  • Alan Smith explains and shows the benefits of using a 40,000 PSI Hydroblaster to prepare a pool for resurfacing. The old way of prepping a pool is by using air hammers to "strip" away the old plaster. Using a hydroblaster removes less gunite from the pool which allows a pool to be resurfaced several times without any issues. Plaster, quartz and pebble finishes will also bond better to a hydroblasted surface compared to a chipped out surface.

Cooool, we’re doing chip outs about twice a week here near Orlando. The only thing I’d be worried about is the pressure pump needing replaced all the time on that thing, we go through pressure washer pumps all the time and they’re about $200-300 every time one burns up.

You can also use a scarifier for the floor and 5000 psi power washer with a isolating zero tip to do the same thing with out spending all that money on that equipment.

Is it faster to hydro blast compared to using a jackhammer?

Or you could burn the old pool surface with acid to remove the oils and stains and than paint the pool with bondkote a cement coating that will allow the new plaster to bond with the old and adhere to the pool save yourself a lot of work

You still have to chip below tile and around lights/ fittings

Yes but doing the water blast won’t cause de-lamination issue in the next couple of years and prevents cracks in the pool shell

Awesome. Now I'll just have to redo it in 2 years when it starts to delaminate
