      Turn 6, it wasn't a problem the day before in the (abortive) Xfinity race, but became an issue for cup. Even race control was surprised by it.

    Fun Fact: I have a bit of the history for the Nashville track, and it was not on the NASCAR schedule for a while, so you could see how they never thought about that. In fact, it was out of use for so long, Nissan bought it up and used it to store overstock. Not saying NASCAR should not have put safer barrier there, but yea.

    3:29 with single-seaters this usually isn’t an issue; when racing in IndyCar or Formula E, for example, you can just flickspin the car and get out quickly (even quicker in an FE car due to the massive amounts of torque). But ofc, a stock car isn’t really nimble enough to do this, nor does it have the necessary acceleration for a quick spin turn 😅
    Explainer over, now get back to the amazing video!

    Nice video! Quick update on the Atlanta pit road from a few weeks ago. While didn't get to see a green flag stop, they have a new unique rule for it.
    Under the green flag, normal pit road speed (45 mph) only applies on the original pit road. Between the turn 3 entrance and the original pit road entry, there is now a double speed limit (90 mph). The entire pit road is 45 mph under caution.
    There was some driver practice of this after qualifying, but no one knows yet how well (or not) it will actually work.

    if you make a part 2 here's a suggestion. On the backstretch at Gateway, there's this little opening which is how the haulers get into the track. They actually moved the wall back some as the track slightly widens before going back to the same spot where the wall is. Fortunatley no one's ever hit this during a race

    What I always wonder is at the Charlotte roval if you miss the run off on the back you can come to a complete stop on front chicane. What if when a driver reaches NASCAR turn 1 instead of racing normal they keep their foot on the gas and drive around the entire track at full speed not slowing down to try and make the back stretch chicane than when they reach the front chicane come to a stop than drive and win the race. The only driver who I can see doing this is Ross Chastain if he is on the verge of being taken out the playoffs

    While we're talking about Sonoma in the EA NASCAR games, the kerb at 4A will roll you out of a commanding lead when you least expect it on NASCAR 08. You can just be cruising along, smoking the field on the hardest difficulty with not so much as a scratch on the car, and then 🔃, you get sent all the way to the back with two laps to go for bringing out the caution all on your own when you thought you were taking it easy. I'm sure that goes a long way towards explaining why people hate that game.

    The Turn 5-6 chicane at Indianapolis Road Course is a worthy addition to this list. I have never understood why it was incorporated in the first place. It’s not like the cars are going THAT fast at that point of the track.

    • @Phonixrmf
      @Phonixrmf 10 місяців тому

      Isn't that because the main back straight and the small straight after turn 4 are a bit off to the side of each other? I'm guessing they got rid of the F1 hairpin so they can put in more laps in the race
      But if you're asking why the chicane is so tight then I'm not sure why either. They have enough runoff at the end of the straight afterall

  • @BentleyTypeR
    @BentleyTypeR 10 місяців тому +1

    The Chicago street course run off can be extended and widened fixing that, the Indy Road Course, yeah that first turn fun off all NASCAR can really do is penalize any one who uses it for an advantage, the scoring pylon, they can add something around it to absorb the impact of an accident ever does happen that sends a driver airborne into it, kinda like a safer barrier, but what is great news is that NASCAR comes back to the oval!!! NASCAR has really needed that, and I hope it stays for good!!

    When you're talking about the drivers going below the yellow line for grip. They would have been making up time as they are driving a shorter distance around the counter so they would be faster due to travelling less distance. For instance, if you watch a track running event they stagger people running because they all have different lengths to run. Also when it comes to cars and time like in F1 or other racing the shorter and taking the inside of the corner is always faster as you've travelled less distance

    What I do not get is why Iowa Speedway had a two lane strip of asphalt along the track side of the outside pit wall/inside track wall on the front stretch. It even has painted dashed markings on it as if the strip of asphalt could be used for auto racing purposes. Of course this is probably to prevent drivers from going in that area, but why go that far to build a wall when it could've been a complete wall like any other speedway?

    The riun-off at Chcago doesn't even seem bad. I don't watch Nascar, but from what I see, it's quite good. F1 has way wirse ones like at turn 3 in Baku where they have to do a 180° spin which barely fits between the walls so that they get out withput reversing onto the track or do like a 9-point turn. The run-off in Mirabeau at Monaco is the same, although there the reversing is the only option as it is just so narrow.
