They absolutely are the most fun. Although their scale speed is much higher than real cars, they still are a lot of fun and you can actually tell what make the car is, unlike magnetic cars which are just a cartoonishly ridiculous blur. Nothing like fishtailing out of a turn and spinning the rear tires halfway down the straights with a tjet.
I agree. The close up shots had to be slower to keep the camera on them, but a full layout camera angle could have shown them at full speed, and these cars were very fast, at least fast enough to be fun. Later AFX and Tycos became so fast they took the fun value out of racing them. Too fast and you can't even tell it's a car. Nothing like hanging the tail of a t-jet out and then going full power out of a corner in a fishtail.
I bought one of these a long time ago.. ad I STILL have it!

I cut my slot car racing teeth on the Thunderjets as a 5.5 year old back in 1968!
Of all the HO slot cars, Tjets are the most fun to drive, IMO.

Why did they make the thunderjets in the commercial look so slow, I think speed would have sold them better :)

Wheels were too thin traction kinda sucked
@@ohger1 Tyco HP7 cars I find can fishtail as well.
@@ohger1 AFX had magna traction so basically they were magnetically glued to the track.
Tesla should bring out a TJ500 model. Or an A/FX.
