- In today's video, I'm comparing two Rit liquid dyes: Black and Jet Black! The Jet Black only comes in the Back to Black Kit so I was curious to see how it compared to the normal Black liquid dye. I also used the ColorStay Dye Fixative to see if this helps with fading when dyeing a garment. Watch to find out how similar or how different these to dye are! Hope you guys enjoy ♥

✨HOW TO DYE PATTERNED FABRIC DARKER: ua-cam.com/video/4Mt5UVshsSU/v-deo.html ✨
Also for other colors there is a dye chart for color mixing. Use it or your colors won't be what you thought they would. 😂
That was very helpful. I'm glad you held up the black gildan shirt against the dyed one. I was able to see the differences once you did that. I also appreciate you showing your "failed" attempt; it was helpful to see. Thank you!
you don't realize how different blacks look until you put them next to each other 😅 so happy you found this helpful 😃😃
Okay i am sold...i just dyed a shirt with the normal black dye and was wondering why it looked soo purple to me.. going to get the kit and dye it again because i want my shirt to be black not very dark purple lol... thank you for this video
i was surprised to see how much of a purple tone it ended up having lol. make sure to also use the fixative so it doesn't bleed afterward ☺️
I was considering using charcoal gray fabric dye on my old black jacket. In order to avoid the purple color. I think I'll try this jet black instead.
Wat color was it originally
Did you use the powder dye?
This is exactly the video i was looking for!
yay 🤗
🚨 USING DYE FIXATIVE VS. NO FIXATIVE IS FINALLY HERE: ua-cam.com/video/KU_PzSqmueI/v-deo.htmlsi=281D87mGGbb9SYwv 😊😊
i was thinking to get some dye to get my faded black clothes looking good again. appreciate the vid
yes, dyeing them will definitely bring them back to life 😉
Thank you for comparing!!! I also have the ‘purple’ issue. Definitely going to try the jet black kit!!
thanks for watching ☺️
I think Jet black is supposed to be used on a black piece of garment that’s faded. Hence the package is called back to black. While the black is designed to tie white to black.
probably, but i still prefer the jet black since it doesn't give off that purple hue 😊
Yes I can notice the difference!! Thanks for this!!!
thanks for watching 🤗
HOW TO DYE ACID WASH JEANS DARKER: ua-cam.com/video/E3t2mvkQ-cY/v-deo.html
I wanted to make my black pants blacker or something
They looked like as if u had a copper color shiny from a sharpee in surtain lighting
And in the sun light they look black
Aside from the experiment, that’s a cool ass shirt design to wear
i want to make a shirt like that, but black and white and add some HTV to it 😅
I wish you could just buy the jet black dye because I have so much rit dye that I didn’t need extra stuff in the kit.
right ?! they sell the fixative alone so why not the jet black as well 🤦🏻♀️
This was so thorough and exactly what I needed. Thanks!
i'm happy you enjoyed it 🥰
Great video. I'm really upset that Rit's DyeMore product is not available in fully black, only Graphite which is mostly a dark gray. If you want to restore black clothing but it's mostly synthetic, you're basically out of luck lol
and then they don't offer Jet Black on it's own either. make it make sense ! 🤣
I’m wanting to use the kit to dye my faded black dress a darker black but it’s 57% Cotton, 38% Polyester, and 5% Spandex. Would it really mess up my dress if I just dyed it anyway?
Please do more videos of RIT Dye and blow up your YT channel!
Best RIT video on here, period!
OMG thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks, I’m gonna try dyeing my pants to get rid of a bleach stain. And i think I’ll go with the regular black because it’ll match another pair that i have which is a little purpleish
make sure to use enough dye so it can revive the rest of the pants as well 😉
ordering the kit right now! Rit should sponsor you.
omg i wish 😭
I never comment but I was I was so pleasantly surprised and impressed with this video that I had to go to your channel and again pleasantly surprised. You should have more followers. I would really like to see a lot more comparison videos. Definitely a comparison of the results of with or without the color stay fixative but also more dye colors and technique. Over all, fun and informative video! 👍 I will share it with everyone I know. Hope it helps, thanks for yours.
thank you so much !!! that really means a lot to me 🥺🥰 i do want to do a color stay fixative video comparison. maybe test them both with like 5 or more washes and see what happens 😅
Ur a legend miss you understand exactly what folks wanna know
thank you so much 😭😭
Can you just pour the fixation in the dye bath at the end? I would think that it would work better like that instead of rinsing some the dye out....just wondering. Great video thank you
that's how their instructions state to do it, but i think since there's leftover dye in the dye bath it won't work as well and absorb on the shirt only.
