Destiny and this guy missed a crucial point - that Ayesha's father Abu Bakhr (who was Muhammad's right hand man) was uncomfortable and resistant to the idea of the prophet marrying his daughter because she was a child. But Muhammed told him its Allah's will because he had seen it in dreams and at the time alot of Muhammad's prophecies came from dreams. This is written in the hadith Sahir AL Bukhari. He married her as a child and waited until she became a woman (started her period) to consumate the marriage. Don't come at me. I've read the Quran and the hadith cover to cover. In modern days alot of Islamic scholars debate the age of Ayesha, some stick to the hadith and others dismiss the hadith and say she was actually 18 years old.
abu bakr wasn't uncomfortable at all, moreover he was happy, not even critics and the haters pointed anything about this marriage because it was thag common
@NPc because time is arbitrary and when you criticise islam you fall into an abyss of nihilism where even raping a fetus is just atoms getting mixed with other atoms, it's nothing more than that
"Maybe Allah, peace be upon them, infused her with super growth hormones or some shit" I love the chemistry Destiny has with these kinds of people, makes it really entertaining. All while being very careful with his words.
The problem with the Muhammad child marriage is that Muslims teach that Muhammad was the perfect man and that he is the moral example for all people in all times. So the argument that we can't measure him by today's standards is invalid by virtue of him being the moral standard for all times as the final prophet.
I’m also wondering this. Additionally they say that 6 or 9 year olds were older because of the life expectancy. But then they conveniently ignore the fact that it is because of a high infant mortality and not because people didn’t grow old.
As an ex-Muslim I can say you are absolutely right. When someone that was so disturbed like Muhammad is being regarded as the perfect human being to have ever existed and must be emulated by all humans till the end, Muslims got a nerve when others don't have an ounce of respect to give to them and their evil religion.
How is this unique? Moses had sex with several pre pubescent girls and ordered his followers to kill all women and men except those under the age of 9 - so that they're taken as sex slaves. This shit is in the old testament and not some secondary source as a Hadith. Don't see the mocking & scrutiny!
Regarding the child marriage rates in Malaysia, Destiny didn't calculate it correctly as not all Malaysians are Muslims. The country has sizable ethnic minorities of Chinese and Indians who together make up about 30% of the population and are largely non-Muslim with child marriages practically unheard amongst these groups. With about 23 million of Malaysians being Muslim, the child marriage rates for them is actually way higher.
It doesnt matter either way as this type of generalizatrions towards muslim populations doesnt actually make any logical sense on the ground floor (practical reality). In reality, Maylasians no matter their religion follow in the marriage and rituals of their CULTURE and ETHINICITY. So making this argument does not actually identify the actual problem imo
@@ahadkhan3486 What do you think ethnicity and culture are? Religion is often very prominent for a person's ethnic background. It is basically the third pillar alongside race and the countries their family originate from. Otherwise organized religion has insidious tentacles in every culture. Even as a Pagan I am culturally christian because I was raised in a place that is obsessed with christian imagery, pushes the "protestant work ethic" (but now just call it hustle culture), and has christian rituals recognized and enforced by the state.
@@haruhirogrimgar6047 I mean to say that Malasia has its own cultural practices that do not exactly relate to islam in any way, and usually these populations go with the marraige customs of their culture. What do I mean? for example I come from a pakistani family, and a lot of pakistani weddings contain rituals and practices that dont have any absis in Islam, and are purly cultural. The way we marry is also this way (we marry similar to neighbouring hindus and sikhs). So, if Im a pakistani Punjabi, its more likely that my marriage rituals a nd customs will be more along punjabi lines rather than anything else (even if we still call ourselves muslim). You could make the argument that such people are simply uneducated and thats why, but regardless thatrs how it works for most non-arab muslims ethinic groups
Also while I agree religion plays an important role in ethnic identification, it still depends on how that particular ethnic group relates to the religion, more than anything else. Thats the main point I was trying to make about generalizing any specific muslim populations
This guy really tried to say sexism and making jokes at the expense of a religion is somehow the same or in any way similar. Religion is an idea, a concept, a piece of fiction. Women are a type of people. Making fun of religion is more akin to making fun of Harry Potter books. No matter how much you revolve your life around Harry Potter, no matter how much you love and adore J.K Rowling, a critique on the fictitious story of Harry Potter is not an attack on the people who like Harry Potter. Why do historical norms matter? Either having sex with children has always been ok or it has never been ok. Using "It was a different time" is no excuse. By that logic, slavery was actually a good thing back then. Which it wasn't.
Where is the Christian country where there's a caliphate that will throw gay people off a roof for being gay? Where is the Christian country that forces gay people to get trans surgery to say there are no gay people in that country? Where is the Christian country that doesn't allow women to get driver's licenses? When was the last time a Christian drove a truck through a crowded street because some newspaper printed a comic making fun of Jesus? This "but what about Christians and Jews!?" Argument was tired decades ago.
i thought muslims believe in objective morality and not moral relativism. If child marriage was ok historically then it should be ok now. If Muhammad who is seen as the perfect example of mankind as a man in his 50s can have sex with a 9 year old, then they have to say its ok today. Thats why muslims struggle to say Muhammad was ever wrong, unlike most people who very easily say any form of child marriage in the past was wrong. Like slavery. Also there is a difference between a 14 year old having sex with a 13 year old, and a 54 year old having sex with a 9 year old. The huge age gap makes it much worse. Puberty is also a process that takes years. Just because a girl starts puberty doesn't mean she is physically suitable for sexual intercourse or child birth. Like roasting a chicken is a process. Its not ready to eat as soon as you put it in the oven. Finally, muslims say they dont worship Muhammad, they only worship Allah, but their actions betray their words. They clearly worship Muhammad based on the way they behave when a picture is drawn, or a joke is made about Muhammad.
I'm so tired of people claiming it was normal to marry people off the instant they hit puberty in the past. It did happen but it was NOT normal. It happened most often with the nobility who would be arranging those sorts of things for political reasons
The issue with people is that they ignore the life expectancy, health, mental and physical conditions of the people at that time and also a concept of “Urf” which is an Islamic concept meaning societal norms. Also, the fact that no one in Arabia actually was against the Prophet’s marriage when they literally wanted to kill the prophet and actually killed a lot of Muslims. On top of that, Aisha was already engaged to another man and her father Abu Bakr was okay with that engagement. If you still think that that is bad then that means Muhammad was pedophile, Abu Bakr was a pedophile, the first man engaged to Aisha was also a pedophile and all the Meccans were pedophiles or okay with pedophilia. This makes no sense when you realize that pedophiles make up like 1% of society or likely less. Also, if you believe the hadiths that talk about Aisha’s marriage to Muhammad then who also have to believe the hadiths were Aisha describes the prophet as an amazing husband, father, man, leader etc.
@@Ibaaz33 you are right, if we look at this logically, the life expectancy that time around the world was 20 to 35. I would say twenties in the arab parts because the environment is very Harsh. Now if people don't marry young, how would they have enough time to raise their children and teach them how to survive? Also logically speaking, people growing up those times should mature much quicker than in present time due to the harsh environments they are exposed to. Finally I would like to add that in Islam in order to marry a women, she has to be mentally matured, physically matured, and their guardian has to allow the marriage. This is why you don't find people before the 20th century criticizing islam about aisha marriage at all.
27:20 The difference is, however, that the Quran states that Mohammed is an example for all times and places. Not just an example, but an example of the perfect man. This means that marrying 6 year olds is considered perfect by the religion of Islam.

