[Act 1] Solo Druid - Drow-ning in Trouble - Honour Mode

- Still a strong Level 4 and it is time to be brave and fight everyone's favorite Drow Minthara. I do have a decent plan coming into this fight, but there are... complications.
This time we shall give Spore Druid a go. Druids are a class I have extremely little experience with, so we shall see how it goes. I did an early wipe at the very first fight outside the Grove, so we are off to a rough start. This is technically run 2, but since the first ended so fast I don't really count it.

R.I.P Minthy, the cult leader was threatening to torture one of her goblin minions when she heard a faint tune in the distance and ran off asking if they ¨knew any of Volo's tunes¨ before being jumped by a Cheeky Quasit

The trick with throwing the potions to the ground up front and then simply running into the puddles later is a great bonus-action saver. 👍 I must use that more often in my next run.
Don't forget: though you are a spore druid you still can transform into animals, so if you have a charge left and things go south simply transform into a spider or wolf and use their abilities.
Lol you're 100% correct. I have not shape shifted once so far. Kind of stinks I have not played around with it so I don't really know what to expect from the different animals. Besides web from spider.
@@FriendlyLich Cat is nice for sneaking around and entering small holes but has low health (but can loot stuff like pictures, weapons or whole barrels which is hilarious).
Badger can burrow which is very situational but I used it once for the bibberbangs, but besides that - shrug.
Wolf has an attack that on success gives you a crit as follow up attack.
Spider can jump high and has venomous bite and is surprisingly strong on lower levels.
Animals hit points scale with even druid levels.
Maybe most important: Changing into an animal does not break concentration.
Afaik it does however break symbiotic energy or whatever the effect is called, which I've seen used in this run. I haven't played as spore druid though, I just remember reading something to that effect on the BG3 wiki.
@@jotun5383I don't know if there is a height limit, or if it changes with game difficulty, but I've haven't taken damage yet when jumping down from high things as a cat.
I jumped from the cliff behind the halfling druid merchant in the grove down onto the stone arch where the tiny chest as a cat without fall damage. That's a jump that does 20+ damage normally.

The trick with circle of spores is very useful, I never thought of it before seeing this run

I know it's part of the challenge, but it's always sad to see Minthy die. She is such a unique and misunderstood character. Currently keeping her in my sort of good run. Great work as always)))

My favorite companion is Mitnhara.
It pains me that she could be lured and embarassed like that lol.

That was intensely close.
I was surprised the other goblins and scrying eye in Minthara's room didn't aggro for as long as they did, though. When I attack the three goblins outside the worg pens, I always aggro the scrying eye and goblin in the next room. I swear those eyes can see through walls.
I can usually do the 3 goblins without interference and then yeet eye+goblin into the chasm. Tried to take a shortcut here 😅
That Minthara fight was rough, but you overcame it tho. Kudos!

Not to rub more salt into the wound, but Minthara had a turn of burning left on her when she was 1 hp. She would've died on her own at the start of her turn, meaning you wouldn't have needed to try and move the moonbeam.
That's very true. I was just a bit worried she'd somehow magically get healed. It would had been really sad if the run ended due to risking that though!

What is the halo's save based off of? I'm not sure you have ever hit an enemy with it I can remember haha
It's a con save unfortunately. Think I've hit some goblins but that's about it.
Dam that was close! Hunted Minty down relentlessly there. A lesser player might've ran and came back after that drum went off haha

The fact that special arrows can't be used with bonus action crossbow (or I suppose any of the special actions that ranged weapons grant) is honestly criminal and needs to be fixed. Same with sneak attack, although that one can be used as reaction. -1/10, literally unplayable.
It’s a bit weird indeed. I guess they claim balance but oh well 🙃
