I bought a six foot bare root white Pakistan mulberry from California. It was shipped to me in Florida and I trimmed it in half before planting. I made 22 cuttings from the trim job and 17 are showing new growth. Very good results. The mother plant is completely covered in new leaves and berries in less than one month.
Sir i put cuttings of it in sand and the bud shooted already..irw been more than two weeks in the sand...how long should it keep it in sand?? Or can i put it in container with cocopeat and soil mixed media?or should i waif for few more weeks?
Have one of these 10 feet from the house and 4 feet from block wall. Its about 15 feet tall now and I'm going to prune it back hard. Will try to keep it under control but once the trunk gets too big may have to get rid of it. Dont want the roots to mess anything up long term.
Yeah mate... I put one in at Angledool and found them to be almost sickeningly sweet. We have a big problem with Bower birds here taking the black mulberry, figs and almost every other fruiting tree (oranges and cumquats) and vegetable, but not this one.
Not sure on how cold hardy it is. I assume as cold hardy as any other mulberry tree. Yes, we sell this plant locally and when available, smaller size for sale on the website.
It is called shahtoot because that is what Indians and other South Asians call this species! morus macroura has long been cultivated on the South Asian subcontinent, my grandfather grew one in Jaipur in Rajasthan India. Now I’m growing one in the US 😊 Australian permaculturists and nurseries have been selling it for long time but they obtained the cutting originally from South Asia, where it is native to Nepal and has long been grown in gardens

Hey, do these give a double harvest if trimmed back like other mulberries?
new growth has more flowers so technically yes. But even without pruning, you will have more fruit than you can handle.
What’s the cold hardiness of this tree? I’m in zone 9a
not sure lowest hardiness but it will grow in your area
