so glad more people come forward talking about this game. no one EVER knows what im talking about when I bring it up lmao its been a vital part of my childhood I fear
this game was literally SO MUCH of my childhood. the soundtrack is still a banger TO THIS DAY and it’s available on youtube, from its creator! thanks for another excellent vid salem :)
Thank GOD someone’s finally talking about this. It was my first introduction to the Sims and I could not get enough of it. My second Sims game afterwards was Life Stories. So imagine my confusion when I finally bought the Sims 3 and played a normal Sims game for once. I’ve got to still have a copy of this around here somewhere, but don’t know where. I want to go back to playing it so bad. The “secret” desert oasis and alien encounters were my favorite by far. Good to know this IS an actual game and that I didn’t just vividly hallucinate all of it.
I miss the Sims franchise being so weird. TS4 really let us down by trying too hard to market for a new, wider audience and removing a lot of the quirkiness in that endeavor. Like, sure this game sounds insane, but it also sounds like a plot my friends would have told me about their regular TS2 save.
I played this game EXCESSIVELY as a kid alongside Urbz for the DS. both absolute bangers that I replayed more times than I can count. but ngl all the alien stuff in sims 2 had me terrified- mostly because of the music and how they’d run at you. uncalled for fr. but tbf I was in elementary school when I played it lmao.
oh i legit got nightmares playing sims 2 ds when the aliens showed up. i wud timetravel bc i played animal crossing: wild world too, and once popped in sims 2 ds to see i caused an invasion. i was SO SCARED i didnt turn the game on for another 2 years
this game terrified me as a kid but I was also inexplicably obsessed with it. my DS' date and time was always like 3 years in the future because I was constantly cheating it forward to play more. shame you couldn't romance the same sex though Kayleigh Wintercrest had me in a chokehold
If you moved your clock back to the correct date and time the game would punish you with a constant alien invasion and you would constantly walk around as if you had just been abducted while that creepy music plays constantly. This is a very creative method to deter cheaters that would make sense in universe however I hate it because first of all I think people should be able to cheat as much as they want in single player games that they paid good money for and also because my little cousin screwed me over buy changing the date on my DS (that I was forced to "share" against my will) to 2099 and then played on my save file and saved so I could never play what used to be my favourite game without starting over (I had nearly 100% completion and to 10 year old me that was like my life's work) I'm still salty about it.
@@pinkdiamond1847 yep I was so scared of the aliens coming that I never moved my date back just kept moving it forwards. my DS probably thinks its like 2055 now I wish I knew where the charger for it was so I could check
Omg I had such a crush on Kayleigh too, I was so bummed out that I couldn't romance her. Still am tbh 😭 Everything in that town is weird but god forbid I want to kiss a girl???
Didn’t play this one but anyone here play sims 2 pets for DS? It was basically just a veterinarian simulator, except everyone comes in asking for you to bathe their pet
Tbh I only played it so I could exploit the game to make money in game (it's the easiest guaranteed way to make money in the Sims 2 DS) As a mobile game it would be fun but it wouldn't have the same appeal to me and knowing modern day EA it would probably be filled with micro transactions and loot boxes.
The hold the Sims DS games had on me. As a child I put hundreds of hours into Sims 2 : Castaway and MySims. And MySims Agents on the Wii, chefs kiss 😘🤌, I literally replayed it last year. The graphics are terrible but that's part of it's charm. I would LOVE a video on any/all of these, you have such a fun and calming way of explaining games.
I really loved how in that era we have sims2, castaway, urbz like- sims with storylines ! Why they stopped doing that I wonder? We need those juicy stories and socializing too ! I remembered getting so IN playing sims2 on psp and investigating the neighbours' secrets !!
