Pichi's the luckiest cat in Japan, honestly -- to go from living on the street to sharing a home with a guy who _literally_ made her a personalized cake.
The cats are like, "Father, feed us! Look at us! We are just skin and bones! We have never been fed in our lives! We will surely perish if we do not get the chicken RIGHT NOW - oh, it's food time, yeah!" Also, Poki screaming in the background and then just chomping the food like a crocodile will never not be funny!
Pichi might eventually soften some. Our Molly didn't want to be pet or sleep next to us then just after a year it's fine! She decided that it's good for kitties.
When you live with animals you just learn the signs I guess. I once watched a farmer at an agricultural fair, run and parkour like his life depended on it to get a bucket under a cow's bum. And it was just in the nick of time too. I was just standing there, amazed how he knew when for bystanders there was no obvious sign.
Oh yeah you learn the signals and you become super human fast, sometimes you can be in another room and hear the sounds. And believe me to a bystander it's like you blink out of existence only for to reappear by the cat..
11:56 The absolute SPEED Poki had when he ran over and basically slammed his face into the food. I had to rewatch it a few times because it made me laugh so much.
I'm beginning to wonder if Poki needs more calories than the other cats to fuel his frantic playing, running and abdominal muscles for extra meow volume.
I had a cat who I found in a blizzard crying/dying under a coke machine trying to stay warm by the motor. One ear, one eye, starved down to two and a half pounds as an adult cat of ten to twelve years per vet exam of teeth, etc... She recovered and gained weight slowly up to being eight pounds. After three years of being standoffish one night my cuddle buddy cat got up to prowl and she crept into my lap so slowly like when they stalk, lift foot hold, move foot forward hold, place foot down hold, when at last she settled in I gave her long soft pats and cooing praise and she slept in my lap as tears of joy passed from my eyes. From then on to her last day at eighteen to twenty years old she was as sweet as any cat I have ever known. Passing away gently, warm and purring in my lap. That was thirty years ago and I cry again telling you of her, I miss her so. My point being Pichi may yet surprise you, she has suffered greatly and your love is her therapy.

"Letting them develop their own personalities" about cats, YES. This makes me so happy to listen to, I hear ppl who don't get animals/cats all the time like "Oh yeah they hate humans lol. All cats are grumpy/mean." While trying to pick them up against their will and forcing them to cuddle constantly. Like??? Of course the cat hates you, you're making them do stuff that's against their own natural personality. If you want a cuddly cat go adopt a cuddly cat, and let your animals be who they are!
@@FoxofGold We had a very shy cat once: only liked hanging out with other cats, and could only be touched if his buddy cat was with him. We respected that: just wanted him to be happy! When his best buddy passed away, he suddenly decided he would give humans a try (he had lived with my family for about 12 years at that point); after that he decided he LOVED being a lap cat . . . but only if one was sitting in front of one's computer! He started herding people into their computer chairs whenever he wanted cuddles . . . and we respected that too! So absolutely agree: let them be who they are, and understand that, just like humans, they are likely to change and grow!
@@Ikwigsjoyful Aww this story makes me so happy to hear. I'm glad there are good people out there taking care of their kitties and treating them with respect, love, and understanding. You sound like a great cat owner :)
I'd like a cat one day. They're so cute! And dogs, I also want one, one day. And you're right! People should know cats aren't dogs, cats need time and patience and gotta let them learn about themselves and boundaries.
Oh I made a cake inspired by this video for my 8 year old labrador, Sandor. I sent you guys (R&J) a picture on Instagram pm. 😃❤️ He loved it so much. 😆
I totally agree with letting your cats set the level and type of interaction they’re comfortable with. We have 4 cats too, and one is extremely shy and rarely wants to be touched, but insists on pats when she eats. Maybe one day she’ll be more comfortable around people and want more interaction, but for now all she wants is to be left alone unless she’s eating, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
@@CaeciliaPurnamasari Serious pet parent goals! I was impressed and wanted to try it until I saw my cat a half hour later puke a hairball. I did set aside a bowl in case I don’t chicken out for the next accident! The mess will be there for me either way.
