When our son was in middle school he and a friend were walking home from school. His friends' mother and I were coming home from a meeting, and she said to her son, "Put your trombone in the car". That boy said, "F### off" and kept walking. His mother said nothing. That evening, I said to my son, "How come you never try that language with me?" His answer....."I want to live". I can't imagine a mother letting a child talk to her like that with no consequences.
😂🤣
I had to chuckle at your son’s answer. It’s hard to imagine anyone talking to their parent like that.
That boy may hear that kind of language from his father, unfortunately.
@@heidifrick4400
Or his mother.
My son had a friend that wanted to have him go with him somewhere. I told my son Tim that no he could not go with that friend because I didn't trust him, like his actions, and I was parenting as a single mom because the boy's dad died when they were 7, 12, and 17. The kid came by the house and said your bigger than She is come on let's just go. Son said no thank you cause I'm not gonna be picking my self up off the floor when I disrespect her. I will just stay right here. I was so proud of him and that kid never came back because he could not drag my son I to trouble.
When my 4 boys were young, 3 of the 4 loved to read. #2 asked me once why I read so much and I told him that the books tell a story and I can see it in my mind while I am reading. One of my thick books came up missing. The son who didn't like to read returned it to me and said, "I see what you meant!" He had read the entire book in 1 1/2 weeks and never stopped reading!
To help children who don’t like to read, read to them, read to them, read to them! Even when they the isolated skills to read to them. Read books with beautiful language and engaging narratives. Read poetry and news articles. Read joke books and recipes.
Let them see you read.
Another thing is to allow children to get “bored” and then make it easier to pick up a book than a remote or an electronic device.
I agree with all this but Also games with narratives have play a big rule in helping my children and many want to read more also.
son especially when learning years ago to play Minecraft. That manual is thick lol He also has the whole halo series. I mean sometimes we can lead a horse to water but we can't force them to do anything well, on their own if they don't want it and it will feel like a feeding tube at times if we don't find something that's appropriate but also something they personally enjoy. In this world at times the balance is hard to find- not many really conservative videos games but they do work, because real enjoyment increase cognitions xxxx
Don't forget comic books there are lots of kid safe comic to get them to read.
My 13y old does not like to read at all but she writes the best papers in school . Am gonna try the reading to her
And remember the audiobooks too
None of my sons read one did in jail my youngest 21still not but plays games on PS5 and talks to pals all night my son's teast me and me then but I don't ask them to help me then they will do it
Hi Sarah I’m an Arab Muslim and I’ve learnt so much from you….a lot of your values and approaches align with my religious beliefs….thank you you’re amazing! 🙂❤️
Sorry you were not acknowledged. I saw your comment and I'm Muslim too :)
@@imadsus1253 You're both nice.!
I know. I just saw you weren't acknowledged, too. ❤❤❤❤
You are So Blessed to have your mother and grandmother to be with you. ❤❤❤❤
I agree!
I love how they seem to have such a good relationship. It's very refreshing ☺️
Sending prayers to grandma, may she continue to be able to be able to be independently. So glad Nanna is visiting and her great smile.
Oh yes I was like your son. My parents were big readers. I didn't start reading everything I could and of course I went back to college and got my BA in English and creative writing majors and minor in philosophy. I love to learn so I read deeper books but still like fun books.🌻
Both of my daughters are big readers! I love reading too! When I was about 12, I went to the library and get a few books each week! Our library was only about 5 blocks from our house. My son was not a reader. He still isn’t. In fact when his youngest son has to read for 30 minutes for homework, after 15 minutes, he says that’s good!
I love every video on this channel, but it’s always an added bonus when your mom and dad are around!!! Love them!
Left to Tell is a Great Book! I am a missionary and actually live in Rwanda and am married to a Rwandan. There are lots of incredible heart wrenching stories here.
Even that movie hotel Rwanda ummm .
I grew up with 4 brothers! What’s respect???
We all got the belt and as I got older I’d get backhanded across the face!
My mom had her issues and I now understand and have forgiven.
I was a good kid and was responsible for the household while my mom worked! I was also an honor student!
I miss my parents so much😢
Thank you sharing yours with me🙏🏻🕊✝️🌸♥️
Your a awesome daughter , love to you ❤😊
Parents do the best they can at the time. It's obvious you love them and miss them. Thanks for sharing!