Almost can tell but I appreciate your in person take for us so much ❤
thank you so much 🥺❤️
I failed so many times trying to dye my GI black. I’ll try again using this kit. But this time i won’t use the washing machine
i've never used a washing machine for dyeing something so idk how that works, but try out the bucket method and see how that works for you 😊
I love this!! Thank you so much I’ll definitely get my hands on the jet black!!
glad you enjoyed it 😁
Thanks for the video, this definitely sold me on the Back to Black kit!
glad you liked it 🤗
Quick question 🙋♀️. I wanted to dye some sweat pants black because it’s faded. The sweats has two small white areas with the logo of the sweats. Will the white logos turn black also if I submerged it in a bucket?
glad i was able to help you on IG 😉
Did you do it already? Same question
Screenprint or dtg designs shouldnt right? Even if its white? Im thinking only embroidery would but if anyone knows thatd be cool
Just to be fair. Your bucket on the left had some purple-ish dye when you started mixing the hot water. I wonder if that’s contributed to the tinted color
the purple that you see is part of the bucket. it was discolored.
so the dye doesn’t dye on polyester? i have a black and purple design hoodie, and i want to dye the whole thing just to make the purple design black.
this particular dye doesn't work on polyester, but this brand does have a version of this for synthetic fabrics which is their "DyeMore" line 😊
At the very end when you show the gray result and the charcoal result from previous attempts, I'm definitely sold on NOT SKIPPING the fixative step.
Just a quick observation that I have for you. As my first time watching one of your videos, the first thing that's very off-putting is you repeat yourself. Alot.
You're a bit monotone and the speed of your dialogue is way too fast.
Create some bullet points for yourself and put them up where you can see them while you're still looking at us. Slow it down and have complete thoughts and be sure to have tonal fluctuation.
I come from a family of teachers. You've got to be genuine and easy to understand. This is just too much like rambling, but you can do this!
Seriously, I want you to be successful, I'm not trying to be mean. It's just my first impression.
If you can grab people right away and keep them as subs, that's a win😊
I disagree. I thought she was clear and concise. I liked her delivery and she gave the information I wanted to know. The pacing was great. I Appreciate your opinion however.
thank you for the tips! i always have a list with me on what i want to discuss or else i forget lol. i tend to ramble on and on cuz i feel like i have soo much to say and don't want to miss anything. i agree on repeating myself too much and sometimes i even have to edit out saying the same things twice but i tend to do it just in case someone missed it the first time 😅 as for my monotone voice, it's the valley girl in me that will forever live on 🙈🙈🤣 i will take your advice into consideration though 💕
youre a queen for this
🥰❤️❤️❤️
How do you dye the stitching/thread? Tried the regular and synthetic fabric dye from rit and still the thread isn’t dyed…
Anybody have any success dying thread in clothes?
my thread never ever dyes. i'm assuming since it's most likely polyester. i'm surprised the synthetic fabric dye doesn't work on it either though 🤔
That 1st test result is actually the gray i want, do you think I should return the grey dye I bought?
stick with the grey dye. i only got that result cuz i used too much water and a little dye. it's better to just use the color you want it to be.
@@lucykiins okay, thank you!
So far you have the best review.. thank you now i know what to get.
thank you so much 😭😭
Thank you for comparing these!
thanks for watching ❤️
What about dying blue jeans? have you done one with the denim rit dye? Thanks 🤗
not yet, but i should try it ! what color do you think the jeans should be: faded or just regular ? lol.
Love these kind of comparisons!!!!
thank you 😁😁
Great video! Would you happen to know if dye would ruin my vinyl design on my hoodie?
a lot of people ask that and i wish i had an answer 😩 maybe i should test that in a video lol.
I am running to the store so I can dye my Lulus and my Rothy’s 🏃🏽♀️Jet black for sure
omg i want to try dyeing shoes next!
I always use the whole bottle and I cook it instead of adding it to hot water but I have to try this test
by "cook it" do you mean the stove top method? 😊
I use the regular dye on blue jeans and it gets them black by using 2 8 oz. bottles and longer steeping time.
glad to know 😊
How many t shirt can we make at once and how with a full bottle?
according to their website, 4 oz of liquid dye is good for 1 pound of dry fabric.
I wonder if you dyed the same shirt again if it would get even more black
i don't think so. i used a lot of dye for a small piece of fabric.
