I used a candle & a metal fork to make the smoke effect on 1 of my tumblers I had made a while back. I so added a temporary tattoo to complete the design and it turned out really good. Keep the cre8ivity & videos coming!! Til next tyme...keep those cre8ive juices abrewing!!!

Watched your video on the wood grain and was curious if you could add a smoke affect on top of the wood grain around a logo (like you did your deer head)? Or with the alcohol paint would that be a problem? I would think after the alcohol paint dries it wouldn’t be an issue but curious if you have any experience with this. Thanks!
Question so I did this and I was happy with it , put epoxy on, now its drying. An now I really wanna make it more smokey lol if I let this dry completely, do u think it would be ok to go back to this method n give more smokey effect? Or think it will destroy it?
If it has a poxy on it you will need to lightly sand it with maybe 400 or 600 grit and then you could possibly do it again and then finish it off the same way with clear sealer and then epoxy... But I would say if you did that 1 and you're happy with it I wouldn't mess with it just do more on the next one
@@emilyfuentes4801 Ahhhh I see...what I did there was: the tumbler was black to start with. I layed the stencil (what would remain black outlines). Next I sprayed the tumbler white. Then I covered up the stencil with yellow 3M automotive masking tape and cut the contour with my exacto knife. Hope that helps.👍
The best for beginners it advanced is the Iwata HP-CS. You can do everything with this one, it is so easy to use, and it is referred to as the "work horse" of the airbrush world. If you would like more info or have specific questions, feel free to shoot me an email😉👍

35 years ago I worked at a paint and body shop for 2:00 hour. A guy came in with a paint job out of this world. Red with a yellow stripe with smoke in it. He had a cutting torch that when u light it u have black smoke and he blew the smoke in to the yellow

From yellowish gold with unevenness, to SOLID badass orange...what did you do in the cut out part? 😱 Also, checked the description, what did you use to paint them? Yeah , there are safer ways to get a smoked tumbler, but this was pretty fast . It's usually done by lighting a candle, holding the tip of a butter knife in the flame causing it to smoke , & holding your cup over the smoke. This is gorgeous though !
@@HopeRyan72 true , has to be very well ventilated , but should be to do epoxy anyway . I just meant fire wise . I personally would probably drop the torch thing 😅😅😅

Acetone on a tampon. The tampon will stay stiff and you can really rub if you need to or use papertowel or cotton ball .Personally I like how the tampons clean and you can reuse and toss when your done with them

What fuel do you use in the tiki torch for the most smoke? I assume alcohol burns too clean?

Does the sealer HAVE to be matte? I have a clear gloss that I have been tempted to use.
How did you layer the vinyl stencils together? It amazed me how they didn’t stick together when you ripped off the top layer of vinyl.

LOL...I tried to shows as many steps without it being boring. I used regular acrylic paint...took more coats than I thought it would

Yeah I sealed it after everything, then let that dry before I did the epoxy

You hold the knife over the flame till you get smoke coming off of it and turn the cup in the smoke.
I've made 3 tumblers with the candle/knife and I love the smoke effect it gives. Just takes a little longer. LOL
Every other video, they've used a knife. Never understood what the knife is for.