I had no idea cats' vomit is that liquidy... 15:56 is so funny, just after Rachel says "Poki why are you so agressive today" Jun has him firmly in his hold like a misbehaved child at a party 😂😂😂
Its like ours, food/hair in their case/ and kind of bile from the stomach. Hair makes them puke more, so brushing is always a good idea no matter the length of fur. The grass they eat is to help them puke and purge out, specially the hair, to avoid getting to sick. Like us, if its too dry, there is a risk something is wrong and should be rushed to the vet asap (specially if we see dark brown...that can mean internal bleeding in humans and animals)
Also depends on if it’s vomit or if it’s regurgitation. Sometimes cats eat too fast and the food doesn’t even get to their stomach. If your cat barfs up their food in a tube shape then it’s just regurgitation. If there’s stinky bile liquid and other things inside then it’s vomit. And cats will vomit more than other animals since they have sensitive stomachs. They can be quite sensitive to changes in their diet. Even small ones!
Pichi and Poki had the closest to a first date cats could have, sharing a kitty cake, and Poki decided to leave his manners at the door just UNHINGING HIS MOUTH LIKE A BALL PYTHON 😂 And Pichi just kept eating slowly, like the soft lady she is, loving her boyfriend making a damn mess on the plate. If that's not goals I don't know what is 😊
I really loved Rachel's talking about the fact that we need to let our pets develop their personality. Because it's totally true❤️ and I wish more people would understand this.
We call this “homecoming day” or quite literal translation of home coming day. It’s the day we arrived at home with our parents which is different from our birthday as we are adopted. We do the same thing for our dog funny enough
Not sure if it's the same as with dogs, but dogs sound like washing machines in the agitation portion of the cycle before they throw up. They gag for awhile so if you're quick enough, you can get a towel (or in this case, a bowl) to catch it. Kudos to Jun indeed though for the quick reflexes!
@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley My family used to have a cat that tended to meow a lot unhappily because she felt unwell. And the hurling you do actually hear, but I've never actually had a bowl handy like Jun suddenly did. All I could ever hope for was to carry her into the bathroom, or perhaps even into the bath tub in time, for the improved cleaning ease.
@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley We've had cats (usually cats who liked to eat very fast, and so sometimes regurgitated their food) who would just open their mouths and barf - no retching, or coughing, or any kind of warning. And I thought my cats were spoiled! That reminds me, there's a small chain of Japanese restaurants here in SoCal called Poki Cat, and their logo is the spitting image of your Poki! I had to do a double take the first time I saw it haha
I lost my own cats to lung failure. So I'm living vicariously through your cat videos. It's good to see Pichi so comfortable compared to how she started.
I love how Poki eats. He truly enjoys the food to his fullest measure! He deserves a cake to himself just to watch him eat. The other two have very nice manners and ask politely for some of the birthday cake. The newest cat surely liked his birthday celebration and will feel more loved and valued. Poki is so cute checking out the garbage can for dessert! I love him.
Happy everything to the cats! (Also, Poki is exactly like my middle child-cat, Loki. Loki is very loud for food, wants to eat all of the food, gets into things constantly, but he also is a big cuddle bug and just wants to be petted and hugged whenever it isn't food time. Loki is a tuxedo cat, so still black and white like Poki. :) )
It is really cool to see a cat's personality come out, but it is also really sweet to see them do things they know you enjoy even when they don't. Like non-lap cats allowing you to put them on your lap and them staying there voluntarily for a few minutes.
I’m so happy for pichi, her life has really turned around. And I agree with what Rachel said about pets, they’re all different and we should love them for it! It’s so fun to get to learn their personalities! Happy birthday pichi!
“It’s been over a year since we got Pichi”, say what now?!?! It feels like just 4 months ago! She is doing so well! And she is so pretty!! Just like Haku, Nagi and Poki! Time goes by so fast!!
