We have a community radio station where I live that has a ragtime/old time swing show in the afternoons less commercial music from the 1920's to 1940's love it.
I just turned 20 (literally yesterday turned 20) and this music has been around me my whole life. It’s my favorite kind of music 40’s-50’s especially but any music from the 20’s-50’s. It’s so fun and classy. The musicians were all so talented. I’m not saying that people today aren’t but it is a lot easier with auto tune and what not. These people all had real singing, real live instruments being played. It makes it feel so much more…More. These people worked hard to create some of the best music of all time. And even after all of these years it’s still so good and still holds up.
My gramps used to be in a band from the early 20s up until the 80s. Wish I would have been old enough to see him play. I have a black n white pic of him w his buddy on clarinet and grams on sax suited up clean (1939) Too bad I can't post a pic here. 😊
My sweet grandmother had so many tragedies in life, the Depression, the TB epidemic taking her mother, WWII, but she was always sunny like this music in spite of the tragedies.
This music always reminds me of sitting on the floor near the speakers at my grandparent's house, my grandpa loved to share his love of swing jazz and dixieland with me. RIP grandpa I miss you
"Hey nanny nanny and hot cha cha"! 😂. I grew up listening to Dixieland, Django, The Mills brothers and all manner of Swing/Jazz with a Dad who was always singing and would suddenly grab you to do a little ' hot cha cha' dance as you walked by him. Happy memories. 💝
omg im 17 and i totally agree! ive always loved oldies since i was around 5 or 6! this style of music always reminds me of my father because he always played oldies when we were little.
The systematic destruction of beauty in our society is apparent in architecture, language, art, and music. The best thing you can do is appreciate beauty wherever you find it.
I love thinking back to these older days when life was so much simpler, families still gathered around the dinner table and the radio shows. I often think Im living in the wrong era
I'm listening in 2024 for the sheer amount of hope and honor our country had then and I believe we're desperate for any comfort, distraction from chaos. Always hear a song that will bring a smile, a warming memory of my parents dancing in the kitchen, my mom always had car radio on and sang along. Widowed at 66, now 70 this music is often cathartic in whatever manner, when sounds of trombones, clarinets, trumpets! Bring on the swing!!!❤
I've liked music from the 1920's to the 1940's since I was 7 yrs old !! I am now 67 years old, I'll take the old music, old movies, old movie serials . Anyday to what they have now !!!!!😊😊

