    I really appreciate this video.
    I hope my head-shy rescue can be as chill as Bobby, someday. It’s definitely easier to tame a hatchling than it is to try to repair the damage done to an abused rescue’s trust. As you told me, it’s just going to take time, and I’m okay with that.

    I have been thinking about purchasing a snake since I am retired, widowed and I can basically have whatever kind of pet I'd like now. As you say, do your research first and I did not know they could live to be 30 years. Your shows are so informative, I would like to hear your views on how to handle an aging pet and specific problems they may have. Thanks for great vids

    When you mentioned Lucy getting so big to there youd have to let her crawl to her bigger enclosure lol Please make a video of that please!? That would be awesome. You guiding her from the pool table all the way to her new enclosure. Seeing her amazing length across the floor would be astounding. I am extremely fascinated by snakes, ball pythons specifically. I may be missing something on this next thing but did Lucy ever lay eggs? I cant recall ever seeing a video about Lucys eggs. Though, I could be wrong. Thanks for the awesome videos, education, and entertainment. You and Bobby are super heros. Ball Python Man & Bamboo Bobby! ^_^ I aspire to be as great of a BP breeder/BP UA-camr as you some day! Your videos do a lot for me. Best wishes on all of your future clutches!

    My boy is actually pretty defensive. He's tried to strike me 3 times and I'm not entirely sure why. But I'm starting to get to know his body language and understand what bothers him. I know there are some things that play into why a ball python might be so defensive, like age, how they're fed, when they were last fed, how they were treated by previous owners/pet store staff, mites, etc. We nicknamed him the Reptilian Knife Emoji, but his name is Uktena, which is the Horned Serpent of my tribe's mythology. We're going to try working on taming him down next week, a couple days after we feed him.

    A possible reason that spider constantly bites at you might be because of its neurological problems. Just one of the many reasons why I think it's unethical to breed them. Just my opinion. Anyway, have a great weekend Chris.

    • @vistuscaine
      @vistuscaine 5 років тому

      @Todd m it was just my opinion. But yes, many humans have neurological problems. Guess what else, many of those humans are in jail for committing absolutely horrible acts of violence due to those neurological problems.

    I have lots of luck with taming my snakes.. 90 % of them are tame like your Bobby. Most of them are also not head shy. I have a pied that is so tame you can pet her head even when she periscopes .I recently bought 2 brand new hatchlings and they are already super tame and not head shy at all.

Also like your bamboo snake hes very timid I'd like my snake to be like that one. I have the fear of them trying to bite me but I think I'll get one soon got the fever.

    HAHAHAHA! Bobby! 😂 Good scalp message?? Looked like he was trying to flip your glasses off'a you and onto him - only he was too small and they fell! I think if you're gonna get a Retic pup, would be good to handle them every day - just to let your body get used to hefting the weight as they grow - like body-building and increasing the weights gradually over time. Leave em for a couple weeks, and they gain too much incrementation that you haven't hefted yet.

My 4 year old Cinnamon ball python is murderously aggressive where she can have just been fed and left to digest, and if I tried to handle her any time after her digestion period, she bites super hard and wraps with all its might. You only have to assist feed for the first few feedings and only if the snake can't figure out how to eat. Once you get past the first few meals assist feeding then you shouldn't ever do it again.

    I feel awful for admitting this, but my Ball python has barely been held because we had a bad start in the handling process (I can have muscular tremors from time to time), then because of winter and my freezing home, I was too afraid to take her out and make her sick. It's been 6 months since I handled her last. She's kinda afraid of me now. She's not aggressive. Is there any hope of taming her?

    Chris I have a question for you. I got an adult lesser female from a buddy about a week ago and she hisses and jumps every time I open her tub or add water. Tonight she actually lunged at me and tried to take a bite. How am I going to clean her tub!? I’m not comfortable handling her or even opening her tub. I tried lightly tapping the body with tongs and even a metal mop stick but she bites every time. She really scares me so I’m not sure what to do.

    • @ChrisHardwickanimaladventures
      @ChrisHardwickanimaladventures  5 років тому +2

      You can try taking out the tub and put it on a table, then slowly spin the tub 180 degrees, that usually snaps them out of defensive mode. It's also best if you can have a clean tub all ready to go, then just pull her tub out, spin 180 degrees and while she is distracted come from behind and grab her gently the move her to a clean tub. Have to do it fairly quick so you don't give her time to think LOL.

    • @brandonhummell3690
      @brandonhummell3690 5 років тому

    • @ChrisHardwickanimaladventures
      @ChrisHardwickanimaladventures  5 років тому +1

      Probably best to use a mat underneath so you don't dry it out too much. I'd also use a dimming thermostat on that heat lamp, one that has a temp probe to dim the light if it gets too hot. I have a dimming lamp on my frog tank, works pretty good, but it's totally enclosed with a mist system in there too.

      If your snake has fluid coming out of it’s mouth it’s probably not vomit but the liquid is a tell tell sign of URI or an upper respiratory infection. If a snake regurgitates it’s meal it could be too big or not thawed properly, but if you see liquid coming out of their mouth take that snake to the vet.

    • @ChrisHardwickanimaladventures
      @ChrisHardwickanimaladventures  5 років тому +1
