Eruption sounds so much like a boss track. Stones of Years sounds like a level theme. Like something you might hear in an old SHMUP; you can definitely tell what inspired all of those old composers. The whole thing sounds especially Sunsoft, what a nice little surprise. Prog isn't really my thing, so I'd never really listened to this song, much less listened to it like this. Great job on this!
I remember one day my dad was playing some ELP on a road trip. First time I remember hearing them. It might have been Tocatta or Trilogy, maybe something else. All I know is it instantly put visions of PS1 Final Fantasy in my head, FF9 especially. I found out later that Uematsu really is heavily inspired by ELP but it really clicked for me there in the car on that road trip. I don't know if I ever showed my dad any comparisons between the two, but I'm definitely showing him this!
imagine aquatarkus in a hard platform level in a 1990's game or eruption as a boss theme (the first 30 seconds are the cutscene) edit: this was also posted on my birthday
I don't think I've heard a more proportionally perfect chiptune cover in my life. Everything sounds how it should. Even the vocals sound good. I don't think this could be beat unless someone did the entirety of A Passion Play by Jethro Tull this good.
Isabelle, your covers really rocked. also, I loved you and NeonLuigi's cover of Sonic Mania - Studiopolis Zone Act 1. like, you did fantastic on it. Keep up the good work, Aqeel :)
anyway, having now looped this a couple dozen times, i think i can say that this is for sure in the top 2 of tarkus covers. might even be number one due to how accurately you translated the original into chipped tunes bravo, isabelle!
@@zafiredragoon5192 yesss so glad someone noticed this, figuring out all those little changes was a huge part of the process. It’s off by just seconds by the end haha, it really paid off
okay I've never heard of this before, now I gotta check out the original before I can appreciate this EDIT: If this was sold back in the day, people would call it a "music album with a free game attached", because while the original is great, this just SINGS.
Absolutely amazing!! Tarkus and The Court Of The Crimson King were my introductions to Prog rock and ELP especially was absolutely mind blowing to me, with Keith Emerson being a major inspiration to me. So either way, an absolutely fucking fantastic cover!!!!!
As a long time ELP fan this rules so much! I started covering this one on LSDJ for its 50 year anniversary but the three channel limit was too much for a piece like this (plus it's really long and complex hahshshs) so I quickly gave up. VCR6 sounds like a much better medium for it, much respect for having covered the full thing!
Thats awesome tho that u tried! Yea LSDJ would be a true challenge. VRC6 felt like a great choice for the complexity and detail. But there’s a really good cover of Eruption in 2A03 on UA-cam, by Teuthida so you should check that out!!!
Well, another phenomenal undertaking from you! I wasn't familiar with the source material (I checked it after), and what a rendition! A true wizard of the chiptunes for sure!
Heck I just love any long single record-sided song. Stuff like Tarkus, Close to The Edge, Mountain Jam, Atom Heart Mother, Dogs, Whipping Post live…. Just to name a few
@@kimdiez2681In the original, Greg Lake sings throughout the song periodically. I took great care in recreating his bends and imperfections, mimicking the lyrics, and generally make the vocals sound like vocals. If you don’t know the original, listen to my cover for yourself and try to figure out when the singing starts and ends. I bet you can! :)
Hi, other chiptuner that's fan of prog here, you did excellent with such an ambitious cover
Not every day I see an Emerson, Lake & Palmer Famitracker cover!
This sounds SO good in your style!
THIS IS FUCKING INCREDIBLE, EVERY NOTE. OH MY GOD.
