I found a pack of 10 shower caps for $1.25 at Dollar tree and it's the same thing!
Don’t think you are supposed to use them for food, it’s not food quality plastic
@@Borderlinegoldenretriever It doesn't have to be when you are just covering a food item. Dollar Tree does actually sell Food Grade Plastic Cap things 2 in a pack besides of course the shower caps. I don't know how well they last but had met a friend in there one day who was buying them said she uses them all the time. Anna In Ohio
Wow!! Great idea!! Thanks!!!
Not the same quality, wont last as long.
My dollar tree has a pack of food bowl covers. It has 3 sizes and they work Great!
When you share tips and tricks we Know they are tried and true!
I really appreciate your money saving ideas😊
God Bless you and your beautiful family 🙏🏻🕊✝️🌸♥️
Thank you❤ I never get bored watching you! You are always teaching me something and you have such a beautiful family😊
Sarah, I use hydrogen peroxide too. But, I learned that it has to stay in brown bottles or it loses its potency. I just screw the pump from a spray bottle onto the brown bottle it comes in. Hope this helps. ❤️
Thought I saw somewhere it shouldn't be exposed to light
This is what I was going to tell her! I, too, added a spray nozzle to my bottle of hydrogen peroxide so it’s not exposed to light!
I learned the same. Adding essential oils to the brown bottle is an interesting idea!
I also make my own mayo but instead of drizzling in the oil, I add everything to the jar, put in the immersion blender all the way to the bottom, then turn it on and slowly come up from the bottom.
I use this same technique to make ranch…same ingredients, but instead of mustard and vinegar, I add dill, garlic powder, parsley, pepper and a splash of lemon juice. My kids love it so much that we haven’t bought ranch dressing or dip in years (if using it for dressing, I thin it out with a little milk when I’m done blending).
Love all your videos and these great tips.❤
Great tips!
I put everything in and then just let it start emulsifying before I raise the blender off the bottom. Back before I found out raw egg whites was a mast cell issue for me. The store bought stuff is pasteurized somehow.
@@GoingGreenMomit’s canned lol
Pretty much kills everything
@@YeshuaKingMessiah yeup.... but you supposedly can't can mayo, so..... I kinda just don't want to know. Lol
I have tried this method, but it always fails for me no matter what I try!!! 😂
Heyyy Sarah, Thxs for sharing all these handy tidbits! 😊 Blessings n God's Love! ❤
Hi Sarah and tribe. I live in rural Victoria Australia and we are mostly off grid....so we use tank water and a septic system. We found that using bleach based products or anti bacterial stuff actually affected our septic. The Septic system needs bacteria to break down waste....so I'm not sure if you guys are in the same situation so just check if it's okay to use your cleaning stuff.
We switched all of our cleaning products when we moved to an area with septic system. Products in the US will even say if they’re septic safe.
I no longer buy almond milk in cartons. I buy organic raw almonds from Vita cost or Trader Joe’s and make my own! Soak 1 cup of almonds in water overnight. Rinse and add to 3 to 4 cups of water and blend. Strain through a mesh nut bag, add a bit of sea salt and put in a quart jar, and refrigerate.. I make this all the time!!
My daughter and me started making our own beeswax candles after we watched your video on making them. She is about to start selling them as a side hustle!
Sarah!! You can add ALLL of the mayo ingredients to the jar, put in the immersion blender on the bottom, let it sit on the bottom for about ten seconds and then slowly pull up - it’s so much easier! Works every time! Even my little kids can make it this way ❤❤❤
For grease spots, use cornstarch or flour. Rub it on the spot or apply pressure to it.
My grandma has those shower cap food covers. She has been using the same ones for as long as I can remember, at least 20 years.
For the most stubborn stains use dish liquid, H2O2, and baking soda, rub into the stain and let it set for a few minutes, then wash.
I finally tried the Dawn power wash on grease and it came right out! I like it in a spray bottle because it covers more surface.