Sorry Lucy. To me I can't tell the difference. Also for the hot water mixture, is there some amount of measurement or kind a just guessing? Thanks for the explicit demonstration. I like it.
you can definitely tell in person. the camera sucks at picking up black lol. as for the water, as long as your garment can swim then you should be fine. i try to stick with a bucket that let's it swim freely, but isn't too big either you get me?
will follow this procedure! I'm wondering if I can dye the jeans while damp since I'm planning to wash it first before dyeing? (my awm doesnt completely dry clothings).
i've done that when tie dyeing before ☺️
i have a black cloth was faded out black and like to make a black again, what could you recommend?
the Jet Black ☺️
Thanks for sharing it was really helpful.
Am dying some stuff for a project and your video was a great starter.
so happy i could help 😁
If i dye some jeans with black dye and I don’t like the finish could I redo it with jet black and fix it ??? I really don’t want to mess up my jeans but I already bought the dye
@@kingjay3301 yes! you can even add some jet black to your regular black dye 😊
@@lucykiins awesome!! thank you for the fast reply 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
excellent video, thank you for doing this.
you can actually tell the difference on a computer, with HD on and full screen, you can see some of the pixels are purple-ish as you say on the left side, compared to the real black on the right side.
thanks for watching! i'm glad you were able to tell!!! the camera sometimes doesn't capture the true color, especially black so i never know if people will be able to see the difference or not lol.
This was so thorough, thank you!
so glad you liked it 😁
What about a hot pink prom dress. I know to use vinegar instead of salt but will it work
this particular dye only works with natural fibers like cotton. prom dresses are rarely cotton so make sure you double check the material type. you may need to use Rit Dyemore which is made for synthetic fabrics like polyester 😊
The black side has a reddish undertone, and the jet black side is truly jet black.
jet black for the win 😌
Extremely informative and helpful! 👍
thank you 😁😁
thats awesome have you tryed dyen it again see what happens? would like to see that video
since this was dyed already, i don't think the same dye would get it any darker. i think it'll only get darker if it's a different garment.
LUCY I'M HOME!!! LOL how many times have you heard that joke?😅😅😅
I do actually have a question, do you know how would this work on light blue pants???
BTW: Thanks for the experiment, I will be buying the Jet black Rite.
🤣🤣
it should work on light blue pants, but it's hard to say if they'll turn black or just dark blue.
@@lucykiins Thank you
Great video, just got to the meat of it. I used the grey on a white pair of jeans and they made them purple it was awful but the customer service sent me a free Jet black and fixative so It made up for it. Never got he pants fully black but hey actually looks cool.
wow it's nice to hear they sent you some bottles! you can always try doubling on the dye to try to give it darker look.
@@lucykiins True, might one day if it starts looking too purple but it's a pretty nice colour right now. Yeah they were really good about it, the Rit is not a great product but the customer service is at least great.
Ok I’m sold just cause you’re REBELDE!!
forever and always 😎❤️🖤
Thank you, por si I'm going with the jet black
you're welcome 💕
I want to know if this will also dye the Nike logo on my Nike sports fleece cause I want it to stay white but I wanna dye my sweater back to black
i think it depends on the type of logo that it is. is it embroidered or just ironed on?
It’s embroidered
Great job!!?👏👏👏👏 I liked the whole explanation and will return my black rot to get the jet black 😅🙏🙏
thank you so much ☺️
Does the rite color stay work after dying nylon???
hmm i'm not sure since nylon is a synthetic fiber. i would assume it wouldn't work.
Do anybody knows where I can find the rit jet black dye? Allll I find is the regular rit black dye.
the Jet Black only comes in the Rit Back to Black Kit. you won’t be able to purchase the bottle by itself 😕
@lucykiins Thanks I appreciate the feedback, Where can I buy the back to black kit?
@@nymost Amazon, Michaels or Joann. i have a link to the Amazon one in my description 🙂
So helpful! Thank you so much 🤘🏼
thank youuu 🥰
I can dye clothe with prints and it don’t mess the print stamp?
i'm honestly not sure 😩
I have a shirt with a print on it and rhinestones will the dye color the rhinestones black and dye the print as well? Thank you for the review by the way!
i don't think the rhinestones will dye all the way, but they may get a little darker and lose their shinyness. as for the print, i'm not sure about that either. is it like vinyl or is it painted on the shirt?
This was so informative!
thank you!!! 🥰
@ 6:23 you can see the difference in both colors
yes, in person it's more obvious !
Great demonstration! Thank you!!!
so happy you found this helpful 😌💕
*Straight-Up* need the jet-black I have been wearing my girl's hoodie and I accidentally got bleach on it 😭
you better fix it for her 😩😩😩
Thank you for this I'm doing some hats so was looking for some tips
thanks for watching 😁😁
It looks like the black is more of a warm black while the jet black is more of a cool black.
the purple hue doesn't give me warm vibes though 🙃
@@lucykiins Maybe I got them reversed. 🙅♀ Video was helpful.