Is this game an unhinged mess yes is it an icon also yes so iconic that someone by the name of Chrisnewbie on Tumbler remade the building and characters in Sims 2 and uploaded it as a neighbourhood/sub hood a UA-cam called Neon Plumb did a neighbourhood showcase that I recently stumbled across
10:47 If I'm gonna be honest, this is giving me the vibes I would get when I would picture the story behind the song "Hotel California" bye the Eagles.
I have been waiting for someone to make a video about this! Once I started watching sims UA-camrs no one would talk about it and I honestly thought it was a pipe dream.
This game was fucking nuts and low-key scared me when i was a kid but i couldn't help but love it I got soooo into it Glad to see someone finally talking about it
this video was fucking incredible!!! i love learning about this game and you really do a great job covering it. i’ve had a stressful day and this was so nice to wind down with
Just a couple of corrections from an annoying Sims fan: The mafia murder isn't a side quest, it's a main quest, and EA didn't make the sims 1 with Maxis, they just published and distributed it. Thanks for your video! :)
And SimCity didn't really outline the style of gaming for sims 1 because SimCity has a completely different gaming style and object. It's more of a tycoon style game, not a dollhouse style game.
literally my favorite video game since i was a child, i love sims 2 ds so so much it's such a unique experience. i still have to revisit it sometimes because it never leaves my mind. sims 2 ds 💚💚💚
oh boy a video about the sims 2 for ds on my recommended page with less than 500 views! i love the snarkiness in the script! i did enjoy the video!! i do need to note: I'm pretty sure that The Sims 2 for DS was created as the third game in a contract (to make three Sims games for handheld devices) that EA had with Griptonite (later incorporated into Amaze Entertainment), and EA didn't really care what the games were like as long as they were good (questionable for the Sims 2 handheld games, but the prequels, The Sims Bustin' Out and The Urbz were!) and just slapped the name 'The Sims 2' on it for recognizablility. either way, The Sims 2 for DS is much more of a sequel to The Urbz (handheld) and sister game to the PSP and GBA versions of The Sims 2 than it is a port of The Sims 2, even though EA pretended that it was just The Sims 2. also the games being inspired by H.P. Lovecraft and Stephen King sounds like a rumor rather than fact. i'm pretty sure these games weren't Intended to be horror experiences
I played this game for hours on end as a child. I never knew we were the hotel manager lmao I think I never got deep in the story because I coulnt read at that time, so I just wandered around doing random stuff and had the time of my life. xD
I remember it but I'm still sad no one really talks about sims 2 on psp anymore that was honestly one if not the best for mini games, storyline and omfg they need to do something about it for sims 4 idc. Since bella still exists honestly would be nice if they brought back that lore again when she used to live in that mansion before giving it up to the player.
Sims 2 for DS and for PSP were peak quirkiness and weird, but in a great way. I wish we could get something like this nowadays because they were simply hilarious.
I've only played psp and gba sims 2 games and goddamn aren't THOSE weird. edit: psp not ps2. for all I know the ps2 one's normal. The psp one is bonkers
the neutral, tired, almost dead tone of your commentary unironically made the entire video a whole lot funnier. it was as if you were tired of the freaky bullshit this fuckass game had to offer
i’m sorry how are you going to make a whole video on this wonderful hellscape of a game and not mention the part where you become a rat vigilante?
w-what
I was waiting for them to bring up the Rat Cave 😂
some things must be experienced first hand to get the full effect
Putting the clock forward and then back on your DS so your rooms would finish building and having to deal with the alien invasion as a punishment 😭
but you also got money compensation for fighting off the invasion, so it was a win/win, really
hahahaha i forgot about that
so glad more people come forward talking about this game. no one EVER knows what im talking about when I bring it up lmao its been a vital part of my childhood I fear

