When movie was released many people got angry because of strange reasons. Now when we watch the movie we get to know many things about life during 1857. Really our country people are stupids who fight over silly things and ignore the important things. We should respect the movie makers for this contribution.
Brilliant performance by Toby Stephens. We need more such tense outburst scenes in Bollywood unlike cringe calm cool larger than life sh*t we get to see these days all over.
Sir William Gordon, the fictional soldier, was right. The rebellion swept through like wildfire, and India gained its independence in 1947, hence losing our crown jewel and leading to the subsequent plateauing of that nation. Now, by pandering to Modi’s agenda, they are literally erasing the history not just of us, but also of other former rulers who governed this land of spices, thus further deceiving its people about what India truly was. The story’s narrator, or more accurately the interpreter, the late actor Om Puri, may he rest in peace, did not do justice to all the dialogues spoken in English in the movie. Sometimes his translations or summaries of what was actually being said in English were inaccurate, as in this very example. He translated William Gordon’s speech as an attempt to save Mangal’s life, which he did, but he did not convey other parts of the speech, a summary, or even a glimpse of what was actually being said. Gordon put his own military career in jeopardy, trying to warn and explain how the indignation of Indian soldiers would be disadvantageous to the company itself. Yes, this white lad, or ‘Gora’ as you enduringly name us, does speak Hindi fluently, and I also learned it like my ancestors did when they came to the soil of India. Now, my enduring critics will come, engaging in a shouting match about who is right and who is wrong, illustrating the black-and-white way of interpreting history, which is certainly not always the case. Well, I rest my argument. Have a good day arguing.
Yeah he could be real and I think British really don't want such a person to be remembered and winner writes the history but still I wanna what is the source of this character I mean somebody have rote about it
@@Ayumusician well As a Brit, I am inclined to remember that character deeply, for as a blind individual, I have endured discrimination owing to my visual impairment. Moreover, history abounds with remarkable figures from my heritage who have been overlooked or scarcely acknowledged in written accounts. It’s crucial to recognise that not every soldier within the Empire harboured a clear stance for or against its cause; many simply served dutifully, irrespective of their personal convictions. Consider, too, that within our educational institutions, countless unsung heroes such as janitors and support staff contribute silently to our daily operations, yet their invaluable efforts often go unnoticed amidst the grand speeches of the school’s leaders.
He is a awesome guy and handsome toooo
In my view mangal pandey was the best performance of Tobey

Not a good movie at all.
Propaganada and lies everywhere.
Anyways I only come here to listen the BGM, quite moving.
