How do you airbrush real fire?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 жов 2024
- My Peeps in the VIP Discord groups asked for me to do tutorial on how to airbrush FIRE! Fire is a difficult subject to master if you approach it the same way you do other techniques - you have to do some research on the anatomy of a flame and free yourself up to make the crazy organic shapes that fire makes. One note I wanted to add is that I am using the waterbase Createx line of paint, more specifically the Wicked line. With this paint you can either use the 4012 Reducer to thin and clean between colors, or you can use what I use most of the time which is Windex with ammonia.

You make it look so easy!! Lol. This is a stunning cup and it makes me want to learn how to Airbrush!
Thank you, I absolutely love doing fire!, it is probably my top specialty so i studied and learned and did many fire paint jobs
I’ve come across your video and have been watching ever since. I just got my airbrush kit today and excited to start trying and hopefully can get had as good you are. I’m a pure noob but been steadying so hopefully it works out. Keep up the great work
I DID IT!!!! I finally made flames. Not perfect but I'm proud of them. Lol. I had to tell ya. 🥴😁
Awesome!!
I love him! Very entertaining. I love the cup too!
wow you make this look so easy love it
Uuuh Suwabeee Malupit Mahusay ka Tol !? 👍💪🙏💗💗💗🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Amazing video, with great explanations. Thank you!
Your videos are amazing. You are so funny. I love watching your stuff. I'm going to try some of them.
Still learning the airbrush techniques. Do you have a video where you use vinyl for fire and then add airbrush for shading to make it a bit more realistic looking?
How is your voice just so suiting like i watch bob ross great tutorial always wanted to know how to do this
must be my southern accent, lol
I enjoy the personality as much as the great tips and lessons. Thank you for not being overly serious and keeping these tutorials interesting and steeped in humor. A guy or gal can appreciate all of it.
I just met you at the beach with your dash hound
Oh hey!!! It was nice meeting you!! You are going to have people jealous that you met Paisley!!
This video was mesmerizing. Your artistic skills are amazing, your study of an actual fire has definitely paid off. 🔥🔥🔥Being in your VIP group I am so disappointed I missed your LIVE when you did a glimpse into this video. I realize this is years of experience with an airbrush, but knowing this can be in my future is exciting. Now, to get started and practice, practice, practice. Oh, by the way, I so appreciate that you share your skills free of charge in these UA-cam videos. 🎨👨🎨🖌🥳
we miss you in the group!
You are so in the Bob Ross vibe in this video.
Yessssirrrr!...I mean ma'am
New sub from Scotland. Your fire is awesome, realistic and has a 3D image to it.
My heritage is from Scotland - the Duncan Clan. I am almost certain that the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design has to be my people!
Please please make a blue and purple flame!!!! Im trying so hard to learn the flames!
Great color option!
I love the look of just the white at the beginning... looks like a ghost flame!!!!
Looks like smoke!
Oh SNAP! This is AMAZING!! I've done a little airbrushing with cakes before, but this makes me want to start airbrushing flames on EVERYTHING!! Awesome job and ty so much for showing us how!
Oh, and I totally dig the Bob Ross vibe! 🌲 ☁️ 😁
You’re on fire!! I’ve always wanted to try the airbrush but I know it won’t be my go to. ( I love my alcohol inks, paint & glitter 😁)The story behind how I found you was looking for how to make fire with paint and your video with the glow joker popped up. I’ve subbed ever since😍 Question… can you recommend a fairly least expensive airbrush for beginners? Something a lil smaller that what you used?
Thanks!!! The Master is on Amazon for $30, that us what I was using for the white👍 Link in the description
@@DuncanCustomAirbrush Amazon is just taking my paycheck at this point😫 but thnx😁
So airbrush quality if your new to airbrushing get the cheapest master brush heck buy two! Expensive or cheap they will get the job done unless you need super fine detail. When I first started I’d read thin to the point where the paint looks like 2% milk. Lol get dark colored paper or cardboard. Now put water in the brush and start practicing you’ll be able to see the water on the paper. Next put a few drops of paint and slowly work into. That’s how I wish I would have started. Lastly don’t give up so yeah that’s my two cents worth. Have fun. L8er
Amazing 🔥
I am too terrified to use or get an airbrush. I KNOW I'm not talented enough for one. I once got one of those for makeup, like they show on tv... nope! It was broke in a month. Somehow I got all the makeup up inside the airbrush. I tried to have the guts replaced but it still never worked again. I love watching you, love your talent (you remind me of my son, who was an artist. he could use an airbrush, a tattoo gun, paint brushes and all kinds of art). I loved doing the 'sand' toombler! I collected sand from different beaches and used the beach's stickers to make toomblers for tourists!!