Your cats helping reminded me of "The little Red Hen" story about 'Who wants to help make the bread?' But Instead of no one helping, in your case, your cats ALL come to "help" make the cake. It had me laughing pretty hard. I love your little munchkins.
I love seeing cats’ different personalities too! Especially when they’ve grown up in the same environment but are totally different lol. There’s no perfect cat or anything; some are very chill and okay with baths and cuddles, others can’t stand being touched at all, some are low key insane, others have specific tastes like sticks or sitting in the shower (I’m calling out my own cat there)… And of course we shouldn’t forcefully change those habits unless they’re harmful or something. I love my cat no matter what
This is one of those videos that you really get to see Jun's personality, and I love it. Jun is a ton of fun in this type of video At least this time, the question of cake rights didn't come up. The cake had more rights than Snowman Man
While a new house update and a new Jun's Kitchen sound amazing, even a short video of Poki smacking things with his paws would be amazing. Mostly because of the meme/gif potential. Poki becomes a real life Bongo Cat.

I think I've been subscribed since the first year they started out on YT. Love them and their content, as ever-evolving as it is
same story here ahah
"Letting them develop their own personalities" about cats, YES. This makes me so happy to listen to, I hear ppl who don't get animals/cats all the time like
"Oh yeah they hate humans lol.
Alternatively, the exact same grumpy cat might even want to cuddle if you listen to their cues and respect their wishes instead of forcing it.
No cuddling without consent!
Pichi snarffing down the cake is the cutest thing ever. Rachel’s descriptions of the cats cracked me up. 😆
This is the first time I've heard of a pet actually wanting to be touched while eating xD
Oh my cat will scream at you if you don’t pet him while he’s eating.
Pichi: I am a lady, taking delicate bites of this new cake-
Poki: I AM SPEED
Pichi - eats like only child
Poki - eats like kid from large family.
Can we just talk about Jun's skills on catching the cat vomit-
Ikr? Those reflexes
Peak cat dad reflex
@@CaeciliaPurnamasari Serious pet parent goals! I was impressed and wanted to try it until I saw my cat a half hour later puke a hairball. I did set aside a bowl in case I don’t chicken out for the next accident! The mess will be there for me either way.
Serious skills!
nagi trying to grab the bowl was SO cute im crying 😭😭
15:56
Jun has finally captured the operatic garbage boy
The way he’s holding Poki makes him look so chubby, I love it!
I think it's incredibly cute how bonded Pichi and Poki are, it's like they know they've come from similar backgrounds
Ah, one year ago… “we’re only fostering her, until we send her off to a forever home.”
And now… “we love her, she is a part of our family forever.”
Foster fails just mean that a kitty who needed a good home now has one!
I had no idea cats' vomit is that liquidy...
15:56 is so funny, just after Rachel says "Poki why are you so agressive today" Jun has him firmly in his hold like a misbehaved child at a party 😂😂😂
Depends on what they've been eating, how long ago, etc. There will often be grass... even if you do not have grass in the vicinity.
Mine can have both dry and wet, but then I feed him dry and wet food. And as Ciara stated, it depends on how long ago they ate.
It is one of the many things you eventually learn while being a cat-owner.
Pichi and poki are goals right there. He's such a sweetheart.
Except for the way he swooped in and pushed Pichi out the way to eat 😂.
@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley All's fair in food and war 😂
@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley Yep, still goals.
Rachel: "Nagi is such a good boy"
Nagi: well im going to fix that. **pukes**
11:59
Pichi: eating slowly and carefully
Poki: **NOM**
Pichi and Poki had the closest to a first date cats could have, sharing a kitty cake, and Poki decided to leave his manners at the door just UNHINGING HIS MOUTH LIKE A BALL PYTHON 😂
And Pichi just kept eating slowly, like the soft lady she is, loving her boyfriend making a damn mess on the plate.
If that's not goals I don't know what is 😊
Yes literal Cute Cat Couple Goals! 😺❤😺
I love how Pichi is so close to Poki 🙂
Any episode of Jun cooking spells for a wonderful evening watch
I really loved Rachel's talking about the fact that we need to let our pets develop their personality.