I don't know what happen, but all of sudden I've been yearning to listen to some vintage swing music. I'm only 32 years old and love listening to it! I wish the world can go back to playing this type of music.
@@jenesus6220 Yeah I understand, however, I'm working on my Bachelor's for 3D Animation and Visual Effects, plus growing my own food, and building PC's. My hands are busy at the moment.
The image of the girl does evoke a sense of nostalgia and a desire to experience that world. Sometimes, vintage aesthetics can be quite captivating. 📷✨🌟
My mom was a jitter bug back in the day My pops listened to this music up until his leaving this world. He suffered from Alzheimers I would play his big band cassettes and he would remember the names of the bands and the singers! Amazing how music helps the brain. Love this music and the dances that went to it.❤❤
Same thing with my mother, she also loved to dance and sing to 1940s & 50's music. The last few years of her life she couldn't remember me or my name but when I played her old records on the cheap record player in her room she would light up and sing along to all the songs word for word!
The thought of having a time machine to revisit the past can be quite tempting, especially when it comes to enjoying the music and culture of bygone eras. 🕰✨🎶
You are beautiful. You are unique. You are a beacon of light. Remember that you are smart enough... you are beautiful enough... You are enough! Prayers and love.
My Mother was born in 1931 and we used to dance around. She taught me the best dances and I miss her so much. She would have been 92 yrs. old yesterday! I can still see her dancing away even in her 80's, I love her!😇🎂👯
It was the time of innocence. Like I said to the gentleman on top of the comments: in the old days “dating” meant meeting her boy near the metro and go for a walk, then maybe buy an ice-cream (if they had the money), and go to the park and talk about school and projects. Then in the late 60’s everything changed...! (The hippies era). Books like “How to talk about sex to your children” appeared. Sexual revolution full speed.. ! Then it kind of “calmed down”, I remember the 80’s as the best time ever. Internet did not exist and who cares! We sent faxes! After year 2000 things began to change... Right now all I see is selfies, duck face and the word “lol”.
So “great” that when a University professor said that MEN can’t get pregnant she got fired! That article is on VIGILANT CITIZEN. And a professor in England lost his job because the called a girl “GIRL”. She identifies as a boy (or a dog), she complained, and he got fired. Men masquerading as women can now join women spa, women’s jails and compete with women in sports. A man masquerading as a woman (“Melody Wiseheart”) can shower with little girls and the Swimming Club’s administration says nothing. G - ays can now go naked during “Prides” the police is not allowed to arrest them. In San Francisco they perform MEGA or gies in the middle of the street, the police does not mind, if this is hard to believe just type: “Folsom pride, o rgy”. Soon it will be this way in ALL cities. Ah.. Modern times!! @@Schrodinger_did_nothing_wrong
Who says your grand (or great grand) parents didn't rock? They were so much better people than the rabble we have today. The music itself is a reflection of that. Such a better time to be alive. Young, vibrant, and just enjoying life. Hard to imagine in these times...
Every generation says this about past times.. one day people will be romanticising the 2010s and 2020s and saying how great the music was. People will say it was a "far better time to be alive than nowadays, now everything sucks", and so it will go on and on lol. The 30s and 40s included the great depression, the rise of fascism, the continuation of colonisation all across the world, the most deadly war in human history - the music WAS good tho
@@lukaschapman9594 It's because since the 1800s we have been declining as a civilization. No one in the 1800s would rather live in the Dark Ages. It wasn't perfect in the 30s and 40s, but they could have never have imagined of the horrors we'd witness from the 50s onward. I'd rather romanticize the Golden Age of America than the dystopia it turned out as today.
I was born in 1956 so my parents were around in ww2 I've always enjoyed this music mum would say it gave the American soldiers and airmen some hope to get home
My grandmother raised me on big band/swing music while my parents raised me on their 70s and 80s music. My grandmother passed in 2016 but listening to this, I know she is close by. Always prefer this to music today.
This is the music my parents grew up with when I was younger I couldn’t appreciate it but guess who listens to it now thank you so much for this. It’s wonderful.!!!
Love this! It reminds me of my parents--who met at a USO dance at the end of WW2 and competed in jitterbug dance contests!!! Thank you for this glimpse down memory lane!😊💖🇺🇸
Sorry for my english.....i'm 58 and I listening this adorable vintage songs, when the world is too much in any sens, this is peace happy moments....enjoi your life
It's heartwarming that this music holds special memories for you and your sister, connecting you to your parents. Music has a beautiful way of bringing generations together. ❤🎶
I grew up in the 80s and 90s but spent a lot of time with my grandmother because my parents worked crazy hours to support us. I listened to a lot of swing and jazz with her and grew up watching movies like The Rear Window, The Birds, Charade, Breakfast at Tiffany's, etc. I didn't even realize these were "old" movies and "old" songs until I got older. Whenever I hear swing music, it reminds me sitting in my grandmothers kitchen and listening to these songs with her on her record player while she cooked dinner. Now that think about it, I think those movies definitely had an impact on my personality because they've instilled some of the better values from era in me at a young age.
Anyone who loves this music get yourself to a swing dance class - you’ll have a ball and get to boogie and lindy all night. (Damn my gammy leg!) By the way the illustration would make a fabulous jigsaw puzzle.
You are so right! Also, if anyone thinks dance classes are only for the young, I discovered Lindy Hop after 40. lol. Had a blast and met so many wonderful people. Check out a Lindy Hop/Swing dance class in your area..notice that everyone is smiling.
As someone who has been told that, even as a 16 year old, has an old soul, listening to this for some reason makes me believe them. Gives me that sense of nostalgia for even the unknown. Fills me with a sense of overwhelming joy and peace. It’s amazing.
I'm visiting my mom, 89 yrs, in assisted living. We play this to remind us when we took her dancing with her grandson who learned swing dancing in college! Happy memories for us!!

I found it last night, fell in love, but this morning I wanted something I could enjoy in my waking hours. Spotify only goes back to the '50s, so here I am :)
Back when America was great....how low we have fallen. I'm glad there's music of the better times. Times when faith, family, friends, and freedom mattered.
that version of america still exists within us, we just need to find away to give it life once more. that golden age was amazing to me, im honestly more fascinated with that era thatn i ever will be with the modern era.
Well, America still had it problems at the time, like the Great Depression, the Gangsters, the lethal diseases (just ask president Franklin Roosevelt), the Jim Crow Laws, and the freaking Second World War happening at the same time. But the music certainly was better than what we have today.
@@abcdef27669 Exactly. I get the appeal but would you really want to go back and live in that era? World War 2, the Cold War, stifling conformity of the 1950s, the constant threat of nuclear annihilation, racial segregation, women relegated to the kitchen, sexual harassment rampant and par for the course, interracial marriage illegal. The Vietnam War right around the corner. I mean, no thanks, right? Plus, no Amazon one click "Buy Now." Hassle!
Wonderful, uplifting music. So simple and different from today's music, where you can barely hear the lyrics and understand what the song is about. Although this music period well before my time (late 60s born), I've loved since a teenager. I also love The Andrew Sisters, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and 1950s music. Evokes all memories of the silver screen movies, documentaries of that period, the dress code, culture, and you could see musical instruments being played, instead of synthesised and made electronically (a skill in its own right of course). Thank you for sharing.

