I think all these “luxury is for the poor” videos are just another trend because ironically, poor people actually do want to believe in that. Also, why are people only shaming women for spending on expensive/luxury items? Men have been spending ridiculous amounts of money on cars / watches / cigars for ages and when they do they’re usually praised for having a curated collection or elevated taste. Why do women have to feel ashamed for spending our just as hard earned money on a little fun and joy in this very difficult journey called life?

Who can afford luxury bags that cost thousands of dollars each, let alone own multiples? Congratulations to everyone with this kind of income. I hope you will also save for your children’s college fund, or make other investments to generate generational wealth. I believe in owning beautiful *esluxy* , but learning to save costs to buy these beautiful things. I've seen the prices on some of these bags and unless you're extremely wealthy it seems purely overpriced.

Why is it either or? I have stocks, and property, AND designer clothes/bags. People make a lot of assumptions about those of us who like luxury items. And let's be honest, the whole luxury market is overpriced. Loro Piana, Brunello Cuccinelli, Ferragamo, Kiton, etc. are not worth what they're charging, but you can believe that millionaires are definitely buying these brands. I also disagree that the designer bags are lesser quality than non-designer. My luxury bags get thrown around when I travel and are used often but they still look amazing, while my cheaper bags (with the exception of vintage Coach) get destroyed within a year or two. People who rant about this topic seem to be a bit jealous and judgmental, no one is forcing them to buy branded items, but they feel the need to poo-poo on those that do. I just feel like saying: MYOB and get a life.

Like I said in that video, I live in a nicer neighborhood and it is fairly common to see designer items. The families have money for house, car, retirement, AND designer items. Like after certain point in savings, what's the money for? If you have enough to live in savings, what's the point of saving additional? Might as well live life a little and spend on things like hobbies and nicer things in life. Otherwise, money earned is pointless.

Hey Jessie! Was cool to hear I was featured in one of your videos as I’m a fan of your channel ❤️
I think my issue with luxury fashion as a whole which I also mentioned in my video is that most luxury brands have been rapidly accelerating prices while the quality of the items have reduced drastically.
We all have an understanding that these things aren’t worth it and part of what you’re paying for is the brand name. That being said, if I’m spending $10K on a bag or $3K on a jacket it has to be significantly better constructed than a $100 item and be made with superior fabrics, you could count on this in the past. Unfortunately, in today’s luxury market this is no longer the case and that’s my biggest issue with the whole thing. I still buy into luxury fashion but I buy brands that from my experience of buying them still make good quality items (Rick Owens, Trickers etc)

Hi Aye! 💐 I’m a huge fan of your UA-cam and your comment means a lot!
I agree in terms of designer bags, shoes and even things like t-shirts being ridiculous prices these days! For myself I usually try and buy nice quality clothing second hand or when they go on sale!
For Gucci, I think the fact that they have outlets and do get heavily discounted does affect the overall appeal! One of my subbies even said she saw Designer Bags in TK MAX today!

I don’t know what the argument that only poor people buy designer bags because the brands give the rich the designer bags for free. Of course they give the celebrities the bags for free…so they can advertise them!
Also, are they arguing that we should not buy any designer bags because someone else gets it for free? That is so asinine!
We can buy designer bags for any reason-to wear, to hide or use as a pillow. As long as it makes you happy, who cares! I never begrudge anyone purchasing a luxury bag-it’s **their** money💃🏿

I didn’t know anything about handbags until about a year into the pandemic. I wanted a particular midrange brand and I started watching UA-cam videos. I was shocked at all these regular looking people buying designer bags. I didn’t know it was a “thing”. I thought those things were for rich people, it never even occurred to me to think of buying them. Honestly I’m still confused. I usually still presume people with a lot of bags are rich or upper income. But then I was watching Dacob’s livestream where they were chatting about 200k income and it seemed like many chatters considered that to be a lot of money. It is, but it’s not *that* much, in my mind, to be buying so many expensive luxury items. I don’t know, I’m still confused, lol. Since we must self-fund a lot of our retirement in the US, far more of my money goes to my retirement accounts and other savings than luxury, so I only have 2 “luxury” bags, but I enjoy my contemporary plenty. I hope others aren’t actually broke, buying LV …

I love designer bags because of the fashion history, 1…and 2, I like to flex. 😂 simple and honest. I said what I said 🤷🏻‍♀️ doesn’t have to be complicated. To each their own. Other people prefer replicas and throw their bags on the floor. Designer bags aren’t a big deal to them. Just saying. I think everyone feels differently. And that’s okay.
The point is, just do what makes u feel good and happy. Honestly I have no shame admitting that. It is what it is. I love that you’re very passionate about luxury handbags Jess. No matter what, continue to live your life without guilt or shame about it. 💜