After rediscovering the music through this video, I think I know where my love of techno music come from….

I loved this game 😂 I played the card game in the casino for hours
I played this game EXCESSIVELY as a kid alongside Urbz for the DS. both absolute bangers that I replayed more times than I can count. but ngl all the alien stuff in sims 2 had me terrified- mostly because of the music and how they’d run at you. uncalled for fr. but tbf I was in elementary school when I played it lmao.

Bubaga tush naa👽 LMAO IT STILL HAUNTS ME

i had this one and HATED IT LMAO i could not figure it out at all, then again i was a slow kid 😭
Yes I used to leave my DS on all night so I could rack up money from whenever I went to bed till I got out of school 😂😂😂
I thought this was a fever dream I had as a child, I had no clue it was a real game 🤣 the countless hours I spent collecting gourds and rods is wild
I thought the same as I’d never seen anyone else talk about it
I want the little pirate cards mini game to be released as a mobile game on app stores. It’s a good little game and I’d still play it if I could
Tbh I only played it so I could exploit the game to make money in game (it's the easiest guaranteed way to make money in the Sims 2 DS)
As a mobile game it would be fun but it wouldn't have the same appeal to me and knowing modern day EA it would probably be filled with micro transactions and loot boxes.
I played keelhaulin' for 5 hours the other day and I can't stand it anymore.
The hold the Sims DS games had on me. As a child I put hundreds of hours into Sims 2 : Castaway and MySims. And MySims Agents on the Wii, chefs kiss 😘🤌, I literally replayed it last year. I’m sorry but Sims 2 DS will always be nostalgic for me lmao I spent hours playing that game as a kid trying to figure out the story 😂😭😭
Really loved this game despite feeling very eerie at times. And the GBA version gives the characters even more personality!
I will NEVER forget my feeling of disappointment when getting this game thinking o was finally gonna get the sims before I got a pc that could run it
Audibly hollered "YEAAAH!" when this video popped up in my recommended videos. I loved this game‼️‼️
You just reminded me that I had this Sims 2 game for my DS 😂 I forgot about it! But the Sim creator & hotel lobby totally brought back nostalgia lol
10:47 If I'm gonna be honest, this is giving me the vibes I would get when I would picture the story behind the song "Hotel California" bye the Eagles.
I thought that odd DS Sims game was just a fever dream….so happy someone made a video about it for me to get nostalgic @t 4am lmao
I have been waiting for someone to make a video about this! Once I started watching sims UA-camrs no one would talk about it and I honestly thought it was a pipe dream.
I had this game. My brother told me he found it creepy. I get it now.
This game was fucking nuts and low-key scared me when i was a kid but i couldn't help but love it
I got soooo into it
Glad to see someone finally talking about it
this video was fucking incredible!!! i love learning about this game and you really do a great job covering it.
i’ve had a stressful day and this was so nice to wind down with

This video is so well done. How does it not have it not have more views than it has
NO WAY SOMEONE ELSE REMEMBERS SIMS 2 IT WASNT A FEVER DREAM
can you make a long video explaining all the quests please? 😁😁
Just a couple of corrections from an annoying Sims fan:

I LOVED the Sims 2 on PS2 lol. It was my childhood but my ultimate favourite was Castaway
7:30 the video is great but that MCR reference alone made me subscribe immediately

I played this game for hours on end as a child. I never knew we were the hotel manager lmao I think I never got deep in the story because I coulnt read at that time, so I just wandered around doing random stuff and had the time of my life. xD
I played this once a few years ago. The vacuuming minigane was turnt
I was obsessed with this game omg I was JUST thinking someone has to have made a video abt this 💀
this was one of my favorite ds games as a kid
I loved this weird little game. I remember going too far out of bounds in the desert and getting abducted/dropped back into my hotel room. 😂
i remember forwarding the time on my ds for the rooms to be built faster and for store items but then accidentally causing an alien invasion lol
I was OBSESSED with this game as a kid, a literal gem that would never be made today
I remember it but I'm still sad no one really talks about sims 2 on psp anymore that was honestly one if not the best for mini games, storyline and omfg they need to do something about it for sims 4 idc. 7:58 Jschlatt?
the neutral, tired, almost dead tone of your commentary unironically made the entire video a whole lot funnier. it was as if you were tired of the freaky bullshit this fuckass game had to offer
