I ordered a dwarf tree and it arrived very tiny but with leaves, so I ordered another 4 pack to be sure some live just in case the friendly bunny hanging around likes to eat them. I bought a bunny fence for my vegetable garden. A disease wiped out their population here a few years ago so I`m hoping she`ll help repopulate my area for a future food supply so I tolerated a lot last year during a severe drought here in Louisiana and let her eat a lot of the beans and cover crops I planted for soil improvement. I`m planting around 8 fig trees, the mulberries, chokeberries, and pineapple guava this spring, and I hope to find affordable Asian pear and persimmon trees. When I was a child we had a wide variety of fruit trees everywhere and I`d wake up and eat fruit for breakfast.
Not sure if you'll see this on such an old video, but how did you go with this plant? I'm looking for something for my apartment. No balcony, but my entire north side is full height windows (I'm in Melbourne). We used to have weeping mulberries at my childhood home in Perth, and once they got going, they produced so much fruit!
For now it is in a 60cm pot and it’s about 7 foot tall and I’m not sure what to do with it. I can either pot it on into a 90cm pot, plant it in the ground or prune it hard add fertilise and leave it in the 60cm pot. The third option sounds the easiest though so I might go that way.
G'day mate. I just got a dwarf mulberry (morus nigra) from Bunnings. On the leaflet it says it grows up to ~4m tall. It doesn't say how wide it grows? Do you happen to know how wide they grow? I plan to plant mine in the ground. Cheers!
Hi! I just got a dwarf mulberry tree from bunnings and I'm planning to plant it in the ground. Do you know how far I should plant it from my house? Thanks
Hi Shirley and thanks for the question. It will depend on a few things. First is if you're concerned about the root system causing any problems with your house foundations than you need not worry. They have a light and fibrous root system that wouldn't cause any damage. On the other hand, they grow about 2 to 3 meters wide so planting about 1.5 meters from the house should give it enough room to meet its full growth potential. Hope this helps, Cheers, Stewart.
@@StewartDorman great answer, another thing to consider Shirley is the amount of fruit which will drop on the ground and make a mess and brings ants and stuff.
I just made an air layering to a red mulberry tree. You can see the video in my channel. But i don't want to plant it in my yard because they say it grows very tall. How can i make it a dwarf mulberry?
You can't, basically. It will always want to grow the same as the parent plant you got the cutting from. They can be pruned very hard after fruiting and again in mid-summer and this would be your only option to keeping it to a reasonable height. The dwarf I have is a genetically smaller plant, therefore, cuttings should maintain the same characteristics as it's parent.
I've recently potted my Dwarf Mulberry into a 115-litre pot. You can view it here. ua-cam.com/video/P-Laulgjuy0/v-deo.html

Sounds divine, I wish everything to go well for you.
Hi! I recently bought a Mojo berry the dwarf one. I haven't repot it yet. What is the sizes you recommend for the pot in liters?
Who else is growing a dwarf mulberry? Got any tips you'd like to add?
Leave them in the comments below.
No, they’re not fussy. Any, well draining, good quality potting mix will do.

Mabel N They’re a little taller than wide so around the three meter mark. All the best with it.

I see. Thats to bad because they attract to many birds and flies. But i love them. I will need to prune them heavily
Cheers. Good luck with it.
