was stated several times that they get removed, and they still give a grace period of several months, so there was enough time to get them.
I havnt even begun the Japanese tech tree

Ah yes, the most simple realistic early jet Japan could have made gets pulled but all the _hypothetical_ upgrades so many tanks get are fine.

Luckily I already grabbed them when they said they would be removed forever ago. Fun planes and honestly they should just make them like other vehicles like the Maus and bring them back out for holidays or whatever.

Sad, but I understand why It's done. Also does anyone remember why they removed the Chinese PT-76 from the tech tree? I can't remember what was the reason.
I think it's because the Chinese never had it? And had the weird rip-off instead but I'm not sure at all
Apparently China trialed the PT-76, which should have been enough to keep it in the tech tree considering Sweden gets vehicles they only trialed without even having Swedish crews in them. For example the Mi-28 did its demonstrations with a Soviet pilot and gunner.
Anyway, the real reason they removed the Chinese PT-76 is because it is simply horrible. The Soviet one already sucks, but at least it gets a stabilizer, which the Chinese version lacks.

It is a mistake and shows double standards of Gaijin again.
The reasoning was they 'where not made or planned' in short, so they wanna remove them because they didn't exist in that form. However, the V1 version at least was planned and is documented, it was not built due to historical reasons, not even dropped as a project or so. Not to mention the R2Y1 with piston twin engines driving one propeller was built and flown in May 45. There is little question of at least the V1 becoming real later in 45, but that is speculative. What is fact is that a prototype with different engines did fly, and that plans existed for those we have in game right now.
The Yak 141 doesn't need to abide to the same rules it seems, it flew without any armament, in game it has it tho as well as special systems who lack any documentation of being planned at all, yet you hear nothing of that, of course.
Point being their standards change for each case, they are inconsistent and only take away content that newer players then will be denied forever. The Thai tree is bullshit, copypaste crap without any originality, also an F-84 is no replacememt for an R2Y2. They remove an original Japanese design in a country which already suffers from inaccurate CAS (no Ki-102 bombs, only bombs on the Ki-45 night fighter variant, no signs of the New Guinea Ki-45 for anti shipping (1x37mm,2x20mm,2x250kg), inaccurate Ki-109, no M6A Seiran (fast floatplane with 4x250kg or 1x800kg)).
If the fantasy Yak 141 stays in game then at the very least keep the R2Y2, which was on its way to become a thing and not dropped like the Yak because it was crap.

They only really do that for GE vehicles, never for TT (maus is a exception)
It’s really common for Gaijin to remove packs from the store when they don’t sell well (ie if they’re horrible like the T-2 early) or there are simply better ones (like the J-7D and the Al Khalid I believe)

Recommend as a collector but performance is lacking. At 8.0 and 8.3 you have sabers and mig 15s and further upteir you see cl 13s. These planes are a common sight and anyone that knows what they are doing will put you in your place unfortunately. It desperately needs to be moved down before removal
They need to provide replacements for the BR.
I wish they would remove the M109 and M44 from GRB .......they can take the Maus back as well

The whole game is paper now.Sweden in WW2 is paper,the Maus weighs nothing in the game when it was too heavy to ever serve in reality. So may vehicles in the game were terrible in reality and unusable.There is so much fiction in the game ,why pretend otherwise?
Removing would be refunding players and no one would be able to use them anymore. No one could take advantage of these possible OP vehicles. What they are doing just makes it easier for such vehicles to be abused by those that do own them. Hurry and "pay to win" before it's to late!

Before they got the much needed Airfield start they were the bane of bombers. If I was in a B-29 and saw one in the distance I would just J out so the noob didn't get credit for a kill.
They aren't getting removed "from the game"... they are - as you later explained - removed from reseach. They stay in the game, but become unresearchable. And then you repeat that the planes are getting "removed" again. Seriously, why are you so inconsistent in this topic?
