    This helped so much just to clean ours. Thanks for posting!
    Our bathroom exhaust fan sounded like a jet engine for ages. We would clean the fins periodically, but then one day it stopped completely and we just avoided turning on its switch. Finally decided to try to do a deep clean (and if that didn't work, a replacement), but every other video I found had a completely different set up, so those didn't help in dismantling ours. I found one other video that involved a Broan, but it took the person 45 seconds just to get to the part about removing the light cover (which is rather obvious), then never showed how to dismantle the rest of it or clean it.
    Your video popped up in the sidebar of the useless Broan one, so I checked it out to see if it was more infomative. Helped us tremendously in the removal process. Found our motor casing very rusty and the fan wouldn't spin freely; had resigned ourselves to purchasing a new one. However, on a lark, I took some 3-in-1 oil and lubricated the driveshaft; the fan spun freely by hand immediately. I hooked up the motor to an outlet via a long extension cord and the thing acted like nothing was ever wrong. Let it go for 15 to 20 minutes, partly to see whether it would die, partly to distribute the lubricant. Cleaned up everything we could and reassembled; flipped the switch and purred like a kitten! Sounds better than ever.
    This video needs to be THE go-to for working on the Broan 678 (and compatible) bathroom exhaust fans.👍

    You're the only guy that actually showed how to take apart the fan of this model. Thank you.

    Thanks for the video! Saved me over a hundred bucks - and bunch of time - since I learned I don't have to replace the motor mount or the sleeve. Appreciate you taking the time to film this. DIY videos are probably my favorite thing about the Internet - LOL!

    Thanks for the video. I was dreading having to tear up my ceiling drywall again since installing my Broan fan 20 years ago. I didn't know the fan motor was so easily removable. One less headache in my bath re-do remodel : )

      You are very welcome. Lucky for me I had experience changing dozens of them at work, where they would stall and become heaters instead of cooling fans. So glad I can help you. Wishing the rest of your re-do/re-mo goes great.

    Thank you for this. A lot of the other videos about replacing the fans with lights they were going up in the attic and hard wiring....I hope the one I am doing is like this. The house was built in 2006 so hopefully it is.

    I'm missing the screw that attaches from the motor to the light, any idea what size it is?

    • @ROYGBIVphoto
      @ROYGBIVphoto  Рік тому +1

      Hey I hope you found one already. Sorry to be so late. My motor came with studs and nuts like the original. You should be able to transfer them from the old fan motor block, or substitute with a 1/2” 8 or 10-32 screws. Take the motor to Lowe’s or whatever to be sure sure. Good luck! And thanks!