Yes!! Airbrush tutorial! This is amazing, you explain it way better than all the other flame tutorials I have seen. Thank you!
😉👍
ommmgg this is the video ive been waiting for ty so much!!!
Do you know where I can find replacement lids? Also, my buddy gave me his iwata, but the cup has a crack... Any suggestion on the best way to mend the crack? It doesn't seem to leak
I am so glad I found this channel. I bet you can air brush an awesome hockey goalie helmet!
Can you do mother of pearl like a clam shell how to paintit
its like watching Bob Ross with an airbrush. Love the videos
lol! Thanks!
@@DuncanCustomAirbrush Bro I literally grew up in the late 70s early 80 and my mom watched and painted with Bob for years...… So it was seriously very intoxicating to watch videos teaching me stuff I wanna learn in a voice and manor that is so nostalgic like this. Much appreciated for the memories and the lessons learned.
A tutorial series of different color flames
You know it!! I will do blue next 👍
The black base tone sets it off and gives it great depth . Absolutely beautiful job ❤
Awesome I have an airbrush gonna have to practice.
Hey man another option is Tamiya translucent they are smaller jars but they do the job.
This is stunning! For those of us that use alcohol ink... is the process the same?
I have never tried fire with alcohol inks, only one way to find out👍
Would you have to clear matte on each layer?
Excelent tutorial, thanks🤘🏼
Have you ever had issues with leaving grease from your thumbs on the canvas?
Now I need to get my airbrush back out. Thank you Duncan for that extra push.
Quick question. Could you use alcohol inks for this?
I love this! I think that an airbrushed galaxy tumbler would be amazing!
I love your video . I would love to see the blue and green fire. I really want to get an airbrush and try it
I know my kids won't get me the airbrush kit and compressor for Christmas. They approach my tumbler craft with a crucifix and bag of garlic. They beg me to return to papercrafting which I never ever left! But I get a pension and SS. I worked hard for it and I'm gonna get your recommended kit and compressor for myself if God willing and the creek don't rise. TU for the inspiration. I was first taken by your tangram cup. So I'm really fending it😋🤣
I hope you absolutely love it!! And you're right, you earned it!
I legit snorted with squirrel commentary
You surely do make it look so easy! I have an airbrush, sitting in a box......someday I will attempt it! It’s a cheap one my husband got from Harbor Freight years ago for a project he needed it for. He gave it to me because when watching your vids I said “maybe I’ll give that a try” 😂😂😂😂 that was probably a year ago!
I spy with my little eye an adjustable cup chuck 😂😂😂 @22:39ish! We stopped making them. Too much work and too difficult to show people how to use it....plus there is another maker out there doing something very similar! Sticking with the penpals and the other chucks for odd shaped tumblers! The bullet ones have been really popular! This fire would look awesome on one of those bullet shaped tumblers!
If you noticed, I did the actual detailing white parts with the cheap Masters Airbrush
yeah i like that thing! it is what I have been looking for for a while
DUNCAN!!! Duncan Duncan Duncan. My man. I need your advice. I’m in Australia… I’m madly selling off old craft supplies I no longer want/need/use to make cash and space for an airbrush - more specifically the compressor!!. PUH-leeeeeease tell me what I need to look for? The one you recommend on Amazon is set up for USA power and I don’t want to mess about with converters or step downs/ups etc
The best airbrush on the market fornthe money is an Iwata HP-CS. Iwata also sells airbrush compressors 👍
This video is FIRE!!
literally
Brother I’ve been airbrushing for about 6 months and I’ve been practicing at least 3 hours a day and I’m getting better I’m actually invited to the lowrider magazine convention to do skull renderings and Chicano art and brother where was this video when I was spending thousands to attend Mike valley conventions before he died I couldn’t get tru fire right ! if my life depended on it I bought all the “ fire templates!” The second degree burn and the smolder stencils and all I needed was my thumb ! Damn where was this video before I spent hundreds on stencils also brother you are the BOB ROSS of airbrushing and you ROCK !! 🤘🏻🤘🏻!!
Wow thanks for that!! I actually learned from fire from watching Mike Lavallee vids and taking pictures of actual fire and studying the organic shapes. I got really good at it and have since done TONS of fire paintings. Jack the pressure up a little more and go faster - that helps in keeping you hand in an organic flow, then you can work with what you see and build upon that.