My parents grew up in this era and my dad used to play his records every Sunday morning. (the only time he got to play them) I have memories of waking up to this music as it reverberated round the house. Great stuff.
Jitterbug anyone? Mom and dad never said if they did that, but they knew how to Walz and Polka. Since dad was a big Benny Goodman fan he got a clarinet as a kid when he was 9 which would’ve been 1936. He squeaked. I have his clarinet. It’s 88 now. No reeds and the handle rotted off the original case. We saw him in concert in 1975. Dad was so happy. I was in awe seeing dad’s idol.
I'm 88 but when i quietly listen on the terrace on my rocking chair, eyes closed, i'm 18 again. My life could finish now and i will be happy.

tempted to one day start a radio station and play this kind of music

Love that UA-cam is keeping this music going 100 years later ❤🎉
My gramps used to be in a band from the early 20s up until the 80s. Wish I would have been old enough to see him play. I have a black n white pic of him w his buddy on clarinet and grams on sax suited up clean (1939) Too bad I can't post a pic here. 😊
That's a fantastic legacy! ❤
My father in law was a Jazz and Burlesque bass player in a road band in the early 30s.
My sweet grandmother had so many tragedies in life, the Depression, the TB epidemic taking her mother, WWII, but she was always sunny like this music in spite of the tragedies.
Господи, читаю Ваши строки и так мне тепло на Душе... Как много нас на этой Земле, людей, которые несут Добро и Свет и Любовь ❤
Fell in love with Swing and Big Band when I was in 70s high school.
I’m 17 and love this why can’t more people my age have better music taste
omg im 17 and i totally agree! ive always loved oldies since i was around 5 or 6! this style of music always reminds me of my father because he always played oldies when we were little.
I'm like you, how wonderful this past
I'm 16, I listen to a bunch of 1910s music. Arthur Collins, Harry C. Browne, and Billy Murray where the hits at that time for Jazz!
I am in the same boat I am 17 and this music is perfect for any occasion
The systematic destruction of beauty in our society is apparent in architecture, language, art, and music. The best thing you can do is appreciate beauty wherever you find it.
I love thinking back to these older days when life was so much simpler, families still gathered around the dinner table and the radio shows. I often think Im living in the wrong era
素敵です❤大好きな世界!

Stop wishing for the world to do what you want, pick up an instrument, and start playing the music you like.

The image of the girl, she looks so nostalgia, I wish I live in her world.
The image of the girl does evoke a sense of nostalgia and a desire to experience that world. Sometimes, vintage aesthetics can be quite captivating. 📷✨🌟
@@RelaxingLand It's 10pm here and the soft jazz is melting my night away!

My pops listened to this music up until his leaving this world. He suffered from Alzheimers
I would play his big band cassettes and he would remember the names of the bands and the singers!
If I only had a time machine
The thought of having a time machine to revisit the past can be quite tempting, especially when it comes to enjoying the music and culture of bygone eras. 🕰✨🎶

You are beautiful. You are unique. You are a beacon of light. Remember that you are smart enough... you are beautiful enough... You are enough! Prayers and love.

Just discovered this type of music now in 2024. Absolutely sublime
@@Summerof-gi5mq It only took seven decades for us to end up where we are now. Modernity sure is great, right?
You are just romanticizing another time of humanity in which there were several social problems and even more aggravated 😂
@@AraneaTempestatum My point was people were more civil, not that they didn't endure hardship. Cretin.
That is highly unlikely.@@lukaschapman9594
@@lukaschapman9594 It's because since the 1800s we have been declining as a civilization. No one in the 1800s would rather live in the Dark Ages. It wasn't perfect in the 30s and 40s, but they could have never have imagined of the horrors we'd witness from the 50s onward.
I'd rather romanticize the Golden Age of America than the dystopia it turned out as today.
So glad I'm not the only one in love with this music and era ❤

Mom and Dads music. My sister and I grew up listening to it.❤
It's heartwarming that this music holds special memories for you and your sister, connecting you to your parents.

Back when America was great....how low we have fallen. I'm glad there's music of the better times. Times when faith, family, friends, and freedom mattered.
that version of america still exists within us, we just need to find away to give it life once more. that golden age was amazing to me, im honestly more fascinated with that era thatn i ever will be with the modern era.
not to put a damper on you, but America wasn't all great for everyone, especially in Jim Crow for black people.
