You can sequence the ASR X with the MPC 2000 XL, that's a fire combination. The ASR has that glitchy sequencer because it's sharing memory with the sample data. Eliminate the sequencing of its own sequencer and just trigger it. The ASRX becomes the best sound module and effects box you could ever have.
The ASR X is okay, but it was already a downgrade from the sound of the ASR10 and EPS16. If I'm correct, it's the very last machine made by Ensoniq before they disappeared. (I think they became a department of E-Mu in the end of the 90's. AND E-Mu itself became a brand of Pinnacle, the guys who made the awful Soundblaster PC interfaces. And in turn, Pinnacle was purchased by Yamaha if I'm not mistaken).
Thanks for the great comparison! At one point, I owned an ASR-10, ASR-X Pro, and MPC2000XL. My personal opinion, the MPC was best when working on boom bap productions because of the ease of use and quantizing options (that swing!). But the ASR-10 and ASR-X Pro excelled when you were working in different genres because the sound quality and effects smoked the MPC capabilities. Fast forward 20 years later, the only unit I kept was the ASR-X Pro, which I sequence with Maschine. Hands down, a killer combo for me! Keep up the good work, Fam! We listenin'!
Dope video! I had a Asr X Pro I love ❤️ how drums 🥁 punch 🥊 in it up in your face. I couldn’t figure out how edit start and end points of samples at the time. My homie bought mine from me it came with a sd drive installed
Thanks for the video Rock. On the ASR X Pro you have to sample in utilities and the sequencer won't trip. Does sound great but work flow sucks. The Akai mpc 2000xl is great but draws more power / electricity. The ASR X/pro can be used with a 150 watt power inverter.
Can you fix a asr 10 mine was working before I took it to a shop in Chicago all it needed was a record button and a broken key fixed they took it apart and now it doesn't even come on.

Just wondering for those who still have an asrx pro how close the d16 decimort emulation comes. I just downloaded the demo of it and put it on a drum loop and it took me back to the days when I had an asrx pro. I remember not liking the mpc (back in the 90’s) but couldnt put my finger on why and now hearing other peoples thoughts I guess my instinct was right when it came to the sound quality.
I concur- the beat lord RockCee knows his thing. He fixed my Impulse controller and kept me from nlowing money on a replacement. ...Very sad that I parted with Big Red though😪
ASR X (black version) is just a BASIC ASR X. It DOES NOT come with exp 3 board or SCSI. MPC 2000 classic's midi sequencer will redrum that ASR X Pro Turbo. Had one when I bought my MPC 2000 Studio Plus. Sampled the whole ASR X Pro Turbo library. Then returned that bs to Musician's Friend.
I have both... The sequencer was complete garbage on the ASRX. The only thing good about the ASRX is the on board sounds.AND THATS IT. The Mpc had waaaaay more punch, swing, and the sequencer is second to none. My Red ASRX pro is literally sitting in a corner on its side collecting dust. Furthermore I have the ASR-10 and it doesn’t sound like the ASRX. The lowend filters of the ASR-10 is major. Not like the ASRX pro.
I had both of the X's.. The outputs on the X were so warm and punchy. People would trip. The only issue with the X was the TERRIBLE sequencer. Not enough processing power. It would skip at times on heavy layered songs.
I have never like the mpc as a sampler but the X was a good sampler. the mpc you could not chop the sample wile the beat was playing you had to stop it fix then play. Until the JJ OS came out.
I had a 2000, sold it in 2010, bought a 2000xl in 2015 and nothing can replicate the workflow. The ASR-X Pro is definitely a unique beast!

I got both of them all you got to do is midi them together use the asr for sounds use the mpc for sequencing
Oh my goodness. I need that track of yours very much. And probably a bunch of your other beats. Where please?
Yes sir !! Thank you 🙏🏻 www.beatstars.com/djrockceeentertainment
Both machines are awesome. I had the ASR X PRO in the early 2000s. Issue was that it was like a black sheep of samplers. Very under rated.
Does your company fixed Mackie mixing boards. Channel one is out and some of the others go in and out..... Just asking

I remember always sequencing the asrx pro with cakewalk via midi. Never bothered with the internal sequencer.
The Black ASR-X didn't have the 8 inputs. I had the black then got the red because of the extra inputs.
I want both. Chop samples on the asr and the drums on the mpc.

@@DJROCKCEEENTERTAINMENT are you able to put a flash drive emulator on my eps 16 plus and ASR’s pro.
Hey Rock Cee! What are your thoughts on the MPC 2000 XL versus the MPC 4000 when it comes to the sound??...
Mpc 4000 have a better sound and work flow.
@@DJROCKCEEENTERTAINMENT what do you mean by better sound ? Cleaner ?
@@favouritethings11 more punch !!
Technician? Do you do repairs on the ASR-X-Pro?
Thanks for liking the comment. But do you do repairs?
Bro you got all the machines! Sheesh🔥

No comparison at all imo. Decimort is great but it just doesn't sound like the X to me
ASR-X sequencer is like the G spot, you gotta know how to rub it the right way.

lol !!!!
Should have just kept it for sound design. Or just get an ASR 10.
Dope segment DJ Rock-Cee
Thank you bro !
My ASRX Pro sequencer is boo boo but the SOUND is second to none. MPC to sequence and ASR for the SOUND all day.
The asr x and the pro had them both and the asr 10 and ensoniq 16
Pro trick: watch movies at flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Rodrigo Devon Yea, have been watching on flixzone for since december myself :)
I have both...

Nice review 👌
thank you bro !!!
I loved my asr-x
😍😍😍😍

Kanye west still uses this setup
IM reppin BUZZ CITY.
The mpc can not touch ASR-X
I agree with you, asr sounds fantastic
That's hilarious
@@LawrinMaxwellsmpc500 Right!!!!!!!!! I would rather have an ASR 10 keyboard than a bs ASR X. MPC 2000 "classic," on down, is UNBEATABLE!!!!!!!!!!!
You’re kidding.. right??
@@LawrinMaxwellsmpc500
The most comical statement on this post🤣🤣🤣
ASR X PRO #!
just control the asrx from
The mpc :)
Now you got the asr sound with the mpc workflow
