Quick question, just got a Rane Seventy Two MK II and 2 Rane 12's MKII, can you do traditional mixing with motorized platters, especially like Keeping the 2 tracks in time with nudging the platters for beat matching and incorporating scratching only when I wanted to.
Hello ev1 , hope all is well. I was wondering if I could get anyone's help.. I'm trying to setup my equipment so I can begin to stream on twitch through obs. I can get everything to work including the sb3 that I'll be using. My problem is that when I go live in twitch, I can hear the track I'm cueing up on air even tho the fader is set to the track playing.. is there something I did wrong?
There's something wrong with the way you have your audio routed. Without seeing your individual set-up it's hard to diagnose exactly, but you want to check that only the output audio is being fed to OBS, not all four audio channels of the SB3 (as that would be both the headphones output and the speakers output).
@@digitaldjtips on my software the decks are set to 1 $ 2 and the headphones are set to 3&4 as outputs. I unchecked the 3&4 tracks on obs in the advanced audio settings thinking that tracks 1 & 2 would be the only sounds going out to the stream. Even when I only had track 1 checked and every other one unchecked, my headphones audio is still being broadcast.
I have been debating this for some time now. I have been Djing for a long time, but I haven't stayed current on gear I watch all of your videos I am familiar with most current gear. I still have 2 Technics 1200 mkII and a vestax 05 pro mixer with scratch live ( Don't Laugh). I have only used 2 turntables and a mixer, I have never had a controller, though I go to Guitar Center from time to time and play on what ever they have set up and have a good time playing on the controllers they have. I have never lost the itch to just loose myself in a good mix but I get board with my current set up, I would like to start mixing and doing live blends using effects and just making more up to date mixes, I also love to scratch. My question is. Should I get a Rev 7 or Phase for my turntables and a Pioneer s11. I value your opinion on this as I feel you can point me in the right direction. I will djing for myself not as a business. I would appreciate any recommendations. Thank You in advance
I would buy Phase, and update Scratch Live to Serato DJ Pro. If your amazing Vestax mixer is still working fine and you want to keep it, add a box like the Pioneer DJ DDJ-XP2 (get a nice stand to have it positioned above your mixer) which will unlock all of the software's features. IF not, replace your mixer with a DJM-S7 or Rane Seventy.
Hi Phil, great video as always. Do you remember the Stanton SCS.1d which had a motorised platter & a motorised pitch fader that moved by itself to reflect the BPM on the software (when you hit Sync for example) The 12" Numark CDX was another MP deck even heavier than the Rane 12.
Catching up on your vids - Challenge i have is what the reliability will be. As of now I have two denon 5k M's and one of them does not match the pitch at center and since they dont track at the same time using Sync go's out the window because they dont play at the same pace and runs behind at 2.7% and you cant get around that flaw. Can any of these be calibrated to ensure tempo accuracy.
As a DJ from the 80s yes I definitely miss turntables but I don't miss how heavy they are or how heavy those boxes of Records so that's why I wish for a DJ controller with at least 10 inch jog Wheels and motorized motorized jog Wheels at least 10 in DJ controller of course would have to be a little bit bigger but it's not going to weigh in at 80 lb
As a owner and user, in my opinion the Numark NS 7 all 3 versions are at the top then the Denon SC5000m/SC6000M those pads and access to a hard drive and WFI a no brainer plus you can still use it for Serato. Then the Rane One the bare bones unit that is no doubt a CLASSIC due to that fader. The Rane 12's are cool but with Denon units are just DOPE, now the Pioneer DDJ REV 7 which for some reason are not available to us so-called B-list DJ's so in my opinion I will pass ( INMUSIC IS MAKING MOVES Stand alone is the future ). My desire to buy one has passed. Just my opinion I do own the Denon SC5000M and the Rane 12mk2 and both are set up with my Rane 70 A-trak and my Rane 72mk2. If there is a company to drop a motorized platter 12" platter like the Numark CDX, HDX series from the early 2000's with buttons like those on the Denon SC series then swipe to purchase and home they go. The vinyl on the platter makes a difference, I can pull off some serious cuts on the Denon Prime 2 and when I had the Pioneer ddj1000 rekordbox version which has the best non motorized platter. Congrats for 12 years PHIL 👍👍👍👍👍
I’m debating between a Pioneer S11 or a Rane 70 which it might be the A-trak version since it might be better for cutting on the crossfader than the regular Rane 70 or are they both the same when it comes to scratching? … also The Rane 70 is cheaper than the S11 but the S11 with that screen in the middle and effects seems a powerhouse killer?… suggestions please… 🙏
I have the Rane 70 A Trak version great mixer for scratching and the sound is ON POINT !!! As for the Pioneer S 11 I have used it but do not own one it also is a solid mixer, reminds me of the Djm 909 they had out years back. I comparison in my opinion I do own the Rane 72mk2 which is a SOLID MIXER I LOVE THE LOOP CONTROL ON IT !!! You will not go wrong in either choice it is just the screen inovation and the fact you can touch the screen makes it a tough decision. But for me I will say on my deathbed that the Rane mixers are the BEST from Ttm 52, 54i, Empath, 62, 70 Atrak edition and the 72mk2. As for decks right now I'm rolling with the Denon SC5000m due to the platter, access to Tidal, Beatsource, Soundcloud and I can add a external hard drive, though I do still have my Rane 12mk2's also. My advice if there are music stores in your area, like a Sam Ash or Guitar Center they may have those mixer's in their DJ showcase room. Give them a try, cool to watch UA-cam videos but better to actually touch and smell them lol, also check and see what tour DJ's use while on stage that also helps. Keep Spinning and keep the booties shaking and the dance floor soaking wet from the sweat of dancing 😎👍
We need more standalone option. I switch to CD with the CDX in 2004, it was a real beast, with the real sensation of the vinyl (but the sound a bit too digital, but now technologie sounds better with digital scratch), some standalone option like the Denon but with a 12inch platter would be great :)
Phill your sound is echoing
Thanks we fixed it!

