    Dhiran Mistry: Hi everyone, my name is Dhiran Mistry, and I work at the John Barrett Salon at Bergdorf Goodman. And today, I'm here with Sarah, and I'm going to show you how to blow dry your hair, like we do in the salon. So, first off, you could see that Sarah's hair's damp. We are going to put a little bit of product, to protect the hair, and give it some good shine. And then, I'm going to rough dry it, and start the blow dry. Okay. As you can see, product's on my hand, just going to work it in through the ends, working my way up the hair.
    Sarah's got good hair, we don't need to use too much product. And once we put the product in, the hair's completely combed out, then we start blow drying. So, normally, what we would do, is we work in thin sections. And this is the best way, and the most efficient way of drying the hair. I noticed, when girls try and do their hair themselves, they grab pieces, grab chunks, and just overwork the hair. So, the idea is to not overwork the hair too much, and get the most out your blow dryer.
    Okay. So, now, I'm going to blow dry the hair. I'm just going to take out 80 to 90% of the moisture, and then start with my sections. So, taking thin sections, I'm going to take my first section. This section is, basically, the front section above the ear. So, I'm going to go back to the crown. So, I'm going to clip that side out the way, so we got this nice corner section. The main thing to do, the main thing that you want to do, is to wrap the hair in the brush, all the way to the ends, and all the way down. And then, put some heat on it.
    Sarah's hair's not very frizzy, and not very curly, so it doesn't need a lot of tension. You don't need to pull it, a lot. If your hair is curly, then you'll have to pull it, a lot more. Now, to get the ends smooth, whilst you're blow drying, put the brush in, and just twist the hair around the ends, just to get those ends smooth. And that way, you get a nice smooth finish on the hair, and a little bit underneath. Now, if you wanted more curl, you would wrap the hair around the brush, and just leave it to sit for longer. Today, I just want to get it smooth and shiny, with a little bit of movement on the ends.
    A good tip to do the front, and this will always find it's own part, is if you take a section across the front, pin the rest back, and then bring the section down. Bringing all of this section forward, gives the hair a really, really good shine, gives it a little a bit of volume, not too much, and you get a really good finish. And voila, we have a nice salon blow dry, smooth hair, shiny, looks nice and healthy. And it's just all about the sections. So, you take your time, do it in sections, and yeah, and then you look like Sarah.

    That blowout would NEVER be acceptable at my salon. She was still frizzy at the roots and those sections were way too big to get her hair smooth.

      Finally a person who can answer my question! I know this is old, but why is it when I try to blow dry my hair straight it come out pretty good, but the roots are SO frizzy and poofy. I have a great hairdryer, it was pretty expensive and it’s a famous brand, so can you help me? Is it that I’m blow drying big chunks of hair?

      @@eeiity8600 What is your natural hair like? If you have wavy/curly textured hair, frizz can happen. It's very important when getting the root dry and smooth, that you have a lot of tension. This stretches the hair and causes it to be as straight as possible, focusing the blowdryer on the roots. Make sure you get the roots from above and beneath, and keep the nozzle going down the hair shaft to avoid disrupting the hair follicle (which can cause frizz).

    For a good blowout, you have to Start blow drying with the brush when it’s completely wet… you don’t completely dry the hair first, especially with curly hair, or it will be frizzy… Also where is the sectioning? This is not a good way to blow dry hair!!

    • @nicoleonlysometimes824
      @nicoleonlysometimes824 5 років тому

      WatchMePoledance no actually it’s supposed to be 90% dry

    • @comegetmyxlove
      @comegetmyxlove 4 роки тому

      @@nicoleonlysometimes824 It depends on the hair type. For someone with curly/wavy hair, I would not dry it as much or else, it will be hard to smooth it straight. If someone has extremely kinky curly hair, I would never rough dry it! 90% is a lot so it varies on personal preference, if someone had already straight hair then yes maybe... but only if they were going for a basic straight blowdry or going in with a curling iron afterwards. If they are looking for a brush curl, then I would still need some moisture in the hair to form the curls with the brush.
