I knew, and have been using every one of these techniques for over 55 years. Great video. There are so many things that common tools are capable of, if people would just take the time to look for them.

Yup. We had some highly skilled builders in awhile ago doing a reno. I was astonished at what they achieved with their power tools. Helped lift my DIY game enormously, to the point I cut out a rotten floor with a chainsaw recently and edged the hole perfectly for the replacement boards. I love learning new stuff!
Hey! I have a question I need professional advice on! Interested in helping me out? I have a 4” slab I’m using for the bathroom vanity and it’s a floating one. It’s heavy as is the stone sink I bought. I want to remove material from the underside using a router. I bought the cordless makita palm router with the 1/4” shank. It’s very hard wood. What tool would you (or anyone reading this!) recommend for removing some weight? I can create a slide using the outer edges since I won’t touch them (I want it to look thick throughout from too and side). Thanks to anyone with recommendations! I have not used a router since grade school but pretty handy and this isn’t a job that I think requires great skill. Knowledge on proper tools perhaps, but not for the deed itself. 🤗😊. Не одного правильного совета нет. Полотно можно было не переворачивать а просверлить отверстие и резать нормально. А что бы не рвало дерево когда отрезаешь это надо соответствующее полотно ставить а не выпучив глаза каким попало драть эту доску так же и у самого лобзика не у каждого но есть настройки хода полотна которыми так же подбирается что бы не рвало дерево.
Проклеить по месту реза малярную ленту и резать, насчёт скорости и качества полотна тоже не забывать

Ну, если учесть, что первые 4 фокуса описаны в инструкции, то мастер должен уметь читать хотя бы.
какие же они скрытые, если инструмент просто не доделан до конца. Что на заводе не могли такую же хрень из оргстекла прилепить? Или производитель думал, что лобзиком будут пилить все что угодно, только не дерево и поэтому он и махрит с одной стороны.

@@user-ym2in5sk9p все просто, первый раз он пропилил полотном обычным, а второй раз со своей никчемной приблудой пропилил обратноым полотном, которое итак пропилит верх чисто, все рваности остались снизу, все остальные лайфхаки и дуракам известны были

@@Big_perch речь о фигурном резе, а не задирах. Вопрос с ворсом снимается реверсным полотном, с обратным зубом. Есть ещё момент, когда он полотно развернул на 180* , в этом случае подпорной ролик не работает, для мелочи сойдёт, но для новичка стоит уточнить, иначе достанется механизму. При прошивании ламината, тоже нет пояснений, что нужно очень сильно и уверенно держать инструмент, а к твердые материалы без навыков лучше применять сверление .

You can make tight turn cuts with the right blade. Use a fine tooth blade and an insert to avoid or minimise tearout, blade. Get yourself an up-to-date jigsaw.

@@mssk inne zęby przy pierwszym cięciu 2:26, a inne przy drugim z pleksą 2:54 - dwa różne brzeszczoty - mała ściema :). Co nie zmienia jednak faktu, że pleksa trochę pomaga, można również okleić taśmą miejsce cięcia, efekt podobny

Use downcut blades for smooth finish. Most jigsaws now also have an orbital setting for cutting a radius.

The plastic on the bottom was a neat idea🙂 Also if you score your cut line with a razor before the cut it helps keep the surface particles from tearing as well🙂

Most jigsaw
,except the very cheapest, have a lever on the side of the metal head where the sawing mechanism is housed. This lever is adjustable through 90 degrees and controls the pendulum action of the blade from a very hard ripping motion to a pure vertical movement, thus minimising the splinters if used on the vertical setting.
You can also use a metal cutting blade which has much smaller teeth or a wood cutting blade designed to cut on the downward stroke. Both of these types of blades are available from tool suppliers.
As for the circle cutting. I like to use a hole saw to create the curved section and then cut the straight section with the jigsaw.
One other point. These jigsaw blades are very flexible and you might find the blade has flexed on the outside edge underneath when cutting a largish curve, especially in hardwood and thick softwood.
The trick here is to go very slowly round the curve or even stand off from the cutting line and come back to it in the opposite direction when you can see where the cut is going having removed the bulk of waste material.

In addition to my comments I would like to add that you cannot turn the blade round in the holder because the teeth then run across the guide roller.
I don't know how he managed it unless his jigsaw doesn't have a guide roller supporting the blade.
I tried it with my tool and it was immediately obvious that it wouldn't work. He must have the cheapest machine available and I mean THE cheapest.

По-моему после проделывания отверстия лобзиком для выпиливания круга, придётся нести его в ремонт. Не надо пытаться сделать лобзиком всю работу, а то так можно дойти до забивания гвоздей или штробление стен.

Спасибо за совет, побежал снимать видосы как пользоваться инструментами, благо в мастерской его много. Можно начать думаю с набора ключей там там только можно снять 130 видео и далее..
If you have a festool jig saws and the right blades you can do tight turns. They also have blades where the teeth point down so there's no tear out on the top surface.
You don't need an expensive Festool jigsaw for that, those blades fit any jigsaw!

