I love this comment. I think that’s what makes Julian’s voice interesting in one way. I has this sense of not super trying to begin with, so it still lends itself well when he actually isn’t trying. Definitely one of my favorite singers for lots of reasons. Lots of control and yet it’s so passive you almost don’t think about it at times.
Every time I hear a strokes song I just imagine a working class hipster couple chilling in their small quaint apartment while this plays in the background in early 2000's in the heart of a Brooklyn fall night when rent was affordable.
Poor Julian, he used to be so drunk and now he can't remember much of those good nights, being a Genius carries it's demons, he literally changed the world with it's music, just so fucking crazy.
@@discosecret6363 The Strokes were one of if not the kings of the indie rock revival in the early 2000s, and with how huge of a genre indie/alt rock is today i’d say the strokes changed the world plenty
@discosecret6363 Without the strokes there would be no arctic monkeys... So kind of changed the world or the rock genre for the 2000's at the very least
@@ajaxlewis7664 simple =/= bad when it comes to drumming. The effectiveness of the drums is how well they compliment the song, and id say making the drums any more complex for a lot of the strokes early songs would ruin them. Fab isnt drumming to show off his skill. Im sure he could do much more technical drumming, but chooses to do more simple beats like this to pair well with the song.
@@blossomingbeelzebub I understand what you're saying, it makes complete sense. It's just as a drummer I'm selfish and want to build with fills when opportunity arises. His drumming is perfect for the song. Just leaves me biting my nails and curling my toes for the potential fills. Needless to say, this does not make me popular with the frontman 🤣
this was towards the end of 2004 I think, which is when they were all just exhausted from crazy touring worldwide for Room on Fire. they were probably just tired and a little drunk

my fav genre is the strokes performing at talk shows in the early 2000s
pro tip : watch movies at Flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies recently.
@Saul Jase Yup, I have been using Flixzone for since november myself :D

Julian's drunk eyes and Albert's solo... this is just iconic
@nameface6934it’s ass bro
Julian looks like he’s barley trying and he still sounds like a god😂

He’s probably blasted drunk tbf lmao
Casablancas eyes working independently on this one.
LOL

Here in 2024
Julian's eyes look like they're a 2000s pixar animation

It was really like that though.
I've listened to this version so many times Im not used to the og tempo anymore
Both are amazing, the strokes don't miss
wow julians voice sounds so good here
julian sung so well here omg
albert looks like a mad scientist during his solo (it’s so badass)
Poor Julian, he used to be so drunk and now he can't remember much of those good nights, being a Genius carries it's demons, he literally changed the world with it's music, just so fucking crazy.
Ok, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Not denying this band’s talent and merit but “changed the world”? Indulge me.

Impressive. The live mix panned the two guitars R and L.
thats how it should be.
I like it when Julian widens his eyes ❤
I loved the way they made the song slower in this version
My guy Julian didn’t miss a single note here, almost better than the original
I love Colin Quinn, awesome to see him with the Strokes
he looks so pretty in white :)
fab moretti is one of the best drummers out there, pure class, taste...
I love this song but the drums are soooooo simple. It's on the same level as The White Stripes. The most basic 101 drumming.

Legendary.
...just...just so hilariously slow! Great sound though, as always.
👍💪❤️
They all make it look so easy
Wow!!! Julian giving it all with the voice. What a time to be alive the early 2000s
The way the camera man knows when the guitar solo is coming and who is performing it is really good 1:39
i listen to this sm i get it recommended after the most unrelated videos

This song is such iconic 😍
Julian is awake absolute masterclass
lol! I stayed up to watch this
Why are they playing it so slow lol
Otherwise this performance is on point, excellent
They often played slower on TV shows. It means more air time.
Guaranteed Ryan Gentles idea.
@feargm Yes, the band had to slow down because of Julian's alcohol addiction

Very good song
Underrated video
I'm glad you uploaded this! I was expecting that somebody upload a high quality version of this performance.
@Name Face is this ur band by chance?
Dang fab looks super tense at the start
Lol Julian immediately walks backstage as soon as the song is done 😂
Bro was drunk out his mind im sure that stage anxiety was slaughtering him 🤣🤣🤣
Nick wasn’t too far behind him, like a pal
so good 😮💨
I love the sound of the drum

I think that they’re slowing the song down for Julian idk 🤷🏽♀️
playback at 1.25 speed and it sounds awesome, play as it is its sounds like shit
It sounds good as is, they’re just playing at a slower pace/tempo.
That tempo is just too damn slow