@@DuncanCustomAirbrush brother I’m watching all your videos and it just makes sense I spent thousands of dollars on this art and so many times I wanted to throw my Iwata micron across the room cause first I’d have spider blow outs then my paint was to thick and didn’t get thin lines and Mike instructed me personally when he came to Pittsburgh for a car show with chip foose and my wife paid I think it was like $3,500 for a 2 hour seminar you got to work with Mike side by side you had your own easel and Mike and Craig fraiser would walk around and instruct us and they kept saying the phrase loose to tight !! Loose to tight ! And I never knew what that meant ? Cause I literally just picked up an airbrush and didn’t know the terminology like Tom cruise in days of thunder ! I could draw but I didn’t know the terms! I was an illiterate idiot ! And so I just quit doing fire and went full on skulls ! But literally 3 nights ago your video showed me what that frekin phrase meant ! God bless Mike he was AWSOME to hang out with but he just figured everyone in his classes knew the terms and he didn’t do a whole lot instructing or breaking it down he hid his secrets to certain things ! and when I would start I’d do the first layer red then my second layer instead of staying in the red lines I would go outside the red and I did the same thing with yellow so it looked all over the place no consistency or fire look it looked more like smoke !and you did something Mike and Craig couldn’t you gave me the instructions I needed I just uploaded my first tru fire painting and it looks like actual fire ! I see where I could do things different cause you showed me how to correct mistakes and that thumb stencil is priceless when I go to Los Angeles for the lowrider convention I’m using your technique for fire and I will promote you and your channel and use my thumb so when the other artists see that they’re gonna flip that’s gonna be the next big thing in tru fire airbrush so you are a trail blazer like Mike so take a bow cause you definitely deserve it ! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the help and inspiration and instruction I’m going to watch more of your videos I’m learning how to do geode tumblers. From the master ! Duncan custom airbrush thank you again
Marc ( aka EL PADRE AIRBRUSH !)
This is FIRE!!!!! awesome job
Duncan,
Would you please post the color number for each paint? Thanks.
i will try. just left for a week out of town
Absolutely love this tumbler could you do a lightning scene please thank you
I have one i did a while back on a hydroflask
Very AWESOME flames tumbler...love it!!! Keep up the tips & tricks, ideas, and videos!!!
I love all of your airbrush tumbler videos. I bought an Iwata airbrush and compressor. Just need paint and reducer. Looking forward to this. Thank you Duncan.
I just love you and your tutorial lol
Just picked up an airbrush kit and ready to try flames! Other than blue and white, what other colors do you use to create blue fire? What other colors besides green and white do you use for green fire?
I use a cobalt blue, and an oriental blue (kinds aqua-ish blue-green)
Bro , Ive seen heaps of these tutorial vids but this stands way above them all. Ucking fawesome .
A friend just gave me his iwata anest. The cup is cracked, but it still holds paint just fine. And it's missing the lid. Smh
not a full score but a 3-quater score! still good, lol
So cool 😎 So fun .. So badass!
Can you use alcohol ink to do this (in the airbrush)? What if you put a tiny bit of mica power in the alcohol ink and then airbrushed it?
the alcohol inks may bleed through each other but who knows, it may look cool! And it would have to be a very small amount of mica as to not clog up the airbrush
What paint are you using? Is It transparent or normal?
I know nothing about airbrushing.
I am using Createx Wicked for this project
Love watching your airbrush techniques. Another great tumbler and video.
Wowzer!! I’m always amazed at your work! Thank you for always sharing your amazing techniques with us an make it seem so effortless
Wow! Just WOW! That is amazing. Like truly amazing.
You are so awesome love watching all your video's but specially your airbrushing ones.
So when you said "spattery look" was it like spidering or dry spray?
dry
LOVE THIS !!! Even when it was just the white it looked awesome !!!!!!!
Hahahahahaha love the squirrel. Can't understand a thing he's saying. But he cracks me up.
Love this!! Still haven't tried our airbrush. Today may be the day! I'd love to see it in 🌈 colors!
You do fire so well and I cannot do it to save my life keep up the good work man
Thanks! I studied the organic shapes of actual fire extensively and I have done a lot of fire airbrushing paint jobs
Idk why I think this, but are u from Alabama?
South Carolina
That was awesome, and helpful.. little above my ability at the moment, but gives me a lot of help how to practice, thanks 😃 btw that tumbler turned out better than any flame one I’ve seen before
I still think you need to do the rust with the power wash......
I will definitely look into that!👍
I saw the grass starting to smoke. Excellent tutorial.
😂🔥
You are awesome!!! Thanks for sharing your expertise!
Amazing as always
Thank you for this! I have seen some air brushed fires but could not wrap my head around how to do it!
This makes me want to try airbrushing even more! Soon, very soon!
same here
Great tutorial! Makes me want to pull out the airbrushing kit and try something!!
Yessssss!!! I’ve been waiting for this one! Thank you!
I love this tumbler! I will practice. Thank you
Amazing 🔥🔥🔥
Just when I think it is perfect, you keep going and it keeps getting better! I love it!!