Sarah, this was such an informative video! I always enjoy. Thank you for sharing! 🩷 xo
I no longer buy canned refried beans. I make my own in the instant pot (they are so good!), freeze, and we can have quick bean burritos supper.
I make my own also I use black beans and then fry them up in bacon grease.
@@robincook4349 cannot go wrong with bacon grease! Mine is pinto beans, quartered onion, green chillies, chicken broth, and seasonings (can’t remember all of them) dumped in the instant pot, then blended until smooth.
Hi!
About plastic covers for bowls... Sometimes a plate can work as a lid and then you can place things on top of it to...
I don´t buy any plastic wrap at all, I have bowls with lids or I put a plate on them. I have lids for my big square dishes to.
Buy your oil from catering suppliers in 12.5kg jugs. Save 30p-50p per litre on sunflower and vegetable oils and even more on olive and avocado oil.
Haven’t watched you since Peace was born, new house, wow I missed a ton of stuff!
Welcome back!
You can also save money by making your own vanilla.
Also, when I’m gifted scented candles, I put them (without the lid) in a closet. It smells so nice when you open the door.
Yes! I made my own jar of vanilla extract and will never have to buy it again!
Ammonia is an awesome grease cutter! I use it in the laundry and the kitchen. A capful added to a sinkful of sudsy water is a great booster. I will also put a capful into a greasy baking pan or baking sheet and fill with hot water, let soak 20 min and it just wipes clean with no scrubbing. Something else I do is to wear an old shirt around the house, that way if it gets stained or dirty its not a big deal. I just have to remember to change my shirt when I leave the house! And as soon as I get home from anywhere I change out of my good shirt and put a "house" shirt on.
I do the same thing with the clothes
Yes, ammonia is great, but be careful of the fumes!
I use vinegar this way... I need to look up ammonia now and start using this in some situations! Thanks!
My cousin has always used vinegar and water mixture to clean and disinfect around the house. She recently had her kitchen redone. After the fact, she was told that she cannot use vinegar on her new countertops! I don't know what they are fabricated out of, but she was really bummed😢@@rebekah3483
I used to make a lot of homemade biscuits and didn't have any shortening or lard or oil one morning and the only thing I could think of was using mayo. It works really well and they tasted just like they always did.
My husband makes pancakes with mayo in them, instead of oil. His pancakes are the BOMB🤤
Makes sense since Mayo has so much oil.
I ALWAYS put 2-3 drops of original DAWN in my loads of laundry! Works amazingly. Been doing it for years:)
I would add that only a few drops, as you said, bthalsey, should ever be put in the washer. These dish soaps make too many suds! My husband was an appliance repairer and he said that people would try to use dish soap and other kinds of soap in their dishwashers to save money. Needless to say, what a mess it made🙄😳 The same thing would happen in a clothes washer, I'm sure, if too much was used😕
@@cherylross5322 yes! I add it to dry wash before I start it! ONLY 2-3 drops! Ty:)
Do you add only that?
@@BigSmashKing no. Added to the regular detergent and laundry softener
My father was an electrician in the press room at a newspaper way before environmental safe ink. My mom was the master of getting ink and grease out of his clothes. Her secret weapon was Lestoil and scrubbing away!
What is Lestoil?
Is Lestoil a waterless hand cleaner like they sell in automotive sections of the store??
I use white hand soap, the solid type for most stains on clothing, just dampen stain and wet the soap, rub in then wash as usual ❤❤
I'm so happy when you put out a video.
Love from Michigan ❤️
I am also from Michigan!!! ❤
@@eileenalholinna5310 Same!
I stopped buying mayonnaise years ago. I add garlic, herbs and a mix of oils. Avocado oil as a base and a little olive oil for taste.
Local butcher's are under valued. I love loved ours when we lived out west. Life was so different back then.
