    So she kills her husband and her research assistant because she snapped when seeing them having an affair. When she went to go recreate a new world along with her robot husband Mike, robot Mike is flirting with Joanna when thinking she was a robot. So Mr. Perfect man was not Mr. Perfect at all. What a waste of making a robot when he's just going to cheat on you. Although in the process Joanna did Claire huge favor when knocking his head off where no matter how you create the perfect man, it'll backfire on you.

    As a woman, I feel that the remake worked better because it showed that in a lot of ways, the book was not only sexist in its treatment of women but of the men too by assuming that all men wanted the same thing out of their wives, girlfriends, etc. It stereotyped the men just as much as it stereotyped the women and this movie breaks that mold when Walter shows his strength and love for Joanna by choosing not to change her even though they were struggling in their marriage due to her breakdown.

    Despite the differences between the Original and the Remake i honestly love this ending more. It has a plot twist no one saw coming and Glenn Close gives what could be the summarized of the over stressed Modern woman going insane from the pressures of society forcing women to take every role on at once. Despite the comical tones the movie does show what happens when someone (man or woman) tries to take on so many roles at once it warps them to the point where they can't identify themselves anymore. Sure living single role can be stressful to but their has to be a balance of expectation versus ability. Society demands women in modern day take on so many roles at once being a modern woman, a married woman, a mother, a sex goddess and it an do veritable psychological damage the same way how men try to take on so many roles as men. How men have to be the upstanding gentleman, the husband, the fixer, the role model, the female sex desire and it too can have consequences. It just goes to show you when we try to take on all these roles at once were bound to tire ourselves out and do something we might regret. So heres in hoping we find someone to share those roles with or maybe find a way to balance ourselves.

      @@MrRickster83 - I disagree. The original was subversive bull that got a pass at the time because third wave feminism hadn't yet arrived and men could identify with the unhappy feminist wife as a possible extra sex partner in the sexual revolution going on at the time.
      There was no Internet to point out how brutally anti-male, anti-family and anti-woman (80% aren't feminists), the original was. It was also for lower IQ people than the remake.
      Take for instance how, in the original, the fact that the dorky drugstore millionaire was able to enjoy lots of sex with a gorgeous wife, caused the two meddling feminist shrews to conclude that something was very, very wrong with the local community!!
      Do you want to live in a community where, when you're middle aged, meddling shrews will try to convince your hot wife to leave you for some hunk who is younger and hotter? Is something wrong with a society that will be happy if you get a good sex life through your middle age?
      And when the second shrew has a "change of heart" and finally cleans her dirty kitchen near the end, why did the protagonist freak out and almost run over two children on the street as she drove like a maniac??
      At the end, it seemed like someone had just talked some sense into her.

    You know it says a lot when Matthew Broderick is the only "real man" among these other guys. Also, I felt like he was always conflicted about all of this. At first, he is trying to become a stronger man and help Joanna stop being this perfectionist that ultimately hurt her in the end, but once he realizes that something is wrong and sees what happened to Roger, he does believe it's iffy... The only reason he doesn't come out and say it is because he's terrified about what the association might do to him and his family. So he plays it up like he's totally on board, but he actually is suspicious like Joanna. Problem is, he doesn't know if the men are watching or not, even in their own home, so he can't let his guard down or tell his wife. During the confrontation where he admits his insecurities, I believe he is telling the truth on how he felt, but again is playing it up as the men are there and he wants to get to the bottom of this. Evidence by Mike saying he hadn't seen the video yet. Upon realizing what the men are doing to their wives, he pretends to be onboard, but once he and Joanna are out of sight, he tells her everything and the two hatch this plan to stop it.

Like I’m all for being tall blonde and beautiful and being a happy homemaker but the wives were treated like sex toys and had little to no personality. I get what Claire wanted but the world she wanted was one where the women went from stressful environment to another.

    • @aria6168
      @aria6168 3 роки тому +32

      @@Valentina-ng4hh She said that the men were supposed to be turned next after the women. It was also established that many, if not all of the men in Stepford felt overshadowed by their wives and so didn't feel the need to think twice about having their wives turned into robots that catered to their every need. It could be that she decided to turn the women first because if she didn't then her plan would've had a greater chance of being foiled bc the women would've been harder to convince.

    Nobody can play crazy like Glenn Close. Even though this movie is a bit of a mess, it still has a great cast. Talented actors here. This is one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies. I know it's not great but I still love it.

    I love this scene because everyone was prolly thinking the entire movie that it about the "dirty old man" that Christopher Walken was... however, this entire time, it was a lady who created the idea behind stepford wives... guys always get a bad reputation by women that they are all Sexhounds ready to take advantage of any woman... when women like Glenn Close character are just as much to blame as any guy is