Love it!!❤🔥🔥🔥❤
I kinda Gotta disagree buddy about the Master. Hobby lobby has the Neo for Iwata for 60$ (not made by Iwata but made from Iwata blue print. Nonetheless Iwata put there name on it so it’s gone be quality. Only reason why I disagree is bc once I bought a quality brush, I realized my problems wasn’t bc of me, but bc of my pos airbrush(amazon 30$ brush) lol. And I thought it was me. And like you said tho, the EASE of painting and knowing u brush is goin to perform makes your confidence double automatically lol. I now have the Neo,Revolution, HPCS, And HPCH(.3mm w MAC.) I’ve been painting for bout 1 yr and Half, and I give up props on this tutorial. Very easy to follow along and it’s good that u go into detail of why u do this or that. Would really really like to see ur technique on a panel with skulls or w/e. Reallly like ur page. 👍🏻 👍🏻
U have a FB or anything?
yeah i have Facebook Instagram Tiktok. but i tried ny buddy's Neo and I didn't like it at all - maybe his was old or not in good shape
@@DuncanCustomAirbrush yea I’ve heard some folk say the same thing. I think it’s a hit or miss lol I bought a Revolution CR not long after that. I think it was 90$ and 30$ aint a big jump from 60$, but the performance compared to the Neo is ridiculous good. Which it is an actual Iwata too,so that’s prolly why. And then when I got the 1400$ stimi is when I got the HPCH .3mm. It has a Mac valve, and I would call it the CMCs 3 rd cousin but they are still family 😂. It’s awesome, but also hard to beat the HPCS. It’s helped me with my trigger control when attempting smaller details. Also got it bc it’s got a .2mm conversion kit. Old told me tho better enjoy it bc that’s the last money I can spend on airbrush stuff for a loooooooong time lol whats she doesn’t realize also, deer season is just around the corner down here and my bow is the shop gettin restrung lol like they say it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Lol
yes! I definitely would like to see the blue and green! I can't wait to try this!
Nice work man! I just did a vid on true fire using candies. I’m going to have to try it this way with transparent colors now too!
sweet!
Stunning!!
Just subscribed really enjoyed the fire video no intercoat clear between coats?
Thanks. I did not with the intercoat
@@DuncanCustomAirbrush thanks so its detail paint not candy
For the life of me, I cant do them flames 😫😫😫
it takes a good bit of practice for the fire
i love the blue flame
you explain things so good
What tip is on the iwata? Can I do this with a .3mm tip?
yeah thats what I'm using
Wowzers! This maybe the video that will get me to take my air brush out of the box! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us. 🦩🦩🦩🔥🔥🔥🚒
go for it!
Freaking wow this is awesome ! I’m so happy to see some airbrush tutorials! I bought an airbrush set up used it a couple times, but have been busy with orders so I haven’t gotten much of a chance to really work with it yet!… also, you did it again… I’m working on a Phoenix coming out of fire tumbler right now… please vacate my head at your earliest convenience… thanks.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really like your and how you tell us what to do and not to do whatever you like to do 🤣🤣..
But for real what compressor do you have to airbrush and how do you have it set up
I have a portable and a big standup. usually run about 35-40 psi
@@DuncanCustomAirbrush I have a 4gal portable as well with a regulators on it. And I have some airbrush to but do you think that is good enough to start off with?
@@DuncanCustomAirbrush also thank you for answering 😊
Absolutely beautiful I love the technique
Thank you so much for the fire tutorial!! My husband is a fire fighting instructor and has been wanting me to make him a fire tumbler but it seems so intimidating. I know you make it look much easier than it is, but it gives me an idea where to start. Again thank you!
perfecto!
O.m.g I am going to try and tackle this. We here in Oregon are burning up with fittest fires thanks for another great video.
Be safe! We in BC are burning up as well
Thank you for an amazing tutorial on air brushing. This fire tumbler is absolutely beautiful!!❤
my pleasure!
Absolutely gorgeous, would love to see a blue
Did I hear the squirrel say that the guy that envented true flames past last year?
Yeah, Mike Lavallee
@@DuncanCustomAirbrush sorry to hear this
Yep another true artist gone......
This is phenomenal!!
Blue flame would be cool!
oh you know im gonna!! The response to this video has been great!
@@DuncanCustomAirbrush AWESOME!!! I am still working on controlling my fat finger!!! LOL
This turned out beautifully. Love hearing the passion in your voice as you talk about your artwork.I too am an artist but haven't been doing a whole lot of creating lately.I found this video really inspiring.
You make like this little motivational art mini series I did: Art Motivation: ua-cam.com/play/PL46_imWqK7leBIBPcyaZFT67Mps0J1kRh.html
Awesome🔥🔥You're such an inspiration.