Thank you for all the tips.😊❤🙏
Ms. Ruby
I love all those tips 😊
I’ve been trying to do more of my own stuff, even like making my own vinegar. I just started a new batch today. I have so much “mother” from the other one I made. It’s a satisfying feeling!
paper towels! My teens were spinning them off the roll like they were water. We were going through a roll in about 4 days! Now I actually HIDE the one roll I do use and it lasts me about a MONTH if not more. (they have no idea I even have a roll) lol I bought extra dish clothes and they now use those and toss in wash.
I would love to hear what you do for vitamins for yourself & your kiddos!
I just love all your energy ! Lol
Sarah, use a cloth to cover your bread for rising. 😉
Awesome ideas thanks for sharing. Love yah Nancy
Great tips! Also, love your sense of humor.
🤩To clean grease spots on dry cloth without putting it back to wash use baking soda and a toothbrush. But only on dry cloth
Honestly asking here... why only dry? Does it change the color or something if wet?
Obviously, you'd have to rewash if you got it wet with the baking soda and your comment was for not having to rewash the item, but just curious why only dry.
Thanks for the tip and help!
I only use cloth napkins, I make my own hot sauce, & broth.
thats awsome to make candels can also melt crayons turn them into candels. i buy my groceries in bulk sometimes since its only me i eat probly only twice a day . do meal reaplacentment bars . such as built bars . it helps out a bunch .fasting one meal a day can help save so much money does me . i use digital coupons on the app plus paper coupons helps save money . blessings sara candels are beautiful . i also thought mayo was dairy product thank you so much for shareing thease recipiecs. help out so much love saveing money in places i can . but your ideas are simple its just the best .
We use a Sunlight soap bar for stain removal. We use a sheet of laundry soap. We use vinegar to clean almost everything. Use old socks for cleaning rags as they fit nicely over your hands. We have bidets which have cut our toilet paper usage in half and we fell cleaner for it.
Bidets are awesome! No one will use it but me - but my tp use has been cut by 2/3s
No joke
Need a video on Kombucha. I'm dying spending soo much money. Full time working mom, so I go through about 5-6 small glass ones a week, and I am definitely needing to switch to homemade. Saving up to buy myself a new (used but new to me) truck so my almost 16 year old twins can take my current car next year. I need a truck for a toy hauler for us to have more options, my husband has a tow vehicle but I like the idea of us both having a tow vehicle, in case of an emergency or whatever. So thanks for being so thrifty. I'm always watching your videos for inspiration!
@kombuchaliz on UA-cam has fantastic tutorials on kombucha making!
Look into making a ginger bug, used to create your own probiotic sodas. They are tastier and pretty low maintenance.
@@WS-by5clI've NEVER heard of this! I'm about to Google it now! Does it taste fermented? I have a hard time with this taste... I'm a wimp I guess! Lol
Hydrogen peroxide works great for stains. My mom had an injury with a lot of blood on the carpet and the ambulance crew told us about using hydrogen peroxide on the carpet. Just let it bubble up before you blot it. It worked great.
Anise is delicious in the home sausage which I make out of ground chicken that we grind.
Thank you so much for sharing ideas on how to save $$ and make healthier products. 😊
Thank you for sharing.....I'm very inspired!
"where did i get it you ask?" That bit had me loling. You're fantastic!
I learn so much from you❤ Thanks!
I watch your channel too❤
Always looking forward to your videos , thanks for sharing 🌷🌷
So happy you posted a new video!
Loved this video Sarah! Thank you it is so helpful! I’ll be trying some of these ideas.
Loving the lemonade idea, cant wait to try
I watch you all the time and you had me laughing all the way to the end. And your giggle was priceless, all your one liners! Loved the show, as usual 😂.
I’ve been making stain spray with peroxide and dawn since my cloth diaper days in 2013. I’ve never used another kind since. I use equal parts peroxide and dawn in mine. It’s better than Shout in our house.
I make homemade may too with a mason jar and immersion blender. However, I put all ingredients in the jar (starting with the egg first), place the blender at the bottom of the jar, turn it on, and slowly lift the blender up as I see it turning creamy. Works every time! I had no success with the regular blender method.
