This is the pinned comment where I will add additional information I forgot to add. Come say hi in my stream sometime and if you have any questions, it's the best place to ask me! twitch.tv/wraithcrw Dynamic Spot Shadows can be left on high - It only affects models in the ingame lobby! Thank you for pointing this out.
Hey wraith, I would like to point out that Apex currently has a bug with Spot Shadows right now, beginning of S13 (possibly related to some geometry on Storm Point) where it can frequently crash your game. If you're getting frequent game crashes turn Spot Shadows "OFF". Low doesn't work as its an issue with the calculation and the only way it doesn't hit the error case is if it is entirely off.
@@nightfox6738 ive been having problems with spot shadows way before s13, and know a couple other people who did aswell. made the menu lagg all out while the game ran smoothly. i just keep it disabled all the time
If you use gsync compatible monitor you actually want vsync on in the nvidia control panel and turn vsync off in game. This combined with ultra low latency mode will give you the lowest input lag. I just set vsync to on in global 3d settings and then turn it off for every game.
Yeah i thought so too. But went deeper into that. G-Sync works better with v-sync on in nvida control panel but its not necessary for g-sync to work. G-sync without v-sync will cause only tearing in bottom part of your monitor, but input lag or latency will decrease. So there are 2 ways 1st SMOOTH where you tun vsync and gsync on and cap your frames below your monitors refresh rate. Or you unlock v-sync and depends on you, you can uncap framerate and get extra low latency with reflex on and little bit of tearing or cap and get good input lag and little bit of tearing in the bottom part of your monitor.
i have a pretty old dell laptop, with a gtx 1050 and an old intel i5, and since my SSD was out of space, i installed apex on my HDD, which made it run pretty bad but after applying your settings and the nvidia panel ones, my game is actually amazingly playable now! almost always 55 fps, and it never goes below 40 on my old HDD! so i am super thankful for this video, you really helped out :)
dude, you did not just change how beautiful now looks, you change my entire gameplay! I was on the wrong settings for months and after watching your video it became so much more playable. You won a sub my guy! thanks!
I've been meaning to get around to watching this and finally have and this is explained SOOOOO WELL. I usually have a hard time understanding videos about video/game settings but this is so comprehensive and useful. Your content is absolutely amazing
Spot shadow detail does not affect fps in game. It just makes your lighting look wayyyy better in the menu screen. The setting does nothing else besides that, I recommend turning that on as it looks good and has literally no fps impact. In any game SPOT settings do not affect ingame fps. Dynamic spot shadows also looks good and doesn't affect in game fps
Did you watch albu performance's apex settings video? No offence it is the worst video for competitive player and best video for casual gamer. It affects fps, I say this because I have tested it in capframex instead of using rtss to check the fps.
So little bit of education here: If in game you turn on nvidia reflex on or boost low latency mode in nvidia control panel doesnt work, because according to nvidia's offical statement reflex overrides LLM (low latency mode) so it doesnt do anything. To cap fps in fps games i recommed RTSS as it provides the best effect (also cap alteast -4 frames below your monitor's refresh rate [this 4 frames are buffer for monitor] ) And i dont recommend reflex boost on unless you dont care about 1. money spend on power 2nd. your gpu life as it boost drains as much as it can from your PC.
Compact interact prompt style feels very awkward to me even as a player that has played (on and off) since launch. I know what all the attachments do, but compact makes it so it doesn't show you if picking up an attachment will put it on your gun. I don't always know exactly what attachments I got on my guns already and I don't feel like picking up every attachment for the guns I'm using. I like just looking at it and seeing if it's an upgrade for me or not that way, instead of having to be aware of the current level of attachments I'm at. Just thought I'd mention that.
great vid! one small comment to add for people who dont want to change their digital vibrance for their whole monitor just for one game. I recommend using vibrancegui if your hardware supports it so you can set up digital vibrance per program/game instead of adjusting it universally across your monitor.
volumetric lights and sun shadows and other options definitely make the game look WAY better. just saying "im not really sure what this does just turn it to low" isnt doing a proper service. same w ambient occulsion which makes the game look more smooth and blurry but does make it prettier
oh I also have another question lol, I was playing 35cm/360 and I was just missing all my shots for days on end. So I changed to 25cm/360 and I instantly started hitting shots. I have no clue why, could it be I just aim better with fast sens? and sorry for comments so much KEKW 😭
Thanks for the video, appreciate you explaining WHY you have the settings you have instead of just plain showing us your settings. One thing I was really looking forward to was your toggle/hold ADS setting. I've been maining hold ADS for like 2 years in apex now. I just feel like I was limiting my potential in terms of how well I could use spray weapons with hold aim recently because my aim had started to really improve. I've been on toggle for like a week now and the ONLY gripe I have about it is that close range (when an enemy slides into my face) tracking is weird cause I can't toggle my ADS quick enough for when I want to hipfire. I guess there's a learning curve to it or maybe its just a drawback of toggle ADS. I watched Dazs's video on this topic before your video so I learnt some shiz from him too. But anyway ty for da video much love, - Linpawws
I play a lot of Escape from Tarkov, and there's no way I can play without toggle ads now. but I know what you mean, i've been caught up in it too, but eventually it comes second nature and helps your shots from a distance to be more accurate
Great video ! sidenote tho : there is no reason to turn down Texture Filtering, if you have a GPU that has been released in the last 10 years (maybe even more), this WON'T affect your framerate at all, max it out in all games.
Hey bro I got freesync monitor and the Gsync option is not an option for me therefore I cant choose Monitor technology in the program settings any suggestion on how to fix?
i could have sworn the monitor im using (aoc 2590g4 144hz) has gsync capability but it wont show up in the nvidia control panel. Been having some screen tearing issues. If you have any ideas how to activate it would greatly appreciated.
Overall it is a great video and you also explained why you have this settings instead of plainly showing it but one small mistake which everybody does, don't set setting.cl_particle_fallback_base, setting.cl_particle_fallback_multiplier to 0, 0 means high and lowest value is 3.I get it anti-aliasing is personal preference but turning it off gives huge fps boost. Keep up the great work 👍
so only for those select two you mention? or 3 for all of the ones OP mentions IN the video? Clarify, these two set at 3, and the rest at 0? OR all set to 3?

Also I've changed resolution settings in menu and revert it and the game instantly runs at a higher fps and disables extra shadows but changes back before in game so it can run higher but it just won't

why do you recommend to enable tsaa ingame but then to disable anti aliasing in the nvcp, it doesnt make sense dude xD (tsaa = Temporal Supersampling Antialiasing) what you are talking about the vram is also not correct, its small but a higher settings does add a bit gpu load cuz of the higher res textures displayed, you said it doesnt affect your game fps performance. I dont get the point how some youtubers for example like you actually think they have to spread information about topics they dont understand. Im not saying this to offend you, just because im trying to understand the reason for guides like this. You even call it ULTIMATE guide how delusional.
You want shadows on, even on the lowest settings. It's technically a tactical advantage that has saved my life before - You can see shadows of people that walk up to you from high ground or something like that.
@@wrthcrw you still get the shadows of people and even better you can see them through other shadows that would usually cover them. It's only environmental shadows that get removed!
