11 years ago drinking and doing drugs in my bedroom as an 18 year old listening to this song. I am now in Recovery with a year clean and listening to these lyrics now mean something completely different, Really relevant and powerful.
this song is seriously way ahead of its time, I can’t even comprehend how amazing it is. Looking back, it’s sometimes difficult to pinpoint exactly at which moment when you/your life changes forever. But I can for sure say that this song (& it’s POWERFUL lyrics + stunning video) specifically changed me/my perception forever. I am so blessed to experience Julian Casablancas’ art in this lifetime. The man is a straight up LEGEND.
This whole solo album was targeted unintentionally toward coming of age humans. It resonates so much with people finding themselves, and that’s the beauty. He has perfected all the messages and lyrics on every song in this album, and applied his music abilities to make them sound so damn catchy. 11th dimension truly is one of the most surreal and underrated experiences. It’s a shame that most of modern society distracted by music like 6ix 9ine, instead of listening to the Phrazes this man has for the young
His music saved my life. I had young kids right as the Strokes exploded onto the scene. His music was trapped in a time capsule for me, which I had the ever so enjoyable experience of unpacking each record like Christmas presents over this last year. Thank you Jules.

This clip is very interesting. It tells the story of a man in different eras and his level of counsciousness in each of those. His counsciousness is represented when Julian is 'orange' and he talks to himself by touching the dummy. When he reaches the top of the tower, he reached the ultimate level. It gets more interest if you read the phrases of each state and compare it to each other.
Nah. His first idea is him singing with his triple himself the whole video. But he choose this 3 eras instead. Sorry but theres nothing deep about this. Just a "sun" symbolism in the first clip and 11 is a repition number. U should check the Director history. The Director like symbolism aswell like Julian.

I am not 10 years late, I am just 10 years remembering this gem and how far I've come. Reminiscing my teenhood missing the innocence so. 10 years in a relationship, daughter is 5years old. Survived so much financial and covid stresses, siblings suicide, but pushing through to create a better world for our next of kin. "Forgive them even if they aren't not sorry" our kin deserves hope and kindness and I will do my part to ensure they have a chance at that.

Tienes toda la razón las canciones de Julian son tan interesantes, sin embargo, todos prefieren Arctic Monkey's y tienen más reproducciones que The Strokes no lo comprendo :c
I've gone down a crazy Strokes rabbit hole in the past 2 weeks, I hadn't thought of them for so long and it turns out they've put out 2 albums since 2011 and then there's this solo record Julian Casablancas put out in 2009. I'm truly addicted to this guy's music now. I read an article about how Julian said they were better than the Killers and how he couldn't understand why they were so big and how he thought the Strokes make better music. I couldn't agree more and it really made me mad that I was listening to the Killers back in 2007 when I could have been listening to a much better band in the Strokes. After Is This It you never heard of them in the news or on radio much. The world is really missing out on this band and dare I say a musical genius in Julian Casablancas. I know I'm late to the party on this one, but I love the Phrazes for the Young album now. I hope he continues to explore and create stuff like this and not get discouraged by critics and the mainstream not noticing. We all know its about promotion rather than what is really good.
I often come back to this song, it brings me back the best memories, the time I spent with one of my best friends whom I haven't seen in a long time while we were drunk, listening to Julian's n' The Strokes, and obviously the strong and beautiful message in this song... gives me calm and strength... I just wanted to write this shit out...
*Forewarning; this is a small close analysis on the song and as such will be far larger then your average comment, if you don't want to read about what the elements in the song represent and could mean, then skip over this comment* What I love about this song is the extremely intricate, clear, and positive meaning and moral of it and its lyrics; it tells a serious story, but its still very uplifting. Basically the tower represents goodness and ascending to being a better person. At the first level we see Julian has to learn that /anger is weakness and passion is strength/. We see this in his earliest flash back to (represented by his black-white Renaissance era scenes) He begins as a new musician and screwed over by the old guy. Instead of lashing out though he persevered on moved on, hence him climbing the first level. /don't be sad/ We see that he also says not to mope about your past failures and beat yourself up about them, this lets him move on the next challenge in his life. Throughout this segment is already hints of the largest challenge that is coming however that is for later. His next flashback in the sequence is set a modern bar and club which is the present; he has to learn that /honoring what we desire above what we know is right, is sin/; seen in him visibly faltering to the cheating girlfriend's advances. (Also note this does take place all in his lifetime as he has now moved on from his greedy agent and has become successful, the reward of the first level. We also know that during this time Julian learnt that he /does not have be smart all the time/ and realized that mistakes are okay. Tying back to the opening point of this paragraph) Julian decides to do what he knows is right above desire and ascends to level two. /don't be shy; at least not deliberately/ Even though people will tempt you with desires and are disappointing, its important not to hide; which is similar to the final and hardest part of the tower. So Julian has ascended what appears to be the height of morality and with his experience and is generally better then most people right? Well that's the final challenge in this song, trapped in an *Ivory Tower* as people are now flocking to him and trying to be like him since he is now an awesome person as can be seen by the banging on the door. Note that Scenes here are set in a Dystopian future; people's sin have ruined them and Julian having not been a complete Arse has been safe from the karma that life sends their way. Julian is well within his right to leave these people out there; after all it was their mistakes that brought them there, even they do not realize it. Hence his lack of punishment for his letting that normal guy die; however we also see him beginning to stagnate with his music and talent as he hides away. Eventually he realizes the final and most difficult lesson. /forgive them, even if they are not sorry/. Its important that we don't hold on to hate or cynicism and isolate ourselves, though you may only do the right thing for those you care about and yourself, you will never quite reach Utopia. Julian here learns Altruism and he relents and lets in the Cheating girlfriend and Greedy agent into his shelter, saving them from their sin. We see Julian learn his final and most difficult lesson and ascend to Heaven. Overall the song covers elements of Julian's life as we follow his career; he began with difficulties before becoming successful, we then see him relaxing in his tower which represents him just enjoying his fortune and life's work and stopping his music writing. It covers important morals in life, to be patient as it will bring one good things, to be conscientious and do whats right despite what you may want, and finally that Altruism will set you free and isolating yourself will only leave you miserable. SUPERB WORK ON THE LYRICS AND VIDEO WHOEVER WROTE IT! (and thank-you for reading this far, viewer, I hope the analysis gave the song deeper meaning for you.)

