did take screenshot, that card will be so handy thankyou , will also be checking out my local chinese supermarket down south, your videos are always so helpful
Was debating whether to shop in my local Asian supermarket yesterday as it goes and didn't bother because I was worried about ingredient checking. Just watched your new vid that linked this one, I don't know how I'd manage without you both. Thank you so much 💖💖💖
Brilliant info about ingredients. I tend to buy the same "safe" stuff all the time because I'm not confident about checking for e numbers etc while I'm out & about. That card will be SO handy. You're always so helpful, to new and existing vegans alike, & generous with your time
You've convinced me. I spent part of last evening plotting my trip, checking the sat navigation and convincing my partner it will be worth it for the baby bath of tofu alone! Great video.
So funny. We passed Manchester Wing Yip today and I said "I wonder if Paul and Jason ate in there!!!' 😀 Can't pass Wing Yip without thinking of you too!
A tip for new vegans, or even people new to shopping in Wing Yip type stores. Some of the sort of circular shaped packages of tofu - some of them can have egg in them (can be referred to as egg tofu, sometimes you have to look at the ingredients). I got caught by it when we were staying in Singapore.
Great video ! It always amazes me all the vegan stuff you can find in the UK, even in Chinese stores ! I live in a small town, and when I go to the Asian store which is in a bigger city, the choice is very limitated... but it's slowly improving ! Greetings from France 😊
I plan on going to wing yip next month as Im going to be doing a Chinese buffet/platter for new years eve for the family - all vegan of course! Thanks for sharing your buys 🌱
I totally understand the trust issues with going out eating Vegan, I have been traumatised since being told 3 TIMES that my lasagne I think it was I had was Vegan, then on the 4th time they admitted it wasn't... I know I have told you guys this already, but yes, I totally understand the trust issue situation and it does make me double check more my drinks coffees going out, or meatballs when ordering Subway etc... when we shouldn't have to, but we do because of having bad experiences. xx
My favorite of your shopping vlogs. Wing Yip looks amazing. Glad to see the different types of Thai rice. Riceberry is my favorite, but I try all types. Yes, Nature's Charm is a Thai company, related to Chef's Choice which is my preferred brand of curry paste.
Great video guys there is some really good Chinese supermarkets in Leeds And you’re right stuff is really reasonably priced tempeh for example is a fraction of the price same with other types of tofu it’s also just so interesting to see what’s in there, some parts are a bit smelly though especially the dried fish andwhere there are fresh durian fruit can’t quite understand why people would like to eat that but still very very interesting place to go
Hi guys! Please correct me if I'm wrong. The E631 can be derived shrimp or meat which means it can be labled as "vegetarian" if it is made with shrimp. How do you know it is made with tapioca starch instead? I am a bit confused unless it states it on the package and we didn't see that part. Love the shopping vlogs and allotment vlogs! Keep up the great work 👍😁
Another fab vlog. Cheers guys. I spent some time today at our local international supermarket fir some bits n bobs, so feel like we are on the same buying vibe lol. Ps I work in Chesterfield!!!! Almost Chesterstonfield… but you don’t want to go there 😂😂😂😂😂👍👍 Much abs many hugs
We have a Matthew's Chinese Supermarket here in Edinburgh. Its fantastic for spices, dried goods and tea. In the frozen section they have durian fruit... I heard it stinks of farts but tastes like vanilla ice cream lol. Maybe I'll be brave and try it next time. If you're ever in Scotland TVG I'd love to host you, and if not then I would love to meet you at Vegan Campout next year x
Love your Wing Yip vlogs Paul and Jason. Strangely I was only thinking yesterday it was aaaaages since you have done one. I like to go every few month to Birmingham and stock up - especially with tofu.
Random question but would there be a reason why tofu can't be frozen? I got the other week which said not to freeze it, I am assuming its just because it can effect the texture?
This was a great haul, but on your E numbers card, E469 is labeled as an egg derivative, but it's from dairy; it doesn't necessarily have "caseine" in the name anymore to let people know (it's called sodium carboxymethyl cellulose). Hardly matters in our case, but if this issued by an authority, lotsa dairy allergic people are getting sick without knowing why. Just switch to eating plants, already, people! There's a new H-Mart in the burbs, but I'm always afraid of walking down an aisle and seeing dead animals or live crustaceans, so haven't gone. I know how to avoid this at a regular grocery . . . ThanksForPosting!
I tend to stick to fully vegan restaurants etc as i know theres no cross contamination and no worries about getting the wrong food. So hapoy you did a wing yip vlog. Chuffed they have a great vegan selection. Great video guys👍👍😀

Ah I love to see this. My wife is Chinese so I’ve been going to Wing Yip for a while now. Always love to see what they have in there
The wing yip curry sauce in jar is so good. Like proper chip shop curry sauce x nice as stir fry sauce too. Carol x ♥
Nearly as good as a day out, watching from the sofa was feeling sorry for myself and coughing but you guys have cheered me right up x
I got my Abba album too on Vinyl very good :) Brill vid guys some great ideas!
Awesome! Thank you!

I love Chinese Supermarkets. My nearest is in Peterborough.
And it's so small, I wish we had something like Wing Yip

Shrimp, meat or tapioca. If it was shrimp it couldn't be labelled as vegetarian as no sea creatures are classed as veggie.
Hmm, guess I got confused since vegetarians can eat eggs and dairy. So many types of vegetarian diets that it gets confusing.
What a fab array of vegan stuff! I could spend a small fortune there.

Do the vegetable dumplings have mushrooms in it?
Not that we can see on the ingredients.

We've never had an issue freezing any brand but it does change the texture.
Enjoyed as always

Well jel, the Chinese supermarket near me is tiny!
My nearest asian supermarket is diddy by comparison. And it’s an hour there and an hour back. Maybe I’ll shop online. Cheers m’dears.
I live nr Chesteterfield lol lovely place, gonna Google, thanks :-)
Have you guys ever brought the baby bath size tub of tofu
Nope. If we had a chest freezer I would

Is that standard?
Yes, alot of Udon noodles are with fish 'contamination', because Udon's are traditionally served in a 'fish' broth in Japan
@@saschathinius7082
And they come ready softened
in the packets with liquid
which presumably has a bit of fish broth in.
Not keen on how thick they are but I've seen them in there
@@johncrwarner : There are some without fish, then neither in the noodles nor the broth
