@@Shredddddy I got them achievements a long time ago... It took a whole off day to do. I actually was like 7-8 hours into it once and died and had to start over. But I got it the next time, all for a pair of heart underwear and a lightsaber.
This was an entertaining run. I've been playing this game for 17 years but never really thought about doing an all survivors run at base level; I figured it would be an excruciating trudge, but you managed to work around all the limitations very well. It's always fun seeing speedrunners find new ways to play games I love.
It's a fun time
If you brought Brett, Alyssa, and Jonathan to Wonderland Plaza, you will save 8 survivors and for that reason, you will already focus on clearing out zombies for 8 survivors and Susan's hand will not need to be held. I remember when I was too busy clearing out zombies out for 8 survivors, I did not get a chance to hold Susan's hand. I already used the waypoint. So apparently, Susan is a lot more faster when there are a bigger groups.
For me too, the most stressful time pinching pain in the ass part is from carrying Isabella to beating Sean and somehow escorting everyone back in time before youre screwed.
I'm 17 rn and I remember playing this because my dad had it on the Xbox when I was like 7. Till this day the first dead rising is my favorite zombie game next to resident evil 2 and dying light.

Tried doing this semi-casually recently for my first time actually completing the game (Got the bad ending, but still), I made it to Sean before just giving up and saving whoever was convenient

Found you through GDQ, Dead Rising is the most criminally underrated series I’ve played, I spent so many hours playing DR2 when it launched. Got the little zombrex edition still as well.
I remember having the one that came with the weird Zombrex Pen. It's a great franchise!
idk if this has been found yet but trapping Kent inside the vase area next to Columbia roast-masters is a good way to cheese his first encounter by glitching him inside the vase store so he doesn't change locations.
That sounds nice, the main downside is Kent sometimes behaves which is almost immediate

This game's AI is next level. No matter how many times you play, you don't know what you're going to get. I swear, I got a good Aaron and a bad Kindell once.

I remember the reason I stopped playing Dead Rising 1 was purely from how frustrating the survivor AI is, and I am amazed that there exists a speedrun category of getting all of the survivors. Like good lord hahah
Maybe I should look into the speedrun tricks, like that bike clip thing, to help in a casual playthrough and not have as *awful* of a time as I did last time.

@@Ecdycis I can imagine, like at least with implementing some strats on a casual playthrough I might actually have a decent time navigating.
I can't imagine how frustrating it is to get that meandering barely functional AI to actually work in a proper speedrun setting.

I have no idea how you even did this run because I just tried to do it myself and both Aaron Swoop and Burt Thompson got stuck in two separate shops in the El Fresco plaza.
It's ROUGH
It is recommended that you keep arming them with shotguns. For starters, Aaron and Burt will be able to use guns. So in case they get stuck somewhere, at least having survivors with guns is better then survivors with no weapons. Then when you get another survivor that is able, let them take shot guns. You can give them a useless item by the time you reach the elevator near the safehouse. Good thing that survivors can have infinite ammos. Aaron and Burt will be able to clear out zombies for you so that you worry less about getting stuck. Remember that you can still go to a gun shop to pick up those shotguns. There are plenty of locations where you find submachine guns and shot guns where it is enough for each survivors to have. For starters, you also have submachine gun at El Fresco Plaza. You can always take advantage of a fact that survivors can clear out path along with Frank West fighting zombies as well. Use your survivors to mop up. Arming your survivors with weapons will make your speedrun a lot more easier. After all, survivors aren't smart enough to listen but can have the ability to mop up. Lesser zombies should make escorting more easier.

The best survivors are the ones you can carry. But even then, they always spawn in with other survivors, which makes things even harder XD

I started playing a lot of DR2 then came back to DR1 and tried to do scoops with followers and jfc they die so fast. I'm looking up speedrun strats to make the game playable lmao
It’s brutal. The despawns may help, they get used by going far away enough from the zombies and letting the AI run to the intended spot

Cletus is a hidden mission, this category is All Survivors and Missions which include every hidden mission. If you mean timing it's so I'd have guns for Isabela
Ross got shot protecting Tonya from Jo
Even if that is Ross's background, it is still safe to bring them with you at the time you do the rescue the professor quest. All Ross and Tanya would do is stay put and Carlito always ignores the survivors that Frank brings. So then by the time Carlito is defeated, both Ross and Tanya automatically gets teleported to the safe house.
Kind of weird right. Even if Ross did protect Tonya for gun shot, it is still wise to bring them to a gun fight. Carlito is not even going to pay attention to Ross and Tanya.

