Only God knows how far we would have gone even if we didn't win the World Cup. That team was the best we ever had, and we couldn't underestimate them. They topped as best in Africa and got the highest ever world ranking in the world for an African team. If Baba Yekini was supplied clean passes the way xavi and iniesta used to give that guy for barca b4, I dont want to call names because am a CR7 Fan. the truth has to be told, keshi and yekini were almost mates at the time, yekini was not a team player, go and watch the final against Zambia, you will clearly see that yekini was chasing statistics, highest goal scorer title at the expense of the brotherhood forgeting that in football not only the striker can score, that you have the ball to strike is only because you were passed to. That was what they were trying to make yekini understand, it wasn't an easy time for these guys, some of them were also looking for the chance to play for foreign teams too, yekini sidelined everyone on the team and took Adepoju with him. God rest his soul and that of Keshi

Keshi was beefing with Rashidi because Rashidi brought in Chidi Nwanu to the team .
That was not the reason the team beefed yekini, yekini refused to realise that it is a team sport, you get goals as a hit man because someone passed you the ball, yekini was simply chasing goal stats, he wanted to make records which is good but not at the expense of the whole team.

But for the sacrifices they have all made at one time or the other, and for the fact that God as compensated yekini with an immortal impact, I believe they should all be forgiven. Guys like Albert Anijekwu, Chidi nwanu supposed to be with the team since late 80. Austin converted to right back for him. There was one occasion Yekini was free, it should have been a one on one with the keeper, they did not pass to him. It was only Olishe in the team that was making good passes. We should have beaten Italy