The age of consent when comparing it to the past is a complicated issue. First of all, the average lifespan of people was vastly shorter throughout history. People were much more susceptible to malnourishment, disease, poor medical practices, among others. Mother and child mortality was a major issue throughout history. So of course people had children much younger because they were predicting to live a shorter time period and a significant portion of their children would die. Secondly, the records we use to substantiate our claims of young marriage is often based on upper class or even nobility. Most of the middle class or poor class either couldn't read or were not important enough to record. Virginity was important throughout history but ESPECIALLY in these upper circles where an heir and inheritance was highly prized. Many marriages were arranged when affluent people were quite young or even children to swear an alliance or a gain of some sort, and then consummating that marriage sealed the arrangement. Children were tied between families, resources, and kingdoms and created the possibility for an heir to inherit the throne, land, wealth, etc. It makes sense for them to marry younger as there was more at risk. Child marriages were not normal in average families. All that I'm saying is that comparing modern marriages to older civilizations and cultures is not entirely fair. Full on disclaimer: I do NOT approve of child marriage or anything marrying underage. No no no. Gross. Child marriages should be banned, especially anyone under the age of 16.
Most people in the past married (or consummated their marriage) in their late teens. Child marriage was rare and usually was done for property or politics
average lifespan wasnt actually vastly shorter its just that a lot of children died early so they bring the average life expectancy way down. Which is why they had so many babies and started as soon as they felt they safely could which generally is after 16
It wouldn't be fair if we were judging a human based on current standards, but Mohammed was a prophet of god, he should know better than regular humans.
Even back in Muhammads day pedophilia was frowned upon generally speaking; the purpose of marriages was to further the family line as soon as possible as mortality rates were high back then just as the life expectancy was low. The combination of these two facts lead people to couple up at a much younger age than what we today would consider ethical now that our life expectancy has ballooned and our mortality rates have plummeted. But just because the age was low, that doesn't mean that there wasn't a limit. If a child had gone through puberty then that was them becoming adults capable of sex and relations; it wasn't like a mandatory minimum such as 18 - it was whenever that individual went through puberty. We also need to discuss terms; Pedophilia is the sexual attraction of prepubescent children; whilst hebephilia is the attraction of pubescent children. The latter of which was socially acceptable given the social utility starting a family earlier on in life had; whilst the former was frowned upon because there was no social utility there - only giving in to perversions. There was no other excuse for Muhammad to marry and copulate with a 9 year old girl; save for his sick perversions that would have been taboo even in his own dark and backwards sandblasted hell hole time & place on Earth that he resided within. Which says a lot about the muslims and their sympathizers who utilize their pedo prophet as a standard from which to live off of in modern times; even when the very muslims at the time of Muhammad would have been against it.
@@fifiadan Supposedly. Written records in the middle east at that time are dubious at best; the Hadeeths were a compilation of barely literate scribblings sprawled onto bark, bones & bits of scrap leather after all.
The clinical limit for diagnosing an individual with paedophilia is the persistent sexual attraction to children below the age of 13 according to DSM 5 , so yeah pubescence is not an argument against clinical paedophilia. Though I must confess the sexual attraction to children must be persistent, this is important cause 50% of those who sexually abuse children are not clinical paedophiles.

