    These vintage electronic book presentations are my favorite thing that you do on your channel. Absolutely fascinating.

      Thanks John and, yes, it is indeed very interesting how they made this in those early days of the radio. I am still studying these circuits, and (of course) they will show nothing new about the radio physics, but they show a lot of how to make these radio physics work in practice, purely in the way that coils, tubes, tuning capacitors etc. were constructed. And how these components were "bonded" together in such a way that a stable radio circuit was created. 2 jan. 2025.

      Hi radiofun232, I have done the first part video of practical wireless circuits I have tried to do it so it can be paused and expanded so can be read "hopefully". Probably be in 3/4 parts. I'm sorry but I don't know how to create a direct link but it's on my channel brand 64 titled part1 practical wireless circuits. Hopefully you can find it regards John.

    Could AC mean anode cell?

    • @radiofun232
      @radiofun232  2 дні тому

      I think (looking at the whole book) it means "accumulator". Thus a (in those days, the 1920's) a lead acid cell, DC, to supply the filament. In the 1950's/1960's the tube filaments were more or less always supplied via AC current. That was my "hesitation" when telling it in this video. With AC supplied tube filaments hum (50 Hz-60 Hz) was a serious issue. Cured in some ways.

      @@radiofun232 i remeber in the late 80's my father had a hi-fi. the black furniture had wheels, the cristal door had a magnet push pull. it had 4 separated silver face components, on top the vinyl, radio, amplifier, and double cassette. i don't remember the brand nor the model, but that radio captured clearly more radio stations, with a led that shown when stereo signal.
      since the late 90's i haven't heard the radio because all receivers i had only could dial few stations. i miss that radio. i think it is hitachi.
      as cassettes and vinyls got obsolete when the cd arrived in the mid 90's, somehow we got rid of that machine, without thinking that the future would have no radios good enought.

      @@arcadepiano Yes, I also remember that well. I also have quite a few of these "units", standing there for "nothing" since 10-20 years, because all is now "streamed" from the www. And there is a certain risk there, when (say) internet connections fail on moment X for whatever reason. 3 jan 2024.

      @@radiofun232 i miss my parabollic antenna too. there was a timebetween 1997 and 2012 that i used to spend the nights enjoying the many channels, mostly german (28) and 2 or 3 on english. i cannot speak german but the images and sounds were great. back in the day the normal spanish television only had 7 channels, so having those extra 30 was awesome. it was before the digital television was launched, offering a lot of bad channels in spanish.
      that parabolic antenna had the command with very fast changing channel for zapping, less than a second per channel, but without black screen, so i absorved lot of visual data, variety. it was way before internet arrived to normal houses. actually the optic fiber cable arrived to my neighbourhood less than a decade ago.
      for me the most important electronic device in my house is the mixer yamaha mw12, which is the link between the hi-fi amplifier and the computer, but also in between i can plug guitar, microphone, piano, so i can make music.
      thanks to internet free sharing and thanks to the wd elements storage i have over 2000 programs of variety of sound for my piano and programs to make up enhancing any song, improving.
      thanks to all that i no longer have to worship to music celebrities because i have the tools to make it even better. i can manipulate also the movies to match my taste. the plugins are like a equalizer, but more sophisticated.
      i have this recording music studio since 2011, and i've been playing music since 1994. for 2 decades i only played the boring guitar, but now i can make any music.
      last think i am making a triangle shaped speaker box, because ehrlund demostrated in his microphones that the waves are neutralized at the corners of triangle. there is a video showing a triangle shaped glass of water, and we can see the waves stopes sooner. hence adding a washer to the mic capsule with the center a triangle improves the sound because it is like the faster refreshing rate (Hz) of a high definition screen. it can listen the next sound because it's not vibrating as much from the previous sound. it can hear better. this can be extrapolated to speaker boxes, but also to room acoustics. most rooms are rectangles, but probaly a triangled shaped room sounds better, less standing waves.
      happy new year from sabadell barcelona.