Love this video ..I have made all my season blends
Your channel is always so refreshing to watch, thank you for all tips, recipes 😊🙏❤️👍🏽
Thanks so much for the tips, I'm definitely going to make my own Mayo. Loved how you showed us how to make it.
Sarah, you are awesome . I am definitely going to try all these options. Thank you so much!God Bless you and the family.
Good Evening Sarah so many good ideas... thanks so much
Great video Sarah. Ty for sharing these. You gave me lots to think of. Hey Noel
Hydrogen Peroxide also kills mold. We used it in a basement that would flood occasionally.
Thank you so much Sarah, love all your videos, and so inspiring to cut down shopping expenses and do it at home. ❤
You can pastuize your own eggs too, there is a guideline the food and drug administration puts out, it's found online, you heat them to a specific temperature and hold them there, then cool them, they are safe for everything you want them for then. Just a thought.... with everything else you do though it might be too time consuming. Thank you for sharing all your $$aving tips. You are appreciated! ❤❤
I have an idea we do, we reuse foil, by using it to scrub our outside grill, or oven racks, just wad it up and use it as a scrubber.... also in the summer months, laying grill grates or oven racks on the grass overnight can clean them up, the dew has enzymes that break down the grease and grime to make them easier to clean, or clean them for you, just remember to grab them before the sun comes out too hot, and dries it up again.
I have found the sun can " bleach " your clothes and freshen pillows and fabrics as well..... if you want to bleach a spot use a little lemon juice and salt, then scrub it a little and lay it in the sun to dry..... wash as usual, so easy and fresh. Spritz linens and bed pillows with a little water or lemon juice and leave outside to dry, it kills dust mites and freshens them. ❤
Dishsoap is all i use to get grease spots out with 5 kids even after dry. Dawn does work best but I once put dawn on the night before I was going to wash and it lightened the spot so just put it on going into the washer paired with washing in warm or hot water works the best. 😊
I use those all the time and love it.
Can’t wait to make the same candles…got all the ingredients and ready to go ! I love the stain remover idea…can’t wait to try that !
Great ideals! Thanks! I make my own laundry detergent and save so much money! If you don’t already, save your eggshells! Grind them up and add them to the soil in your gardens it adds calcium. I do it all the time. My tomatoes plants love it! Thank you for adding links! 👍🏼♥️👍🏼♥️👍🏼♥️👍🏼
Oh Sarah I have those the clear ones 🎉
I feel like I just attended the best mom hack class! Thank you so much I learned a TON!!
I have had powdered vitamin c for a while but never really knew how to use it. Since watching this I have already made 3 pitchers of limeade for my sick kiddos. So easy, yummy and healthy!!!
Great ideas! I’m sure others have commented, but you can make that mayo even faster! Search 30 second mayo or something similar. I measure the oil, add the egg and remaining ingredients then put the immersion blender all the way at the bottom of the jar. Do a few pulses to get the egg mixing and then I keep it turned on while lowly lifting it up out of the oil.
Yes for Dawn dish soap on stains.
Thank you!
Hey Sara love the video I'm going to try and make my own mayo thanks ♥️
LOVE THE VIDEO.
I am from the maritimes on the east coast of Canada. I like your videos, they are informative, and I feel like I'm watching a friend.God bless!!!
A joyful and fun video!
Eager to try your sausage seasoning, mayo, and lemonade! Thanks much for the recipes. I still do use hydrogen peroxide for wounds. Seems to work well if used sparingly. I have also used the Sam's Club smaller bottle of peroxide, put a sprayer top on the bottle and use the peroxide (without diluting) to clean the outside of my toilet. However, I often still do use the disinfectant wipes, but wear gloves before handling them. I like the convenience of tossing the wipe! Either way of cleaning seems to work well.
I totally use Dawn dishsoap for stains.
Spray n Wash is worth its wgt in gold
No det gets the spots esp cooking stains/grease like it
It saves soo many pieces of clothes
Yes! I used to use it, but I can’t find it anymore, so I use Shout. I works well too.
Cornstarch on grease spots gets them out.
