This is the last Olympics during the Cold War era. The last Olympics West Germany played, the last Olympics the Soviet Union played. The first Olympics ever where the world came together in Union without any blockage from several countries. This is perhaps the best Olympics ever, I was 7 years old during this great world event. What a beautiful memory.

Beautiful song, hope at the end of era of divisions. I was looking for it thinking it was from Calgary Winter Olympics. Around the same time but it was Summer olympics, I was 8 years old then.
In September 1988 I was 6 years old. This was one of the first songs in my life, that got my attention. And the very first song ever, which I heard from an korean/asian band. Even as a only 6 year old child this song touched my heart. Many years after the Olympic Games 1988 I forgot this song, but "Hand in Hand" by Koreana was 17 weeks (!) #1 in the charts of West-Germany. As 16 years old teen I'd forgot this song already. Around 2010 I was searching in UA-cam and suddenly I rediscovered this beautiful piece of music! I couldn't believe that I forgot such a wunderful song. For me it's the best olympic theme song of all time.
