I also make my own mayo but instead of drizzling in the oil, I add everything to the jar, put in the immersion blender all the way to the bottom, then turn it on and slowly come up from the bottom.
I use this same technique to make ranch…same ingredients, but instead of mustard and vinegar, I add dill, garlic powder, parsley, pepper and a splash of lemon juice. My kids love it so much that we haven’t bought ranch dressing or dip in years (if using it for dressing, I thin it out with a little milk when I’m done blending).

Hi Sarah and tribe. I live in rural Victoria Australia and we are mostly off grid....so we use tank water and a septic system. We found that using bleach based products or anti bacterial stuff actually affected our septic. The Septic system needs bacteria to break down waste....so I'm not sure if you guys are in the same situation so just check if it's okay to use your cleaning stuff.

Ammonia is an awesome grease cutter! I use it in the laundry and the kitchen. A capful added to a sinkful of sudsy water is a great booster. I will also put a capful into a greasy baking pan or baking sheet and fill with hot water, let soak 20 min and it just wipes clean with no scrubbing. Something else I do is to wear an old shirt around the house, that way if it gets stained or dirty its not a big deal. I just have to remember to change my shirt when I leave the house! And as soon as I get home from anywhere I change out of my good shirt and put a "house" shirt on.

You can pastuize your own eggs too, there is a guideline the food and drug administration puts out, it's found online, you heat them to a specific temperature and hold them there, then cool them, they are safe for everything you want them for then. Just a thought.... with everything else you do though it might be too time consuming. Thank you for sharing all your $$aving tips. You are appreciated! ❤❤
I have an idea we do, we reuse foil, by using it to scrub our outside grill, or oven racks, just wad it up and use it as a scrubber.... also in the summer months, laying grill grates or oven racks on the grass overnight can clean them up, the dew has enzymes that break down the grease and grime to make them easier to clean, or clean them for you, just remember to grab them before the sun comes out too hot, and dries it up again.
I have found the sun can " bleach " your clothes and freshen pillows and fabrics as well..... if you want to bleach a spot use a little lemon juice and salt, then scrub it a little and lay it in the sun to dry..... wash as usual, so easy and fresh. Spritz linens and bed pillows with a little water or lemon juice and leave outside to dry, it kills dust mites and freshens them. ❤

Dishsoap is all i use to get grease spots out with 5 kids even after dry. Dawn does work best but I once put dawn on the night before I was going to wash and it lightened the spot so just put it on going into the washer paired with washing in warm or hot water works the best. 😊

Great ideas! I’m sure others have commented, but you can make that mayo even faster! Search 30 second mayo or something similar. I measure the oil, add the egg and remaining ingredients then put the immersion blender all the way at the bottom of the jar. Do a few pulses to get the egg mixing and then I keep it turned on while lowly lifting it up out of the oil.

Eager to try your sausage seasoning, mayo, and lemonade! Thanks much for the recipes. I still do use hydrogen peroxide for wounds. Seems to work well if used sparingly. I have also used the Sam's Club smaller bottle of peroxide, put a sprayer top on the bottle and use the peroxide (without diluting) to clean the outside of my toilet. However, I often still do use the disinfectant wipes, but wear gloves before handling them. I like the convenience of tossing the wipe! Either way of cleaning seems to work well.

I cut up cotton shirts and t shirts not just for saving money and the planet but because they make the best cleaning cloths. Make sure to cut them up though or you’re bound to find someone wearing the shirt you were dusting with the day before 😂😂😂. Hope you all have a wonderful time visiting Grandma xxx

I switched to using the food boats you recommended a long time ago. While we still have paper plates for some things, the boats work great for snacks and smaller items! Love them. ♥ I buy the same dish soap but never thought to use it for removing stains - trying that today because I have some stains from my homesteading life! 👍👍👍 Thanks for your great advice, as always.

Another good way to get a grease stain out is cover it with brown paper, parchment paper would do, and go over it with a hot iron. The heat from the iron melts the grease and the paper soaks it up.

I found that the best and easiest way to make the mayonnaise is to put the egg yokes the vinegar salt and some Dijon mustard in the bottom of the mason jar. Place the immersion blender over the yoke mixture then pure in all the oil. Start blending but don’t lift up the blender until you see the thick mayonnaise starting to form. Once you see that then slowly start moving the blender up and down once most of the oil incorporated then you can move the blender around to make sure the oil is completely mixed through. I find I have success pretty much everytime.