This was so helpful! Thank you!
you're welcome 💕
I feel like by washing them together it coupd have mixed any residual. Otherwise, great video.
that's why they get rinsed before being washed 😊
What do you mean not waste 2 tshirts? They wouldn't be wasted you'd have 2 black t shirts, now you don't have any
i have one shirt with 2 comparisons which makes it easier for me 😊
Where can i buy the jet black i cant find it anywhere
i have the Amazon link in my description 😌 Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and Joann have it as well.
Can it work on black jeans
yes 😊
Adding Royal Blue and or Forrest Green will make it deeper.
really?! i had no clue!
@@lucykiins I hope you’re joking, I got that tidbit from an old rit pamphlet. Along with using Washing Soda to ‘prep’ fabric for dying and white vinegar for ‘setting’ dyes.
i'm not a dyeing pro so i don't know everything lol. thanks for the tips though!
What is the thing with a white bottle?
Rit Colostay Dye Fixative 😊
@@lucykiins Is it okay to use it with other black dye for clothes?
How many cups should I use for 1 heavy jacket?
getting rit of the colours
This was super helpful!!!!
yay! 😁😁
Invasive baby dye is tainted for some pastoral but this DIY was agitation and interesting works very nice I love the video!!!
thank you ☺️
Where to buy that product?
Amazon or any craft store! i have it linked in my description also ☺️
Helpful, thanks! Im gonna try to dye 2 white tshirts w printing on them w the back to black kit. Gonna try n watch all the videos i can to make sure i get the measurements right etc, may just use the entire fuckin bottle bc why not 😂
I shouldnt have any issues with the screenprint designs dying or getting darker right? There is some white on them but even if the white got a tad darker i wouldnt mind just dont want the colours on the screenprint designs to change just the actual colour of the shirt bc i hate wearing white but these 2 designs i loved were only available in white
Also compared to the gildan shirt was very helpful as well. But i like how it is a bit of a faded black. Excited and feeling motivated that i can actually do this haha
i never know measurements either and just end up using more than i need so i know it'll at least work lol. as for the designs, i'm not exactly sure if those will dye or not but i would say just to be on the safe side, dye one first and see what happens.
since your shirts are white, you can also tie dye them 😎 that'll give you a cool design.
Great vid. Detailed... very imformative.
thank you so much 😁😁
How many weeks before its fade again
i'm not exactly sure, but it could depend on how often you wash it.
How do you dye something black that has a white logo on it?
what kind of logo is it: vinyl, embroidered, etc.?
@lucykiins I think it's rubberized vinyl, thanks for responding
i don't think the vinyl would react to the dye since it's not a natural fiber 😕
@lucykiins that makes total sense, I'll take a risk..I mean, the worst thing that could happen is maybe darken the logo a bit right? Thank you
yes, exactly!
The way you said Palmolive 🥰 I’m changing dish soap
you know i had to say it in spanish 😅🇲🇽
I need help fixing a black hat thats faded pretty bad
if it's cotton, go with the Jet Black dye.
you were stirring this continuously for 60 minutes?
i would take 2-5 minute breaks in between, but yes ☺️
thanks for the video! very helpful
thanks for watching 🥰❤️
I'm interested in the way you pronounced Palmolive.
i said it in Spanish 😅
@@lucykiins 😂😁👍
These are ALL compliments:
1) You sound like a Hispanic Bailey Sarian
2) The way you pronounced “Palmolive” shook my beliefs 🤣
3) Great video showing how much better Jet Black is 🤘🏽
lmao THANK YOU!! i said Palmolive in spanish cuz i've always said it like that. didn't even cross my mind that it's an actual english word 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you so much this was a great video
thank you ☺️❤️
Thank you
thanks for watching 😊
The Black has dyed my clothes brownish
idk why it sometimes has an undertone to it.
Si soy rebelde
Thankyou so much !!!
you're welcome 🥰
I really wish they just sold the jet black by itself as an option.
same ! i don't understand why they don't 🙃
Thank you for this video!
thanks for watching ☺️
Thanks great job 👏
thank you 🥰
Keep up the good work
thank you 😁🥰
Um, even if you dyed 2 white t shirts and they end up in different shades, they're still 2 shirts you can wear. But cutting 1 shirt does actually waste a shirt, but ok 👍 you can always wipe countertops with it 😂
i actually like having the half shirt handy in case i want to compare it to other black fabrics 😅