I followed this and the survivors never spawn in when I'm with Brad I even killed Curtis first then got a phone call about them. When I go there with Brad they ain't there. What am I doing wrong?
I assume you mean Burt/Aaron and Leah. You need to do 1-2 later to get them all spawned in. Otherwise you’ll likely be doing it upon returning to the safe house
I could never do an all survivors run. The AI is the equivalent of sandpaper. I applaud you 👏🏼

Two biggest issues with the survivors is their horrendous path finding and this annoying mechanic where survivors will sometimes only certain other survivors instead of Frank and his directions. Which could be a cool mechanic but it's really just not, it creates more issues than it needs to and should really only be a factor if say one defects but their "leader" npc doesn't where from then on they only follow/listen to the other survivor unless they both defect.

Most people probably hated motion controls for Wii because their parents would only invest in one gaming console and they couldn't play the normal versions of multiplatform games.
Looking back, playing the different versions for different consoles is a lot of fun.

There is literally one run on YT that is the 7 days category from original XBox and most of that run is running over zombies in the underground of the mall with a car. I can respect it, but dear christ in heaven its an awful run to be stuck with.

I recently replayed dead rising 1 with the goal of ending a + save all survivors and hooooo my God the survivors are worse than I remember. Running into walls, running into each other, running into plants, standing around to push zombies, not using their weapons, and having to push a door out if it's pushed in because they'll never stop running into the door otherwise. I got everyone but bill and Gordon. Bill because I forgot he existed, and Gordon because I ran out of time from my survivor group being slow and dumb. It was like the deer running into the pool to drown meme
It really is and they are all so terrible. Dead Rising 2/OTR MASSIVELY improved this

7 day survivor is fun if you do it alone, so that you can do something else while you do it. I can’t imagine doing it on stream where you have to be present the whole time.

This is the most I really plan on doing with all survivors
not saying this for a speed run video, I actually just recently found your content so you could play it already and I don't know yet, but if you're interested in these horror games, like Silent hill and such there is a game from 2012 I believe that was a point and click psychological horror. it was a really cool game to me and it definitely got pretty dark and twisted with the visuals. if not for the channel maybe you could just see if you're interested for free time but the game was called "The Cat Lady" it's a game that handles psychological horror really well as well as giving a really good look at how the parasites of depression and such are. the soundtrack is also really nice. it's a point and click psychological horror that can get pretty graphic (the first "parasite/Killer alone is pretty graphic). I really like your content so far and I heard you mention silent hill and stuff so I figured I would suggest it incase you haven't played it before. doesn't have to be a video but it might be something that you'd want to play in your down time. As someone who enjoys these games myself I always like finding new games to add to my list of favorites.

You need two forms of input, I go over it more in my Speedrun videos but you are essentially holding both break and gas on one controller and then adjusting left and right on the other
I didnt understand speedrunning this game (due to the fact you're forced to wait extended periods before cases) does the down time just not count? Guess ill just have to watch and find out
I use a mod that removes wait time and starts the next required cases/scoops immediately upon finishing the previous. On this one specifically time management is quite difficult

How is this Run even possible when a full 24 Hrs Ingame takes 2 Hours of Real Live Time (loading screen excluded)

The idea behind it is Dead Rising would be 6 hours of waiting without a mod, this mod removes all the wait time and we are able to play the actual story missions with it. This only works on PC

More importantly, glad to see this category, it is so interesting, even if it is utterly a pain.
There's a trend where people will only focus on the negatives of things. This person in particular seemed to be rapid firing this type of thing. I enjoy talking about positives much more than the negative personally so I don't always like harping on the worst ones.

Dead Rising 1 survivor AI is terrible
I had also tried watching others attempt to use survivors to fight against bosses. In DR1, survivors do not have the ability to kill bosses for you. If it were DR2, you have a power to hide behind a survivor when it comes to boss fights.