Peroxide is great for removing blood from certain articles of clothing. It happens. Sorry if tmi.
Also, Fels Naptha bar soap works wonderfully on stains!
I have commissioned my daughter to sew some cloth bowl covers (for rising bread) and jar covers (for making my sodas/vinegars), in order to cut down on plastic usage. 😊
Thank you for sharing 😊
You're so funny!! Love your channel!!
It’s interesting to hear all your tips, you certainly get to test everything with your family! I cut up cotton shirts and t shirts not just for saving money and the planet but because they make the best cleaning cloths. Make sure to cut them up though or you’re bound to find someone wearing the shirt you were dusting with the day before 😂😂😂. Hope you all have a wonderful time visiting Grandma xxx
I switched to using the food boats you recommended a long time ago. While we still have paper plates for some things, the boats work great for snacks and smaller items! Love them. ♥ I buy the same dish soap but never thought to use it for removing stains - trying that today because I have some stains from my homesteading life! 👍👍👍 Thanks for your great advice, as always.
Thanks for sharing....and for watching!
Yes dish soap is a very good cleaner for a lot of things dawn is very good for bathing ur dogs. I use it for mine. An cleaning the house laundry an lots of other things too. 😂❤
I would personally NOT use Dawn for bathing animals. Castile soap is safe!
@@WS-by5cl Yes we have been using castile soap for the animals and it has worked well. 👍
@LargeFamilyHomestead- sorry I guess I didn’t reply properly. I meant it for the person above my original comment 😊 I’d hate for others to use Dawn on animals when there’s something more natural (and cheaper per use) available. 😊
I use hydrogen peroxide in place of bleach for my white laundry. It makes them such a bright white!
I use coffee filters and homemade spray cleaner as my throw away wipes. Super cheap. Coffee filters are great for cleaning mirrors and glass for a streak free shine too.
I don’t buy vegetable stock anymore and make it at home, working on making homemade fruit compotes to replace juice! Also got a steam spray cleaner to clean hard to reach spots with just boiled steaming water and no chemicals. Love that you’re doing the same!!
Good evening Sarah just making sure that your olive oil is coming from One source not multiple places
when i do white clothes i wash them with a generic dishwasher pod. they come out cleaned. i like it especially when i do a load of dish drying towels. all those stains from using them to wipe up come out.
Good tips, I want to try the disinfectant!
Another good way to get a grease stain out is cover it with brown paper, parchment paper would do, and go over it with a hot iron. The heat from the iron melts the grease and the paper soaks it up.
I also use those plastic shower caps. Then you don’t have to find the right size lids. And I also use dish soap for grease stains. It is amazing. 😊
I really want to try your mayonnaise recipe and peroxide cleaning hack. There was a specialty French restaurant from my youth that served homemade mayonnaise that I loved beyond all reason so I cant wait for that flavor again!! Thanks for sharing, God bless.
I know that you are extremely busy but wondering if you plan to have a vegetable garden this year? Great lessons for the kids, best food ever and money saving. Love your family and your channel.
I have used the stretchy caps for yrs.
I no longer buy paper towels, unless we have foster puppies. I have a big stack of rags and towels we use instead
Thank you for more of your tips on how to save, we have a small chicken business so we save on chicken, also we just moved and now we have our own lime trees, mango trees, and hot pepper plants as well, also we have cashew and almond trees, feel very blessed😊
We live in southern Guatemala
I found that the best and easiest way to make the mayonnaise is to put the egg yokes the vinegar salt and some Dijon mustard in the bottom of the mason jar. Place the immersion blender over the yoke mixture then pure in all the oil. Start blending but don’t lift up the blender until you see the thick mayonnaise starting to form. Once you see that then slowly start moving the blender up and down once most of the oil incorporated then you can move the blender around to make sure the oil is completely mixed through. I find I have success pretty much everytime.
Sarah, I just love Your Channel, but were do u find all the Time, your really are Amazing 🥰🥰🇬🇧🇬🇧