Because it's totally true❤️ and I wish more people would understand this.
Really nice thinking
Absolutely! I also wish some people would understand this about their children.
Saaaaammme omg, I truly wish more ppl would understand that
PICHI WAS SO GENTLE WHEN SHE TOOK HER FIRST BITE OF THE CAKE, I CAN'T.. 😭😭😭😭 SHE'S SO LUCKY TO HAVE YOU GUYS, HAPPY 1 YEAR MEOWNIVERSARY!! 😻😻😻😻
We call this “homecoming day” or quite literal translation of home coming day. It’s the day we arrived at home with our parents which is different from our birthday as we are adopted. We do the same thing for our dog funny enough
Rachel: And Nagi’s just a good boy~
Nagi: *B O R F*
pichi: _sniffs finger_
jun: smells good?
pichi: human meat... *i n t e r e s t i n g*
pichi: _don't mind if I do_
I've never seen anyone manage to _catch a cat's throwing up in a bowl_
Jun must have hyper reflexes! Props!
I was beyond amazed that Jun managed to catch it in a bowl - definitely ninja skills!
@@lillywho My mom's cat would walk to the only square of carpet in the whole house, make a rhythmic yowl "maOaOaOaOaO" and then hork. I would have to run over and just steer him away from the carpet onto the hardwood and he would fight me while trying to puke xD
@@andreamckenzie8598 Wood can sometimes be worse than carpet though. A carpet you can scrub with various methods, but wood could stain permanently sometimes....
Jun's Kitchen videos: these cats are so well-behaved and patient😇
Cat cake video: C H A O S
It’s Pichi’s gotcha day. It’s the day you “adopted” her. That looked really good I might have to give that recipe a try.
Rachel: Nagi is a good boy
Nagi: Bothers Jun while he’s cooking
😂😂😂
Nagi: Ima prove them wrong 😤
Rachel: "This is becoming a Nagi video."
Me: "I'm fine with that."
Also you could call it "rescue day" instead of birthday or anniversary.
Rescue day sounds so sweet!
It's an adoptaversary!!
I love how Jun just automatically finds a bowl for Nagi when he throws up and perfectly slides it underneath Nagi right as he vomits.
Practice
One year ago: We are fostering Pichi until we can find the right home for her
Today: Making a birthday cake for our cat Pichi
I mean, it technically wasn't a lie. She just happened to be at her perfect home!
I love how Pichi was never originally supposed to stay this long but she's slotted herself right in, she fits in perfectly with your family 🥺❤
I love how Haku is so huge that even though the other cats couldn't get to the bowl, he could easily get it, but just chose to look at it. Also Poki demolishing that cake is definitely a mood
Poki fast walking out and chowing down sums up Poki.
This makes my heart smile. I'm undergoing chemotherapy treatments for a rare type of leukemia, so I need to keep my spirits up. I lost both my girls in 2020. I'm now ready to start looking but have to wait until treatments are over. So, I live vicariously through you guys.
You can do this
I wish you a swift recovery
Bless your kind heart, and I hope you have a very speedy recovery!
Paraphrasing Kimmy:
Poki and Pichi being best friends
Together forever the fun never ends
Solvin mysteries, one lick at a time
Poki and Pichi, they're two of a kind!
Boost this the way it deserves algorithm
12:49 "meow meow" like an alarm.😂😂.... I see why they call him an alarm apart from his angelic voice.😂😂
Nagi's snaggletooth will never not be precious
1:03 I love the part where Rachel said "and Nagi was just a good boy" and Nagi instantly look at the camera like "Yeah that's me! I'm the good boiiii"😂😂
Then proceeds to hurl xDDDDDD
We call this day our cats "Gotcha" Day. Its the day we adopted her and we celebrate it yearly!
At 11:10 you can make out a tiny window in the background with the other cats losing their minds behind it. There’s a dark smear bobbing all over it I can only assume is Poki, attempting to phase through
funfact: "Baumkuchen" is german and translates to "treecake" (remember how many rings/layers it has? thats why!) :) Bokksu must be a nice sponsor, so happy for you!!