Destiny is quite weak debating islam. He needs to avoid any top muslim debater until he does more research.
abu bakr wasn't uncomfortable at all, moreover he was happy, not even critics and the haters pointed anything about this marriage because it was thag common

What’s the statistics on child marriage in Malaysia? I’d expect that country to have a marriage age limit.

I love how the response to the ddose situation is always "Just change careers, lol".
I'm so tired of people claiming it was normal to marry people off the instant they hit puberty in the past. It did happen but it was NOT normal. It happened most often with the nobility who would be arranging those sorts of things for political reasons
Aisha's father was Abu Bakr. The first caliph of Islam. So that sort of marriage you mentioned applies here.

Which is why they had so many babies and started as soon as they felt they safely could which generally is after 16
We are talking about the present and what people do NOW not THEN
@@SadEyes1412 So muslims having gay sex is ok cause its the norm here and now
It wouldn't be fair if we were judging a human based on current standards, but Mohammed was a prophet of god, he should know better than regular humans.
“Don’t bring up my wife” dozens of other men already have😭😭😭
Even back in Muhammads day pedophilia was frowned upon generally speaking; the purpose of marriages was to further the family line as soon as possible as mortality rates were high back then just as the life expectancy was low.
Aisha had gone through puberty so your whole statement is irrelevant.
@@ravercorum20that wasn’t the hadith. It was the quran. The hadith were compiled later on using chain of narrations. I don’t know the specifics but it had a whole method behind it.
