  • In this video I show how I secure a joint with a forstner bit, a screw and a plug to add a nice touch to a furniture joint

    I use a similar concept but with a mortised hole about 1/2” deep that I fill in with a dark coloured epoxy.

      Nice...I have done that a few times as well. It looks really nice....in some cases its a bit transparent and looks great in light.

    Thanks for the insight, What drill bit are you using for the #10 screws? It looks tapered? Why would I want a tapered drill bit instead of a regular ( straight ) bit? Thanks!

      I believe its an 11/64" (I will check) tapered bit from lee valley tools. I use this because it was recommended to me by a chair maker. Also you need quite a long bit and these were the only ones i could find that are long enough. I think the taper bit is a good idea as well because they somewhat match the taper of the screw. What do you think?
