    Make sure to check the fabric content!! If it’s cotton or any natural fiber it dyes well with the regular rit dye but if it’s any of synthetic it needs to be done with the synthetic dye- I had the same problem and it was why it wouldn’t dye some of my clothes the same/ as well as others! Hope that helps

    Black takes SO MUCH dye to achieve. I dye yarn and fabric, and black is tricky. I'm so sorry it didn't work out like you wanted. Dyeing them again should really help though! The packaging of the dye should let you know how much dye to use.
    I'm excited to see you try again! 💜

    Personally I find, hot water from the tap is not sufficient so boil required amount first on stove top then transfer to dye container and add - dye/salt/dishwashing detergent to it .... then the wet garments that are to be dyed. (For amount of water - I have an old large SS pot that I use which I have marked on its outside the water line in amount of cups then transfer it to my kitchen Stainless Steel sink that I use as my dye container.) *I believe it says on the bottle = 3 gallons of water which equals 48 cups (16 cups = 1 gallon) per bottle of dye to acquire desired color as shown. Am sorry it didn't work out for you but as they say 'practice makes perfect' so don't give up.

    Rit has an after additive to dip your clothes to preserve color. A super important step, use salt water for coton & vinegar for other fabrics.
    Watch a how to on their channel! You are missing vital steps!

    Maybe add the dye in the water first then add wet clothes for a more consistent color and texture result? Thanks for your bathroom laboratory lesson 😜!

    I would suggest using the RIT dying instructions that are on UA-cam or using the instructions and ratios on the bottle. Also you may have more luck using a reactive dye, RIT jet black, RIT Synthetic (most of those stretchy garments are filled with polyester and rayon).
    Also some color theory works pretty well here. Looks like the RIT dye is actually mostly purple. So you may have more luck when dying anything that was green/yellow.
    Every time I skimp out on the amount of dye I use I always end up regretting it 😂

    • @LayneNguyen
      @LayneNguyen Рік тому +1

      The real? Well, the real steps call for adding the dye to hot water first, then mixing the dye in the water. Next, add salt if dying cotton fabric and the correct amount of water per bottle of dye. I didn't see any of those steps followed. so if you call this, "the real" then ok.

    I think it’s because you didn’t use a color remover first. It’s hard dye over an original color, it just turns different weird colors.

      If it’s a porcelain tub, it soaks in the dye temporarily. But you can fill the tub back up with hot water and a little bleach and it goes back to normal! (Learned this from the tie dye community) ❤