you're more than welcome DJ Clovi
Does the numark hdx count as a stand alone system
Wow, that's a media player I had totally forgotten about!

Yes ,of course, just DJ away, without turning on any sync/quantise features.
Denon 1500s were brilliant as a powered platter
Dose the rev7 stop and start just like a turntable so you can queue up the beat to prepare the next next
I'd say so, although not 100% sure what you're asking!
Control vinyl is not the only way with turntables, you can also use the Phase, wireless controllers.
Yes that's true, thanks for mentioning Fredrik.
Bro, changed my life

Do you think Pioneer will release a standalone version of the motorized Jogwheel on Rev7 as a Rane Twelve Mk2 killer? I sure would love one!
No word on that, but it would be great!

Yes I do, they were ahead of their time weren't they! Had forgotten completely about those.
So if I get a Pioneer S7 or 11 with Ranes does this mean I can't use Rekordbox DJ?
You're best using Serato with that set-up, as none of that kit is designed primarily or even at all for Rekordbox.
I think Phil needs a bigger table . Cause i can see the struggle trying to fit all of those Dj controllers. 😄
We normally don’t need to fit so many on!
Shout out to the Numark NS7 series, esp II & III
Yup they were good products

Not that we know of, no.
I’ve been using 1200’s for 30 years 😂 cared for like a baby, never a problem.
I got the old Numark NS7 😊

Rane 12 has 12" jogs! That said have you tried the 7" motorised jogs? They're fine...
Don't forget Phase and Serato.
We'll be covering Phase again soon, separately.
@@digitaldjtips I obviously didn't watch the entire video before posting that. lol
Lol, also rocks with rekordbox, flawless so far
What about Numark NS7? In my opinion Numark is the best build one.

Not made any more

Dsc3000 was the original with a spinning plater
