Amy, about the eggs. The fresher eggs DO NOT peel well at all. We had chickens in the past and I could not use the fresh eggs to hard boil, I had to buy store eggs and even then, it's iffy. My method is to put my eggs into a pot of cold water, dump a bunch of salt in (1-2 T for 8-10 eggs) bring to a boil. Turn off the heat but leave on burner, cover and let sit until cooled. These peel perfect every time. Use your peeler and peel backwards like you do with a knife, total game changer! Have a lovely day! ~Angel

My sister told me that if you start your water and get it boiling then drop your eggs in and time them when they start boiling again for 10 minutes and then drop in cold water they will come out perfect. I tried it and it does work.

That’s how my grandmother taught me as well! I think putting the cold egg in the boiling water shocks it and makes them easier to peel. 😀

What has worked for me is to tap the bottom of the boiled egg and crack it…begin peeling there to break the membrane. It works every time for a perfectly peeled egg!

For your eggs, honestly it depends on how "fresh" the eggs are . An older egg's membrane is looser from the shell. Fresh eggs have a tighter membrane and harder to get it to easily release from the shell. That's what Gran always said anyways. Freshly laid eggs won't peel as easily.

Its how old the egg is. The older the eggs the better they peel. Air starts to seperate the membrane from the shell.

Amy from what I have learned it depends on the age of the egg, the fresher the egg the worse it is to peel, the older the better it peels. I think that is what I have herd.

I wonder if you use different pots to boil eggs would make a difference in the peeling...like a metal pot verses one that's coated in nonstick material etc.. Instant Pot is my preference and works great.

I boil my eggs and then put them in ice with a small amount of water. Leave them alone and let them sit in the ice water until they are cooled. Maybe 10-15 mins. When the eggs are good and cold just roll them on the counter and they will peel great. I see it on the cooking network and my eggs come out perfect.
Ice cold water and time is all it takes.

Amy, like you I tried so many ways to cook hard boiled eggs. What works for me is to place eggs in COLD water, bring to a boil unvovered then turn off burner, cover and let sit for 12 mins. Perfect eggs everytime. For peeling, I make sure I put them in an ice bath and crack the big end of the egg cool completely. Peel under running water. You HAVE to make sure you get the water under the membrane and they will peel easy. Hope this helps

Good Morning Amy! My boys preder the Aldi sausage over the WM, they say they compare more to the Mcdonalds patties. As far as the eggs pealing easy, I am with you I think its by chance. I do think the freshness of the egg is part of it. I have done all the suggestions and what works one time may not work the next. My crew doesnt care as long as they get their deviled eggs 😁 My crews favorite pies are pumpkin, pecan, and lemon meringue. Those are the top 3. I do make ,if I do say so myself😁, killer cheesecakes of multiple flavors. There I bragged a little on myself! lol Hope you had a great holiday!! Thanks for sharing!

Cook eggs in an Instant Pot. I love boiled eggs, but never made them because I hated peeling them. Once I got my Instant Pot, I've never had an egg peel funny. I make them all the time now. Just use the egg button. Perfect every time. I think the pressure releases the membrane from the shell.

I know you have heard all the deviled egg tips but this one is the king lol. Roll the eggs gently under the palm of your hand on the counter and the shell will practically fall off. I had the same trouble as you until I discovered this hack and now I never have any issues with the eggs looking great. Rolling it seems to just release the shell all the way around.

I swore off deviled, disaster eggs because of that very thing...BUT! Use the Instant Pot! Everyone has a different timing, but I use the 4 minute method - Fill the bottom with eggs - Pour in 1 cup of water - Set it for 4 minutes. Then give it a 4 minute release time. Release and put them directly in cold, icy water and peel them! They will be beautiful. You will be amazed and do a happy dance! No kidding! Thanks for the Rada code! I'll be buying those.
