Irvin Kershner hired Leonard Rosenman to compose music for RoboCop 2(1990)., He wrote music for Star Trek IV The Voyage Home(1986) and the 1977 version of Lord of the Rings.
The thinking dimensions being simply "good" and "bad" is an issue. RC2 is different. RC3 has moments. And thats fine. People need to grow up, its like 30 years.
I actually really enjoy Robocop 2 and consider it on par with the first one. I also highly recommend Robocop Rogue City - the game. Very faithful adaptation
Loved RoboCop 2, saw it on vhs Japanese import at my mates. We were blown away. Kane was terrifying, could easily be a character in Tekken or Killer Instinct.
@@ZXSPEX Robocop 2 was the first of the two I watched and I've always liked it. I thought it had some great aspects. I like the action, the manipulation and rebellion of Kain / RoboKain. I also liked Hob, even though he was a young actor he gave a very convincing performance with both ruthlessness and fear at the end. I've always LOVED Predator 2 and never got the hate either. It's consistent with the first one, builds on the lore without going crazy, new setting, fresh characters. It's the perfect sequel. If you like Alien 3 as well then we're besties.
@@ZXSPEX A lot of underappreciated sequels. Die Hard, Ghostbusters and Gremlins are all iconic movies and even though the originals were the best I felt the sequels all tried to do something different and that only strengthened the franchise. It's been ages since I've seen Rambo 2 or 3. The action Rambo's are the only fair comparison because the first was a totally different form of movie. The Back to the Futures were all different movies and respect has to be given to that. I'm only recently getting into horror so haven't seen any of the Poltergeist movies yet.
There probably won't be a collection for the reason you stated. The movies are licensed to different companies. Arrow has the first one while Shout/Scream has the sequels. Similarly, Warners doesn't have the Rocky films, but they are distributing them for MGM.
I'm the 42 year old weirdo who still watches Robo 1, 2, and The Future of Law Enforcement (the pilot of The Series and considers it the actual Part 3) on my old VHS tapes that I've held onto. I've only ever watched Robo Cop 3 one time when it released on VHS as a rental, and have refused to ever watch it again.
I remember seeing Robocop 2 in the theater with dad. We were between a move from Indiana to Georgia and he was doing training over the summer in Oklahoma. My mother and I were along for the ride. But he agreed to take me to see it because we’d had watched the original at home on VHS when it released. That was like pulling teeth because he wasn’t too keen on me watching it at the time because of me being 9. Suffice to say there was a few times I had to convince us to finish the film because he kept stopping it during parts that ideally I shouldn’t have watched. Especially Murphy’s death scene. Of course we did finish it and agreed not to mention it to mom. Lol. He passed away last year after a decline with dementia. So Robocop is something I can always look back on fondly as something I did with my dad.
Dun liek it, the suit now looks made of airbrushed blue plastic which admittedly is what it was but the original colors were set for a certain effect which is now overdone in 4K.
I was lucky to watch Robo2 when I was around 16 or so, which means I couldn't see any of it's flaws then, and I still choose not to see them now. I love that movie.
Fantastic will import this now I know it’s not been DNR’d. Wow HD have it for just under £30 so will get it from them. Love the laserdisc mixes of films.
In my humble opinion some of these older films/shows should never be in 4K. Seeing Robocop walking around and CLEARLY seeing the undershirt just takes me out of the film as now I can pick out at the visual effects. It reminds me of TNG and all the gaffer tape and ripped carpets you notice while watching it after the HD update.
I loved Robocop. Remted the movie and loved it, then bought it on video and watched it all the time. Also bought and loved the game on the Spectrum but for some reason I dont remember being that hyped for the sequel. When i seen it I absolutely hated it. The first one was nasty but having the drug dealing kid as one of the villains just put me off the film almost immediately. I've watched it again over the years and my hatred has lessened slightly but I still think its pretty rotten.
Robocop 2 is a commentary on the fact that the media after the movie Robocop actively targeted children. Hence the movie and the bad guy are called literally Robocop 2. The movie is a critique of violence sold to kids. The Hobbs character is the kid that represents all kids. In real life Hobbs was a philosopher whose ideas centred around the surrender to authority. Cain is a character from the bible that killed his brother, in this case the brother is the original Robocop movie and ideas. I mean shit, they even say it when Murphy tries to shoot Hobbs and he says "Can't shoot a kid can you fucker" and minutes later he is killed by Cain who can target kids. The failed Robocop 2s killing themselves in the movie are representatiove of all the attempts to Remake the violent original that were all squashed in favour of cartoons and toys... People think the first Robocop is a criticism of free market capitalism when it is in fact a critique of what idiots call capitalism which is really crony capitalism or more realistically socialism as it actually exists in the real world not as it is described in books that are basically fairy tales. OCP has power because it is essentially part of the government... Dick Jones says so "Shit we practically are the military!" Police are a social program, Alex isn't screwed over by a corporation he is screwed over by the government who sell him to a corporation that they have hired to run a social program. Socialism isn't hospitals for sick kids, it is simply: redistribution of wealth (taxes), will of the people (elected officials), seizing the means of production (regulatory capture). The military and police are run by the government (will of the people), they are paid for with taxes (redistribution of wealth), and they are the only ones allowed to do that job, (seized means of production). Robocop is a critique of modern socialism.
Robocop 3 gets way too much undeserved hate. Is it as good as the first 2? Of course not. But it's a good PG-13 level action film that honestly doesn't need a bunch of blood and gore to be entertaining. Call it simple dumb fun but it's ambitious and does its practical effects well. Now id love to own this 2 release but Scream Factory has been seriously price gouging out the ass, especially with their packaging going for $100 or more, it's obscene. I'll wait until there's a sale or maybe pick it up from a brick n mortor store with a coupon or something.
Oliver, Millers version was heavily rewritten by the studio - they deemed it unfilmable. However, Miller did eventually release a comic book of his original script. Personally, I find the movie to be better. So I would agree, not really a comic book movie.
@@muckle8336 It wasn't rewritten by the studio, Frank was on set changing the script. His original script was too long and separated into two, with many ideas funnelled into Robo 3.
@@OliverHarper Robocop writers Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner, made major revisions to Miller’s original screenplay. I have to say that the changes seemed to have been made for budgetary reasons, sanity reasons and possibly because things like a child slave ring and half-naked women getting punched around - don't make for a great script lol. He was clearly on set, as he had a cameo in the movie. He was still heavily rewritten, and this still don't classify it as a comic book movie.

Robocop 1 and 2 are classics. I really wish we would've gotten a Robocop 3 with a tone that matches the original two and had its rated R feel intact.
I wish we would have gotten RoboCop Too. Wherein the corporation "fixes" Lewis
The recent Robocop game is a great sequel to the second movie
Love this channel. HOW?!!!.....is this not the largest channel for films and productions!!
It's really well done ! Criminally underrated
Really enjoyable sequel, even with the pacing issues. I watched it again with the commentary from Bad Movie Bible and Oliver, it was a fun listen!