the truth is life chooses not to listen to words told until its to late and the voice that told them is gone
the world would be better if we all listened to the words of this song and the words people tell us
+Alex The Mephistopheles
dont lose hope or ambition, its those same sadistic fucks like u that make a difference in the world, all u have to do is find ur voice.
+Cinemaniac Jean
forgiveness is the key to everything really, theres no point in hating others, ur just as bad or worse if u go for revenge, and hate really doesnt matter its pointless, so just forgive.
+Cinemaniac Jean
what do u mean
I came for that quote:3
Why have I not discovered Julian Casablancas earlier. Pure gold
You found him now and that’s all that matters.
Lyrics
I'll just nod, I've never been so good at shaking hands
I live on the frozen surface of a fireball
Where cities come together to hate each other in the name of sport
America, nothing is ever just anything
I looked up to you, but you thought I would look the other way
And you hear what you want to hear
And they take what they want to take
Don't be sad, won't ever happen like this anymore
So when's it coming, this last new great movement that I can join?
It won't end here, your faith has got to be greater than your fear
Forgive them, even if they are not sorry
All the vultures, bootleggers at the door waiting
You are looking for your own voice but in others
While it hears you, trapped in another dimension
Drop your guard, you don't have to be smart all of the time
I've got a mind full of blanks, I need to go somewhere new fast
And don't be shy, oh no, at least deliberately
'Cause no one really cares or wonders why anymore
Oh, I got music, coming out of my hands and feet and kisses, woo
That is how it once was done
All the dreamers on the run
Forgive them, even if they are not sorry
All the vultures, bootleggers at the door waiting
We're so quick to point out our own flaws in others
Complicated mammals on the wings of robots
If you believe in this world then no one has died in vain
But don't you dare get to the top and not know what to do
Wow.....there seriously won't ever ever be anyone in this world better of a composer than Julian....I just can't get over how incredibly written and made this. It's far better than a masterpiece and I won't ever forget what he's done for music. Long live Julian Casablancas.
some real awesome positivity from one of New York's brightest artists ... FU%$ YEAH!!
This dude is a legend, god damn... if this song and music video were released today it would go viral.
I didn't realize how deep and introspective this song truly was before watching the music video and looking deeper into the lyrics
This is incredible. Julian is so talented and he has an incredible voice. Not only that, he's music has substance. I love the message in this song, and the story within the music video. What an incredible artist.
jules looks bloody good as an 1800's opera guy, omg
Yes! Also in The Strokes' Under Cover of Darkness.. He really looks good as a renaissance man :D
i think this is the definition of cool
julian is the actual definition of cool
i've watched this mv way too many times for the past 5 or so years and i'm still impressed by Julian's juggling skills
Esta canción me sigue emocionando como la primera vez.
Last weekend i went to a bar with some friends in Paris and there was this song playing, man I was so happy
Well that made me smile I hope your doing great 2020
i'd be so happy man