I use dividends from blue chip stocks to get classic designer bags, and also own property that’s profitable too-it is possible to have all three. Time is the most priceless thing on this earth, and if people want to make assumptions about what I wear… there’s no point dwelling on it for me. They can stay being judgemental strangers, and I’m all the better off for not wasting my precious time on caring what they think. 🤷🏽‍♀️

At the same time, should we just save all our money? To me the answer is no, I try to find a balance between being financially responsible and still enjoying things that I really love. I think we’re in a pre recession era and everyone got over the overconsumption of everything def designer stuff. Also with tanner analyzing leather quality of designer bags being low mid, Dior bags being made for less than €59 euros, Chanel and lv quality plummeting, Hermes sales associates giving everyone the ick. It’s just so much that I have no desire for any designer bags right now. But yes logo flaunting is for the brokies. Technically at the end of the day depending on the designer bag, it holds its value or even appreciates in value where a cheap bag will be worth nothing. So cheap bags cost more at the end of the day.

I think people who pocket watch and bag watch others and judge their spending or usage of their items have issues. Everybody has a hobby or something they choose to spend extra on. Whether its sports, outdoors, traveling, cars, food or other items that they consider worth spending money on. Why is it an issue with bags? I never hear anyone telling a car collector they need to stop and ease up on the collecting…Like ease up on collecting those cadillacs and invest in your Roth IRA…that’s ridiculous…😂 LOL…

I do think that buying because you like something as the main reason is way different to buying to show off or buying as an addiction or buying to avoid thinking about your problems. The idea of “luxury goods” is not anything new. And there is nothing wrong with spending within your means (as Steph said in her video) to get the look you want.
The problem is when brands are exploiting workers or not taking any environmental responsibility. While there is nothing wrong with spending your own money how you want, I don’t know how I feel about supporting brands that are doing thjs.

Appearing humble and simple while amassing money may be more materialistic and complicated than someone who wants to buy some expensive bags to show off so I don't think I'm better than anyone else and I recognize that I'm also into acquiring things, just different things. Also, my investments profit from people going out and spending their money so I genuinely have no problem with people spending.

Frankly I do not know why they have so many collections? Why does Chanel have 10 collections per year. I think it is plain greed and wasteful. All these brands both high end lux and fast fashion need to do a serious re-think. I’d say a spring/ summer and a fall/winter makes sense. That is two collections and then they can do a few limited drops like maybe 2 couture shows for the ones that do that and a couple of capsule collections. I think it will be better for the environment as this obsessive need to constantly shop ( we have been brainwashed) with all these collections is causing landfill issues. I have stopped the obvious fast fashion when I saw the condition of the landfills in Ghana..I felt guilty and stopped buying from Zara, and H&M. Now I buy around 40% second hand and 60% new and my goal is to get to 50/50 by the end of the year.

Luis Vuitton and Gucci are at the lower end of luxury.

I'm a collector at heart and I've been collecting bags for over 30 years now. I also have shares and investments but they don't make me happy. Financial investments give me financial security but handbags make me happy. If something makes you happy and you're not going into debt to buy it, why not? Most things are cyclical and although luxury bags are not as popular now as they were they'll rise from the ashes like a phoenix 🥰

I think that is cope. I have stocks, crypto, savings AND luxury items. Granted I have moved away from super recognizable logos, but nonetheless I have a nice collection of luxury bags and watches. These things bring me joy when I wear them. I won’t do ready to wear though. I simply cannot justify paying 3000$ for a blazer. Just no.

Your sweater is cute! I did watch her video. When I look at my collection, I can see that I got the wear out of my bags and they are not falling apart. Before having these, i would wear through non-luxury bags quicker that I do find it worth it to spend on a bag. I also invest. As long as there is something I really want, and I can buy it, I think it is okay to do so.

Uploading videos while sitting in front of the designer bags already makes the influencers they are broke…..its like they don’t have brain , talent, style, taste for fashion 😅…,…….. spending alot of money on designer stuff for multiple items n lot of money on plastic surgery makes personality so cheap ….. it’s always better to carry single designer bag n shoes style differently on multiple occasions cuz it adds the value of that pieces to the style like made for you .. your iconic……… plus noooo plastic surgery looks go with natural beauty ……