I said ‘so’ in the wrong tone and my mom was driving and she called me up between the front seats and she took her cat and elbowed me in the mouth. Same..,I NEVER EVER SAID THAT AGAIN! I am a very polite person myself. Had a great mom to teach me.
96 what a blessing Susan....❤❤❤
Nice Chat with your mom ❤ That's so awesome great grandma lives alone at 96 wow and your mom comes to help her as needed❤ loving devotion ❤ Thank you Sarah for your show ❤😊
I just love your mother....and yall have a great relationship!!!
Susan, I totally hear you about your mum! My father was the disciplinarian in our home (7 girls & 2 boys) as a teenager with raging hormones I sassed my mother one day, and she slapped me too! I was mortified! I was so mortified that I had that I had made my mother so angry to do that, I was harder on myself than she or dad ever was about it. It only happened ONCE... (my sass & her slap) I didnt do it again, not because I didnt want to be slapped, I didnt do it again, because I never wanted to dissapoint them again. They were wonderful parents. It was uncalled for on my part, an apology, forgiveness and forgotten on both sides. Lesson WELL learned. ❤
You and your mother were just so cute together!! 😀😀
Always love to see & hear you both together. I miss my Mother so much! I am blessed to still have my 94 year old Dad! Sending HUGS, Prayers, Love and Kindness with positive thoughts!
Prayers for your grandmother it’s a blessing she’s doing so well on her own at her age 🙏❤️🙏❤️
not enen through this vlog yet, but have to comment. The biggest issue I had raising 5 kids, was not having a partner on the same page. Frommy kids youngest years, I would try to engage my husband (now and EX) to back me up on the kids disrespect for both myself and each other. He never would-"it's boys being boys" was the response I always got. By the time they were young adults it was out of control and unbearable being abused by my own boys. Needless to say, the marriage didnt last and I know the disrespect still affects my relationships with my kids today. So bottom line-spouses must be on the same page-get counselling for the issue early if necessary!
Sarah your mum is such a blessing, And so are you: it’s warming to the heart to be apart of your channnel: I would so love for ppl to be somewhat like u all. Love you tribe of many n nanna n poppa. My hats so to u all ❤
Prayers for your Grandma so amazing to still have her at this age💕
Absolutely ❤❤
I read The Winds of War in 1973. It was almost 1,000 pages. I was very young, and my parents weren't happy about it, but knew I could read another copy at the library if they took it. Wouk has a few other epic books.
As a grandmother of 22 and counting LOL, I love to read to anyone who will listen. My almost 3 year old, is difficult to slow down to read to, but her sister who is 1.5, gives me her Children's Bible as soon as I arrive in their home. I am there 5 days a week and I read them a Bible Story Daily. The younger one, sits and turns pages for 20 minutes a day and both love singing Kids Bible songs to end our day. Mom is happy since the both nap well LOL.. You both are great.
What a wonderful Grandma & Mother you are Adelle 🤗 Blessings!
😅The first time I read the Bible through in a year, I found it burdensome, so I read it through more slowly and lingered over some parts but not others, and took at least two years. Next I read it chronologically (not in a year). Then, I read it aloud, chronologically, to my husband, explaining some as we went along as he had never had Bible study. I now do an evening devotional with him where he reads the Bible passage aloud and I read the devotionals.
The owner of Azure Standard just wrote a letter that was in this Feb Flyer about family dinner. It was very moving and so true; it made me tear up. Family dinner is so important, any meal time really; that the family comes together to break bread and share from the heart.
This was a wonderful video and you are right Sarah, we are all doing the same thing, living the same lives. God bless you all!😊
Such a good video! Many of your tips about kids work for adults, too. Like me! (Single, no kids) I was a "chain reader" all my life....until a 12 hour surgery. The anesthesia interfered with concentration, then I became a smart phone user and I read even less (except on my phone). Solution: designated no screens times. Shut everything off, put the phone in a different room and READ! Thanks Sarah! I also love to see your warm relationship with your Mom. I had the same with my Mom who has passed. 💕
WINDS OF WAR is amazing! The mini series was probably my favorite ever.
What age would you consider it appropriate for children?
@@JacquelineHandrahan-xl5yr I think I would leave that up to the parents. I don’t feel qualified to make that call.
