Thanks man for an excellent review of this drone. Nobody can seem to give an honest thorough review of it. Looking forward to seeing more when the updates hit.
Hopefully this helps! It’s all about setting expectations… does this beat a more expensive higher spec drone (DJI m30t)? Simple answer - no it doesn’t but it’s not meant to. Is it better than the Mavic 3t - yes (arguably of course). Why I like the 4T max over DJI units - interchangeable payloads mean one base unit but you can have night, inspection or a rumoured mapping payload coming. The brand allows you to swap payloads which on DJI isn’t allowed as it’s coded. Means replacements and repairs cheaper for businesses. Happy flying
Thank you for this excellent in-depth review, I’m very interested in this drone. Whilst listening to your review I was also checking out the Autel UK site and this drone, I was particularly interested in the swappable payload, the 6k gimbled camera. The drone right mensions mapping …, this is an area i’m very interested in moving forward, but I couldn’t find anywhere any thing said about mechanic me shutter(s), I’m guessing the payload don’t have that, do you happen to know if any of the payloads have a mechanical shutter?
Hi there, thanks for the feedback. I believe the Max 4T doesn't have a mechanical shutter but I can tell you they are bringing out a mapping payload down the line. So you may want to hold off until that comes out and hopefully we can get our hands on it for a full review.
@@edinburghdronecompany Hey thanks, I can hang fire. I look forward to your review of the mapping payload when released. If they do, and the Max comes up trumps in the payload department. i’m more than likely in. The ability to swap payloads and battery hot swaps on this size of drone is a real a.. kicker for some other brands.
Thank you Aaron! We will be mixing it more and more with videos coming showing more than just DJI… We have videos planned for: Brinc Share UAV Autel And lots more!
I have the 4T and am trying to change out the pay load camera to the 4N but the price of the camera is such that I may as well buy a whole new 4N bird and sell the old 4T. It's way cheaper that way. So I am going to just sell my 4T straight out for a good price and end up with a new bird to get the camera I want. I watched this video a long time ago, so it was my plan to just get the 4N payload later but that sure is not working out. I should of purchased what I really wanted in the first place. Bummer
We purchased 4 of these, first one dropped from 50m altitude when returning home, the second one flew away into outer space without a reason. Trying to return the other two
Strange, we have had no issues like this in the UK. Appreciate the feedback and honest comments. I await to hear autels remarks on this but we have had no issues like this.
@@rahlap2449 - IP43 rating which is a lot more than other platforms. Less than some of the DJI range so always check IP ratings for indicator but all consumer based platforms will struggle in high winds around 12-15m/s
Where’s the mapping tutorials for this drone? Looking at this drone but reading through forums it seems the mapping functionality and reliability of the software may not be suitable for commercial applications? What’s your thoughts?
Hello, we specifically haven’t touch on the mapping side of this drone as it’s not for survey grade accuracy at this stage. Inspection tool with mapping for situational awareness. A specific mapping payload will be coming out and then we will grade it for its mapping ability.
Does anyone know if the camera will fly mapping missions at 50mp for the images? I'm running into issues with mapping missions on construction sites with tall cranes or building shells. I need to stay at our about 1cm'/px which means about 145' AGL with the Evo II Pro's 20mp camera.
Just received mine and im considering sending it back .the thermal camera is very poor in my opinion (main reason for purchasing it)ive tried playing with all colours and settings. Would this improve with firmware. Unlikely....😢
Good afternoon, the thermal camera is one area we did not focus on but now I will certainly be looking. Thank you for the heads up. Resolution is 640x512 px so it’s difficult to suggest it isn’t clear enough. Have you used aerial IR’s before and what model did you move from/ comparing images to? Thanks for feedback
@@edinburghdronecompany Suggesting that resolution is the leading metric deciding the quality of thermal imagery and the ability of a sensor to detect the anomalies you're searching for is a common mistake. Sensitivity and the way the image is processed are far more important. We've seen great examples in how much processing can affect image quality with the M2ED vs Anafi and with the M2EA vs 640T - in both examples, the sensors were the same, but DJI lagged far behind in image quality. There are plenty of monocular and scope shootouts on this platform that also clearly demonstrate that not all 640 sensors/processors are created equal. Huge differences. Not trying to come down on you, but you're in an educational/influential position and we need to get everybody understanding these things. Something that none of the major companies understand, is that those of us in Public Safety really need a Boson Plus (
Would be great if they could release a stripped down version.. (non enterprise, no hot swap, no accessory port, no mm-wave radar...) and put the V3 6K camera on it to make it more accessible to regular people... This has to be in the business plan once they build up manufacturing capability for the MAX and have a sunset plan for the Evo2.
Going to try to get this drone to film the Real UFOs in Georgia USA. I already have 3 Autel Evo 2s that I have filmed them with. I have some of the best 4K videos of the UFOs in the world filmed on the Autel Evo 2. One of the biggest UFO experts in the world has my videos of them and the government and NASA will have them soon. I had a close encounter with the UFOs on 11-8-2012 and since then they keep coming back down on my land. We have videos of the UFOs that are going to blow everyone's mind when they come out. They show 1000% the UFOs are not man made! Can't wait to get this new thermal drone to see what all is going on with the UFOs that the human eye and regular cameras can't pick up. We lost one of the EVO 2s to the UFOs already. Autel sent me a new one for free. The UFOs cause some kind of interference with the drones sometimes when they get close to them. The drone we lost to them vanished. We did not see it fall or fly away. Screen went black and gps and everything went out at the same time. I know most people won't believe all of this, but it will come out soon and everyone will be blown away with what we have filmed and what the UFOs are doing here! There is another famous guy from England coming to make a show about the UFOs here and everyone will see what we have. We have better videos of the UFOs than the government! One of the videos shows the UFO traveling at 475mph less than 100 feet off the ground and it passes the Autel Evo 2 less than 100 feet away from it!
We wish you well with the UFO hunting, first time I have been asked for what drone is best for…. Finding UFO’s! Happy flying and hopefully you make a break through proving the existence

Nice Jack, well structured and informative 👌🏾
Is the Drone compatible with the V2 controller?
Believe it’s only compatible with the Smart Controller V3. Transmission upgrade

So is it safe to fly it in moderate rain? A drone for SAR is quite useless if you can only search for lost people during bright sunshine

I'm not sure this is intended to replace the EVO 2. It kinda seems to be to the EVO 2, what the EVO 2 is to the nano.