Can't believe it's already Pichi's "Gotcha Day"! You two and the love you have for your animals makes my heart so happy!
I like to think Poki was telling Pichi his story being like "Trust mom and dad, they never gave up on me and they'll never give up on you❤️"
I imagine when she first came home Poki be like: ''Life on the streets was rough, huh? I've been through the same thing as you, but it won't be like that anymore'' Their bond is so cute TT
Nothing in the world will ever outshine the good vibes i get from watching this beautiful man make this once stray a prefect lovingly crafted little birthday cake.
Pichi Is so cute, I love seeing her having such a comfortable life now, I can't imagine what she went through as a stray, I am so happy for her, happy "birthday" Pichi ☺️
Because Jun taught us to make special cat cake, my cats are now celebrate with delicious and beautiful dinners on occasion. Thank you for that.
And I thought my cats were spoiled! That reminds me, there's a small chain of Japanese restaurants here in SoCal called Poki Cat, and their logo is the spitting image of your Poki! I had to do a double take the first time I saw it haha
"nagi is just a good boy!"
nagi: growls when haku tries to eat his precious cake
that immediate bowl placement when nagi threw up 😂😂😂
Jun: "Why are you trying to eat my finger?"
Poki (if he could): "I am Poki! This is what I do!"
'Father, I love you but you are technically made of meat'
I lost my own cats to lung failure. So I'm living vicariously through your cat videos. It's good to see Pichi so comfortable compared to how she started.
I'm sorry for your loss.
I love him.
I love when Rachel and Jun go full parent mode when celebrating their kitties
Everytime pichi and poki are together my heart just melts 🥰
12:19 Nagi growling 😭❤️
Rachel: "Hi Pichi"
Pichi: ".....where am i?"
Rachel: It's been over a year since we got Pichi
Me: *_blinkingconfusedguy.gif_* ... Sorry, what?
yooo ! that's the same thought I had
I swear it doesn't feel like it...where the hell did the time go?!
too true! i remember watching tan be adpted in milkybokitan and he's over 1 year also 😭
Whelp, the world is still kinda on fire
Time went by quickly even before the pandemic but now it seems to completely disappear… Good thing we have these lovely cats for comfort 🖤
rachel: nagi is a good boy
nagi: *proceeds to throw up*
16:45
"We should make a whole video of Poki and his paws."
Yes please! XD
YES
YES PLEASE!! 🙇♀️
It is really cool to see a cat's personality come out, but it is also really sweet to see them do things they know you enjoy even when they don't. Like non-lap cats allowing you to put them on your lap and them staying there voluntarily for a few minutes.
jun, casually pushing nagi off the counter: im gonna add some chicken soup
I love my cat no matter what
This personality thing was very insightful
This is one of those videos that you really get to see Jun's personality, and I love it. Jun is a ton of fun in this type of video
At least this time, the question of cake rights didn't come up. The cake had more rights than Snowman Man
11:06 She is so CUTE! 😍😍😍
While a new house update and a new Jun's Kitchen sound amazing, even a short video of Poki smacking things with his paws would be amazing. Mostly because of the meme/gif potential. Poki becomes a real life Bongo Cat.
nagi standing to reach the bowl was so cute, I expected that from poki but nagi looked like a kid who ate one candy and was dying to have some more XD
"His alarm starts going off at 5 even though dinner is at 7." I feel this on a spiritual level. At 5 every day, I have two cats perched next to me on my desk like, "Ay. You gonna do the thing? The thing where you fill my bowl?" And I gotta be like, "NO. DINNER IS AT 7. YOU KNOW THIS."
I've been watching y'all's channel for several years now. From when I first thought I wanted to live in Japan, to just enjoying the videos that you post. And I just want to say that you guys feel like my high school classmates. I always tune in and see what is new with you guys and it brings a smile to my face to see you enjoying life together. I wish you guys all future happiness and fortune. Thank you for all the videos and laughs.