Loved this, thank you for sharing! ❤
I found a Bible Trivia. I got my mama to play it together. Its so fun. Maybe your kiddos would like to play.
This was sooo good. I really enjoyed you and mom Q&A this morning. Im a grandmother of 10 and I myself learned a thing or two. Never to old to learn new things especially when teens are involved. May God continue Blessing your Grandmother who is 97yrs old. Truly a Blessing. My grandmother lived to be 101. God is Good all the time...
Great video!🤗
Thank you for sharing!
Blessings 💜💜💜
Love you guys! Thank you for being so real and sharing yourself with us
You have the sweetest parents! Thanks for sharing all the fun and wisdom with us. Have a great week!
LOL!!! Note from editor "no you don't"! I laughed so hard.
Mom's and grandma's are the best!!! I love your mom saying she is the sandwich generation!!
What a wonderfully lovely chat. Thank you for sharing!
Just before our first child was born, my husband had emergency surgery. His roommate was an elderly retired man and he and his wife shared this with us….be consistent with your children. If you promise them a horse, give them a horse. If you promise them a spanking, give them a spanking. Do what you say. Good advice, three children and grands and great grands later…. 😊
That’s so true . They need to know that you gonna stick to your word.
I needed this we have struggled with the disrespect especially now with our youngest child being almost 14 and our daughters are 20 and 21 . I think it’s ok to remind them right away it’s not ok . Now we are navigating a new phase entirely our 20 year old got engaged last week . We love her fiancé and God is completely in this relationship but we are definitely navigating this season .
Great advice!
Excited to use the conversation starters in my work in pastoral care in a school!!
I always enjoy seeing your, Mom. Great video today!
Love listening to you and your mom. ❤🙏

I love you guys together! Reminds me of me and my mom!! I love the parenting advice, keep it coming
Love the mother-daughter conversation time! 🤗 Great content! Thank you! 💞
Oh my goodness…you read my question! The one about disrespect. I appreciate your response. It’s so great to hear that me and my husband respond to disrespect in the same way: immediately shut it down, and levels of punishment.
I thank God that my kids KNOW what will not be tolerated, and they have NEVER said shut up or I hate you.
So great, cool when ur mom is here adds her point
I really enjoyed your video today Sarah. I also enjoyed hearing all of Nana's wisdom. She's such a wonderful person. God bless you and all your family.
Winds of War is in my Kindle library too!!!
Great vlog with your mom! I just love your videos!
As always, love the video and love it when your Mom joins you.
Well I'm a Beth too and I loved this q&a lol. Your mom has such a calm presence about her❤
transition is so very true 🙏
This comment is more for Sue but also to Sarah just cherish your mom and ask her every question you can think of anything that you might wanna know in the future. My mom died at 94. I’m now 67 and there’s so many things I wish I had asked her.❤️😔
I enjoy these videos also. Sharing your experience and knowledge is awesome and I think you help many more than you realize. Good to see Nana helping you. Keep up the great work. ❤❤
You two are just good people. I really enjoyed this video. :)
Sarah, you have the best mom, she is precious! You have a great dad as well! I wasn’t so lucky! Love ur family so much! Donna from Evansville, Indiana
To @onlyjobros, Did-does on that! I think it is therapeutic to watch wholesome healthy families on youtuube. I even think that families like this are being an example to young people in troubled homes to show them what family is suppose to be so they can grow up and break the distinction and heal. When I was a kid that is what the tv show The Waiting was for me. The only people I have meet that liked that show came from troubled families. I so often think this families' channel, Tribe of Many, is helping so many young people in many ways we can't even imagine the numbers. My prayers are with them.
Sarah, I love your Mom. She seems to be such a lady. Keep your videos coming. I look forward to seeing what you and your family are up to.
You and your mother are simply AMAZING! Just love you all! ❤️🙏🏽
I really enjoy your question and answer videos! And having your Mom along was a bonus! Also, by chance, I am a subscriber of Beth's channel, "A Dash Of Gratitude." It was special to see her video question. I enjoy her channel too!
Thanks Sarah and Nana. 😊
Love listening to you and your mum.
