This is a top-notch cocktail! I get rave reviews from my guests whenever I make it for them. If you don't have a fresh orange, you can keep some Angostura Orange Bitters on hand. Great substitute. Keep thirsty, my friends!
Okay so this guy just made me feel like I was in a movie and I walked into an Italian bar lol. I appreciated his flare and prefer this old school approach as oppose to the new school way. When he lit the orange my soul aged a little also lol.
Dale DeGroff is the Cocktail God! Well done!!!
I adore the Boulevardier. It's such a classy cocktail, and it is fabulously delicious! Use excellent products!!
style points for the pronunciations and the fire!
He is Dale DeGroff. Pretty much the 'godfather' of the modern cocktail movement. One hell of a guy too.
This drink really is fantastic and it's made perfectly here. For an absolutely killer twist, try swapping out the Campari for Aperol for a slightly less bitter, slightly warmer, more orangey drink. Killer.

I just got a bottle of Aperol recently and decided to try making a Boulevardier with it instead of Campari. I quite enjoyed the results.
I tried that i do like it better. I also put a couple dashes of orange bitters in mine
that would be a different cocktail
I love Campari... so I know I will love this drink.. that looks delicious
Good to see Mr. DeGroff, as always.
Dale DeGroff put together the first cocktail book I ever got, and I still use it as a baseline for my cocktails. I love his no-fuss style!
Was it “The Craft of the Cocktail?”
that sounds damn good. i am learning all sorts of new drinks to try. i also liked this bartender. he seemed very personable.
Sounds great
One of my favourite cocktail, I love the Negroni and I love bourbon or rye! So of course I'd love a combination of both.
So good
Time to dust off my old bottle of Campari. I believe I've found it a new playmate!
yum!
You're spelling "Campari" just right! Greetings from Milan, Italy :)
I use a little under an oz of Campari as it tends to dominate
omg 1:39 long and no one trying to be funny, perfect video! thanks!
1:39 isn’t long at all. There are videos over 4 minutes showing people making this drink.
@@brianezell5790 No I was just saying that usually in videos like this everyone has to try and be funny. Gots old.
A boulevardier is made with Bourbon. Made with Rye, its called an '1894'
+Chris Carrico - I keep researching this but I cannot find any reference to the name change. Every recipe or article seems to use bourbon and rye interchangeably. Just curious if you could help.

!!!
The Boulevardier ranks up there with the Sophia Loren.
double the whisky. Even rye does not balance out with campari and vermouth as well as gin does with all of its botanicals.
Just double the whisky. No need to provide any justifications. ;-)
I find boulevardiers more satisfying than negronis, but both are great regardless.
How can anyone like something so bitter like Campari?
It only makes sense when it’s mixed with other alcohol.
@@foolishspecialist7479 It's just more of an acquired taste. I hated it mixed with just about anything at first but now I like it all on its own, and many enjoy it before a meal on ice or even neat.
you'd have to enjoy something like drinking cough syrup in order to enjoy Campari straight. It's meant to be mixed into cocktails. If you still don't like negronis or boulevardiers, then switch the campari out and try Aperol instead to see if that works for your palate.
RYE bourbon is optional. I've had great boulevardiers with regular bourbon, typically Buffalo Trace, a decent bourbon for the money.