Raconte pas ta vie
You live and you learn, thank you Julian Casablancas
i love this freaking song so much i think its the greatest song ever written like i cant stop thinking about this song
"I just nod, I've never been so good at shaking hands"
Currently... WE ALL NOD
I used to listen to it everyday going to school in my high school days, It's been 7 years but everytime I hear it I feel like a teenager again, living with my parents and waking up early to school. It makes me sad somehow.
Am i the only one that was brought to tears by this?
I've always liked Julian's "Phrazes for the Young." Should do solo stuff again!
Julian te veré en 5 mesesSSSSS! Lollapalooza Chile 2014!
"Forgive them even if they're not sorry"
My man is speaking facts
Lol, if you forgive the trespassing, they got quantum head start to your future to do it again, but our ancestors are unchained and starving and waiting, lol, double 4 time
Yessss
I've been listening to this song non stop since I discovered it yesterday
Know that feeling - it's great :)
As a caution to people overplaying it: I been listening to it for over year later and it is still awesome!
Expect this to be a constant thing in your life, even after a while you'll still find yourself coming back.
Still?
This video is basically "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once" condensed into 5 minutes. I love it.
Song: 11th Dimension, Released: 11 years ago, Views: 11 Million........
It's pretty cool
Blow my mind
That's what I just noticed to haha
did you copy this comment or was it just a coincidence?
@@theasiainnovationairtechco2660 nope it was a coincidence
This song, man. underrated as fuck. Even if this song gets popular, it wouldn't lose any meaning, i'd click the hell out of the replay button just the same.
Wishing you all the best ✨

Julian= musicasasazo!! 🤟♥️
@Tania siii amiga lo sé!! ✨ Cosa bien hecha el Jules!! 🤟🏻
It’s criminal that this music video doesn’t have way more views. The video and song are amazing.
I feel like he could have been an amazing 80's movie kid actor.
esto debería tener mas visitas, me sorprende las pocas reproducciones de este tremendo tema
esta tema releaciona tanto con el corrupcion de Mexico.
Greed, Hate, selfish actions. Its up to the community to fix the problem not the rich.
Nada comparado a The Strokes.
You should listen to Albert Hammond Jr.'s solo stuff as well. It's amazing!
también creo q se ha ido perdiendo a los strkes son una gran banda y siempre los escuchare
Exactly.
Brandon flowers (the killers) is a great fucking writer (and singer) btw, particularly when you dig deep in a killers album and his solo stuff.
Dude I love your comment it said everything I wanted to say thank you
Is it just me or does Julian look wayy better without sunglasses?
kind of but still snl made him that way.... I think I bet not but still he I gess looks beter with them off
I often come back to this song, it brings me back the best memories, the time I spent with one of my best friends whom I haven't seen in a long time while we were drunk, listening to Julian's n' The Strokes, and obviously the strong and beautiful message in this song... gives me calm and strength... I just wanted to write this shit out...
I don't even know what happens in the videoclip. I spent all the song looking at how beautiful he is.
His voice makes everybody fall in love with him
Like wow...
Julian is that of :"one of a kind"
this song is heaven
Fanny Fressa he kinda sounds like the strokes, in my opinion
Because he is the lead singer of the Strokes, I'm a dumbass
Ted Mosby haha.. you figured it out
Yoo that organ cuh ❤❤
love this. he expresses what basically every musician feels.
“we’re so quick to point out our own flaws in others” :(
*Forewarning; this is a small close analysis on the song and as such will be far larger then your average comment, if you don't want to read about what the elements in the song represent and could mean, then skip over this comment*
What I love about this song is the extremely intricate, clear, and positive meaning and moral of it and its lyrics; it tells a serious story, but its still very uplifting.
/don't be sad/
We see that he also says not to mope about your past failures and beat yourself up about them, this lets him move on the next challenge in his life.
/don't be shy; at least not deliberately/
Even though people will tempt you with desires and are disappointing, its important not to hide; which is similar to the final and hardest part of the tower.

Sin is Honoring Desire Above What You Know is Right
hi, im german, im trying to translate this sentence in german, but 100% i dont have it, can you help me? what means sin is honoring desire? thanks
+Christoph Grambach this sentence means that sinning is doing what you desire even if you know deep down that it isn't right
