    Not mentioned in this video - Chief Inspector Japp's first appearance was correctly announced in the "Mysterious Affair at Styles". However, Japp and Poirot knew each other prior, and were quite friendly and Japp spoke well of Poirot - when not immediately in Poirot's presents. Also, C. I. Japp's first name is James. This intelligence is supplied by Poirot to Hastings in telling about the Inspector. As far as I remember, this is the one and only time Inspector Japp has a Christian name.

    Sadly unlike Battle and Race, he never got a standalone novel where he solves the crime and where Poirot is not even in it