If you’re going to use down cut blades , you better hold that saw down real hard. They will buck out of the cut and cause worse damage than fray splinters.
Have you seen the price of festool power tools?
Unless you are a hugely successful self employed carpenter or a joinery company nobody else can afford these 'rolls Royce's quality tools.

where they would get stolen within weeks.
At the end of the day there are much cheaper jigsaws doing exactly the same job, just as well, for half the money (unless you're a 'tool head' and like the envious looks. As soon as you move away from your tools half will have disappeared. I was on one site where the site clearance boys were pushing giant plastic wheeled rubbish bins around supposedly clearing all the site detritus and as soon as a tradesman back was turned were throwing his tools into the bins.
I like cheap solutions but I also like tools. I already had a BEAST of a jigsaw and a small one for more delicate jobs. I did the backward blade and found I prefer seeing what im doing so bought a used Skil Auto Scroll. Offers hand controlled scroll saw turning of the blade AND adjustable reciprocation of the blade as well as speed control. Got it used for 15 bucks and uts been my go-to for 12 years.

5 tip with the plastic sheet. You are using different saw blades, first one for faster cutting with more agrresive teeth, that's why there's a lot of teardown. When you attach plastic sheet you change the blade for a hardwood one, which is for cleaner cuts. Comparison is not fair at all. Off course the result in the video looks more drastic then.
I think the guide helps it by stabilizing the blade so it doesn't jump too much!
I'm afraid this cheap jigsaw isn't accurate for some sheet metal work!
I think I'll go for the 75€ version which looks tougher 🙂

I would *never* have crossed my mind to simply reverse the blade when blocked by a panel.
That said, I'm not so sure how to steer the cut - but still, now I can get it close and file it down.
And that plastic under the saw - Brilliant.

Just remember to use your mirrors when cutting in reverse. Use a bright flashlight or another bright light to see under the saw as you look under and behind the blade. Sorry about the wise crack but that stuff gets a mind of it's own at times
You could always get out your multi tool fitted with the wood cutting blade. With the multi tool you can cut right up to the blocking object, be it a vertical board as in this case or whatever is stopping the jigsaw from cutting closer.
This guy seems to be trying to 'invent' ridiculous features supposedly available to wood be diyers. Don't fall for it! Get yourself a multi tool kids.
or you could just drill holes in the corners and then you would not have to put the blade in backwards in the first place.
@@paulk5311 .Actually there's been so much cxxp spouted by all sorts of 'experts' and 'wannabees' ever since the idea of reversing the blade was proposed that I've lost the point of doing it.
Think I'll stick to my usual solution and get out my cordless multitool.

I used to be a professional furniture fitter, scribing panels daily. I always preferred blades which cut on the down-stroke, always with the pendulum action turned off. Put masking tape on the face side, and marked out with a fine ballpoint pen. That gives a more accurate line than a pencil, which doesn't smudge or rub out. Also gives a clear line, regardless of colour of workpiece. Cut with the side edge if the blade running along the outside of the line. Clean accurate cuts with no tear-out, or marks on face of board.
I always used down cutting blades for plastic laminates.

If you need to cut sharp corner cuts, buy blade which is made for those. Always use quality blades and correct blade for every materials. There is difference between the blades
I have flipped a sawzall blade around of course. Never thought about doing on a jigsaw!

One of the best tips for getting a good finish is a hollow ground blade. They also tend to do better at cornering as the have more clearance behind the teeth.
Most jigsaws have a guide roller that supports the back of the blade. Keep that in mind if you decide to turn a blade around it might not be the best Idea. Also putting masking tape on the shoe can prevent scratches in a finished surface that you are cutting. Lots of tricks out there for every tool. I knew all of these already but I am sure many did not.
I have never seen a jigsaw without a rear support for the blade. Is this jigsaw from the 1950s or maybe Russia?
@@carpballet it was a cheap saw. I never seen a good saw without one. My $185 bosch had a roller on it. That has been the best jig saw I ever bought. My cheap porter cable 20 volt even has one too.

#2 tells me you haven't purchased blades in a long time. You need a scroll cut blade which is anywhere from 1/2 to 1/3 the width of a regular wood blade, and you can make tight cuts with them.
Ah, but see...he's not having to buy an extra blade to do something he can make the blade he has do with a little extra and seemingly minor effort.
Never manage to have straight line cut with this machine

@@however1058 Don't use a jigsaw if you need a straight cut. Use a circular saw and a guide (track or fence).
nice informational video, I'll add a point of information as well, there are jigsaw blades that have teeth that cut in the opposite direction that helps when blade tear out could ruin a project....

Not using the jigsaw on full speed, if u run it at a lower speed for certain things, you get a very smooth cut.
(older jigsaws had a speed dial newer ones its how far you press the trigger)
Most people using a jigsaw just press the trigger as far as it can go rushing through their cut and then get mad when its ruined.

very handy tips- I have the issue of small spaces all the time as 00:30. Now I have a solution.

As a shopfitting apprentice joiner (bench hand) in the 60s, one thing we did was make up plywood faced, hollow cored doors, some with a glazed panel. After the blank door was made (glued and pressed) the glazed opening was cut out using hand tools. We had a time & motion study being undertaken at the time (many joiners objected to this but it did lead to an increase in pay 🙂). I suggested buying in an electric jigsaw to sped this up. A few days later the foreman read my note, came out of his office and told me it was a stupid idea. Two weeks later a new, electric jig saw was brought out - of course it was his idea then - bastard!!
This is the reason why many employees have great ideas but choose to keep them to themselves.
After seeing many of my ideas stolen and credited mostly to bosses or brown nosers I would only disclose them in our team presentations and frequently already with a name or acronym. Work places are infested with "idea vampires"

Yes it might, but then you might not see where to cut and curves are tricky... The plastic solution is callled zero clearance where you have a surface close to the blade. You can do the same tricks on a table saw (video suggestion 😜)