Great camera Sarah. Good quality
So wonderful seeing and getting to know your mom. It seems when your father is around she gets lost in his big personality. Love her. Hope to see more 1 on 1 with her
Hey Sara love to see you and your mom answer questions love your channel♥️😊
Funny you mentioned it, Little Women was my first chapter book, a gift from my sister, we’re 8 years apart, and to this day is my favorite movie❤️
Sarah yr mum is so much like my mum, teaching of becoming your own person with respect is so important. Sometimes disaplin is tough but grows us into decent ppl ❤❤
I love these videos. Your Aunt Sharon has a beautiful kitchen. I really enjoyed this video with your mom. Sarah, you have really sweet parents. Love y'all
Great video!!
Thank you for answering my question! I appreciate the equipment recommendations and the links. ❤❤❤❤❤ -Beth
Thanks for asking, Beth.
Good morning family thanks for sharing
Hi Sarah! I love when you and your mom vlog together. This was awesome. My boys and husband never liked to read but now my husband and youngest son now are reading. I read all the time. ❤
That is awesome your grandma is still independent at 96.
I always look forward to when you and your mom do video's together. We all love Grandma and hearing about her. So many great questions on this video
I grew up with that you respect your elders and that is it. Yes I tried to get away with things, but my mom and dad would nip it in the but right away. And I learned to just do what my parents said. Was harder as. Got older. Now I understand it as an adult. Still respect my elders. Hard now, see kids now days don’t respect elder, and it’s sad.
I loved Walk Across America !!
Pappa can’t handle the cold. Thanks for helping your Mom Nana. All those grandkids may wear you down Nana. I am so happy 16:00 to have Nana on any channel. She is refreshing.
Awww....thanks!
Love these ask Sarah's with your mum. It's so great to hear the answers from two generations! I wish I had a relation with my mom like that. I laid the Bible on my table to read for my coming years of morning coffee. What a great idea to start my day! Front to cover. And I also want to say how I love you don't say the name of the child you are referring to when it could be considered negative. That is the ultimate respect, and you do it fluent. It gets me into tears every time.
I love your mom. And I love that you smile all the time. It’s why your children always smile. What a lovely family. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!
Prayers for your grandma
It’s funny when you talk about respectful conversations and my own memories of my teens. I was at boarding school a lot of time. I remember being sulky and angry for no reason, looking back likely my hormones and feeling not heard or respected in my home. But at the time I didn’t know what I was feeling at all except angry, I didn’t know why. Now I help teach my 4 year old niece about her emotions and they are perfectly fine. Where I wasn’t raised to think emotions were ok.
Me too 😔 as a kid I didn't want to be disrespectful and actually felt a lot of shame about being that way, but with hormones and a turbulent household it would just come out of me, I didn't know what was happening
Best Auntie 💕
As soon as your mom mentioned Winds of War I put it on my read list!!
Great video!
I have a boy that doesn't like to read and I have a Girl that can't get enough of reading. When our daughter would get in trouble and sent to her room. I didn't catch on why she was happy. slow but sure... because she didn't see it has a punishment because she would just lay in bed and read... So I had to add on and you can't read. Then she felt the punishment and thought about why she was in her room... she's adult now and still loves to read. I love to read. I enjoy when your Mom comes. Prayer for your Grand Mother's move I miss seeing her also.
I loved her whistling!!
I loved that book Susan! The following book is thick too but is great also.A good way to get the sequence of the war,
Hello Ladies, great video 💐💐Praying for your grandma 🙏🙏
I really enjoyed this video ❤
Im going to have to read some of the books you suggested,I was always a big reader growing up in the summer cause never went on vacation so spent lots of hours reading .The ones that you mentioned sound real good love them even more when they are true. Love too you both and family
Cindy M.❤
Loved this discussion. I hope many learned from this. Disciplining kids on any level is a lost art now days, and unfortunately some really disrespectful kids being raised now days. It's very disheartening.
I am so sorry i missed the sale
We are a small family and wont be growing but you insight is amazing thank you for sharing
It's kinda funny growing up I hated reading got out of highschool now I can't stop reading books any kind of books don't matter to me anymore just love to read my mother would be so happy for me
I really enjoyed watching this video using your mom answering questions. God bless Grandma 96 Sarah, you are amazing.
Hi Nana. Tell Papa, I said. Hi, I'll see you tomorrow Wednesday.
Love you guys, God bless.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
